  1. Sorry to inconvenience. Is there a reason for the artificial limitation?
  2. The anecdote earlier in the thread where a new player had said they didn't keep using Enhancements because they didn't seem to have an effect. That, that is why we should care about this. I can back up that, when I offer to help, almost every new player that mentions being frustrated winds up having done the same thing. I remember there was a post in the old forums that stuck with me, something where one of the live devs, I think Jack Emmert, was saying that % changes they made weren't noticed by the players until they hit a certain threshold, something like 17.5%, and that stuck with me as an important consideration when we design games. I think that's what's happening here, I think the bonuses are so small that you can't really tell you've used the Enhancements. That's why I keep suggesting things that avoid that problem; things like adding mez procs or making D.O.s drop Attuned and removing T.O.s entirely in favor of D.O.s instead. When I help new players I've been handing out full sets of level 20 I.O.s to them and telling them to just sell all T.O.s and D.O.s that they get, since the bonuses are small enough for you to not see the effects. This is not a symptom of a healthy mechanic.
  3. While we're on the topic of massive stacks of Common Salvage, is there a reason we don't just make everyone start with 1 000 slots of Salvage at level 1?
  4. You forgot to change the thread title to include "[Fixed]" at the beginning. This was done with the other resolved threads.
  5. Is there a reason not to reward the use of D.O.s by making them drop Attuned? This would compensate for their weaker effect by making them retain usefulness.
  6. To word that more clearly, we don't know what the roadmap is. How much in general has actually been discussed? What are the priorities? Does the staff handle things catch-as-catch-can or is there some sense of where things are going?
  7. There is a lot to work with in-character, but how would you costume beyond covering yourself in padding? You're not going to be attacking for harm anyway.
  8. Currently you will see ignored users posts if they posted between when you loaded the page and when you yourself post in the thread. The page reloads all new posts, including your own, and shows the ignored user's post. bug.bmp
  9. If the % bonus is small enough to not care, maybe we need low-level-but-matter procs? Like adding a Blind or something? Maybe make them turn off at level 20 like Prestige Enhancements? Make them only work on Minions? Other ideas certainly exist.
  10. Sounds reasonable. Please, do elaborate. Those internal conversations are opaque to me. Is there somewhere (not Discord) where we can learn more? We have every reason to be interested in what's on the agenda and the radar for the future. We may be able to offer our own skills, and may have unique helpful perspectives.
  11. This is good news. Any thoughts on what is and isn't practical to apply?
  12. When I hit to quote an entire post I only get to quote part of the post. There's no nested quoting. This causes confusion in some ongoing threads. There is an arrow that would hide the quotes. Can we keep the other layers, but just default them to being closed?
  13. I (in general) agree that something should be done. I'd like to suggest there's a very different possible answer. The reason we can't fix Enhancements has more to do with how big the bonus to Damage and Accuracy is. Instead, what if we made the size of the bonuses to things like Range and Slow bigger? Couldn't we make that noticeable enough to matter?
  14. @justicebeliever So to be clear, I was correct, you were wrong, you ran a web search, you saw I was correct, you linked the proof I was correct, you then said I was wrong and tried to quote the section supporting me back at me, then pretended you were correct. This is the same thing you were doing in the locked thread to try to screw with the conversation, right up until you started accusing those who disagreed with you of being like Andy Kauffman. Welcome to my ignore list.
  15. I would like to suggest that Notoriety is already a part of balance. There are tons of balance concerns. I've never understood why we can't take higher level Missions if we want them as well, and the level range for Contacts makes no sense, either. This is inherently a larger conversation about how hard/easy the game is. We need to discuss those issues, but Notoriety gives us flexibility. Let's focus on making the toons we want how we want, because that's what makes the game awesome. We can fix the rest to fit the toons.
  16. This is not a true statement. Physicians regularly prescribe placebos. Run a web search to confirm.
  17. Reading this was physically painful. This problem was a part of the reason the live devs finally added the modifier bonuses to the Enhancement tooltips on the Enhancement Management screen. I hate to sound like a broken record, but this problem would also be solved if we instituted the suggestion I made earlier: Instead of the current T.O.s and D.O.s, we could just have Attuned D.O.s.
  18. This is why D.O.s should be Attuned. If there's a reason to keep them more than three levels...
  19. So how would I personally fix this situation? How does this look to you? The short answer is that I'd institute all of the following: I'd do away with T.O.s entirely. Only D.O.s, S.O.s, Salvage, and Recipes as drops from level 2 on. I'd give a meaningful incentive to slot D.O.s by giving them a straightforward trade-off: Making them only drop as Attuned versions of themselves. This gives a player a reason to ever slot them, even with the lower bonus (because they're more cost effective). This doesn't eliminate the math advantage S.O.s and I.O.s already have, so some players will use them instead. I'd make a design principle that the effects created by higher-level S.O.s are balanced to always be better than equal-level I.O.s (this would require adjustment of either S.O.s or I.O.s for some levels). That way there would always be a reason to use S.O.s (some players just want the best bonuses). I'd bring back the relevance of the N.P.C.s' stores by making the prices of D.O.s and S.O.s something that made sense. Since you still want to be able to slot Sets and your own cool crafted stuff there's still a reason to use Wentworth's, but would allow skipping the auction house for any players who didn't want to. I can still have my level 40 with nothing but Common I.O.s if I want, and can still hook him up with some less frequent Set I.O.s if I want, and if I want to just use Attuned D.Os and wait until level 50 I can.
  20. There are players over on the Mastermind subforum that want to be able to play with just the whip. Gotta admit the whip is a good part of the Powerset. I bet there's a will, and where there's a will, there's a way. Is there someone with 3D animation experience that would be willing to actually design new animations? They're few and far between, I believe. Let's look at this a bit more.
  21. To be clear, that is not what I'm asking for. I asked the staff repeatedly to give me guidelines for what they felt an appropriate build was and they responded. The crafting system was evidently designed back on live to be an out for players who, like myself, don't want to deal with Wentworth's. I offered to help provide data and one of the staffers and I got into a conversation about how the live devs had balanced income-per-level. He was able to answer almost every question I'd brought up the entire time. That was great. I happen to have experience working on an accounting software development team. I've also worked deciding if something is profitable and by how much for the same company. I have experience figuring this stuff out, which meant coming up with real metrics. That and a lack of documentation to refer to about the game's economy drove the feeling that there needed to be an initial post and drove the ongoing conversation on my end. As I've said maybe four or five times now, a player gets limited Influence on their way to level 50 and if they're not supposed to do more than Common I.O.s there's a messaging problem. That guideline of what someone should be able to purchase isn't communicated properly, and if you go to the auction house and get whiplash from all of the price fluctuations that's an issue that is worth discussing.
  22. I expected others to argue that things like this didn't happen, but they do. I was trying to head that off by providing some evidence that there was market speculation going on. I see now that that is a feature that was intended, so I don't feel that's a reasonable place to focus the conversation after that.
  23. The only mistake I see at this point is dignifying an ad hominem with a response. I'm going to focus on responding to posts that focus more meaningfully.
