  1. What is with Willpower and Regeneration? I've never understood moving a whole Powerset to another name.
  2. The data exists in a usable form. What language is the forum written in? Java?
  3. Nice to see new players and new ideas. In my personal opinion the suggestion quoted is not a good fit for this game.
  4. The fact that two other posters thought this went different places (general discussion and art) and I thought this went under roleplay, means we need a dedicated lore forum.
  5. The post said something about the staff being able to change drop rates. I was clarifying what is known on that topic.
  6. I ran some of these Missions with a P.U.G. on Everlasting (the roleplay server), so I asked the members while we were travelling to the Mission, in character, "we're going to be going against Crey's private security, have all of you done that before?" The players reacted in-character that they hadn't. I in-character explained that one of the types of foes was members of Crey's Paragon Protector™ program, what they looked like, an described their capabilities. Again, this was all in-character. The team agreed to focus all their damage on the Parag-Prots. first, then to go after whoever else second. The team totally roflstomped the entire Mission Arc. We had zero difficulty with the Parag-Prots. They only activate [Moment of Glory] after they've been aggroed for a certain amount of time. We just killed them all before they got to the timer. I tried to explain this to a Mission team on Torchbearer later the same day. That server's P.U.G.s weren't interested. I couldn't pay them to focus the Parag-Prots. They kept getting to use M.o.G. against us as a result. Get up on roleplay's level, scrubs. Woot-woot! Roleplay wins games.
  7. Wasn't there talk way back when [Stamina] was made Inherent? You know, about why making [Hasten] Inherent wasn't on the table? If the O.P. meant this to be taken differently: Even with the reductions, I'd favor making Hasten an Auto, but require more of the Pool to be taken, essentially shuffle around the five so that you have to have more than one prerequisite to get Hasten.
  8. The staff have the ability to control all drop rates and how things drop/don't drop. They are able to set the T.O.s to 0% and replace them with anything that currently exists, including things that are not normally a part of random drops.
  9. I agree with that opinion. When I was first learning the game back in the day I also believed this, and was disappointed when I found out how T.O.s and D.O.s actually work.
  10. Insightful. Might you have thoughts on anywhere Manipulation could be proliferated to?
  11. My complaint has more to do with the way Influence scales into the sky as you level but never provides a meaningfully widespread way to remove that Influence from the economy. I'd fix this through N.P.C. stores selling meaningful Enhancements.
  12. This thread just became about over-the-top zone ideas. You need to describe the zone, the villains there, and a zone event. I'll start. Concept: Because of possible attacks by the Hydra the sewers, storm drains, and ground have all been sealed with concrete poured over them. The subsequent natural rain caused problems. I want to see an underwater zone, where the giant blue forcefield walls around the zones act as the glass of a fish tank. Use the various flying poses to make a "swimming underwater" animation that is forced on while moving within the zone. Appropriate villain groups? Anything with larger stuff they can spawn in smaller numbers. Zone event? On the surface, torpedo boats occasionally drop depth charges to attack villain groups. There is a layer of air at the top allowing Flight to be used to get around the zone without foes attacking.
  13. Do we bump this or award the post? Which one makes the post get more visibility?
  14. Curious to pick your brain on something. Would your feelings be stronger if we were talking about adding Manipulation or Assault to the list of Sentinel Primaries?
  15. Personally I have the opinion that Influence should be worth more, and I see the practices at the auction house as insufficient to reduce that issue. Note that others, including several members of the staff disagree with this interpretation. If you disagree as well that's fine. Just my perspective.
  16. One important fact is the Absorb calculation being independent of any healing the same power does. They are both Schedule 1 bonuses, and Enhancements track these as two effects even they they're not, so you may have situations where you care about different values because of how the base values or global buffs from Set bonuses or whatever is interacting.
  17. You're all forgetting (or unaware of) the reasons for the closure. Back then, when I heard about sunset I ran and got the quarterly earnings report. I looked at how much they were making from different games at the time. I followed what was going on with their business in different parts of the world. Note that C.o.X. was not one of their more profitable games for several quarters running. Note that they had just launched a new Korean-style M.M.O. in Korea and had shipped but not opened the game in Japan. The Korean release had not turned enough profit to pay for the Japanese release. They would have had to turn the servers off due to bankruptcy anyway. The company cannibalized the servers C.o.X. was running on to cut costs for the Japanese launch. You and I can look at not keeping the player data as a mistake, but business school tells you C.o.X. players will just migrate to your new games (which is not true, but business school tells you to think that way). Hey, N.C.Soft were stupid. They shouldn't have caused bad P.R., but they were an Asia-based company so they fell prey to the same cognitive biases as the bigger company that came before them. N.C.Soft made the same mistakes Nintendo made with Nintendo of America during the rise of Sega, and in Japan with the rise of Playstation, and again in America with the rise of XBox, and again everywhere with the rise of the later generation Playstation consoles, until Nintendo was reduced to making portables because nobody else ever focused on control of the portables market... and they ignored their American fans for so long that now they're releasing fan mods as their official releases. Yeah, they'll make unpopular decisions from time to time. You're right to assess them based on a combination of prior performance and recent events... just like the human mind is wired to do. Why should we care? Because businesses are composed of human beings and policies. Garbage in, garbage out. They never learned from others' mistakes.
  18. This is why dealing with inflation through market controls at Wentworth's won't ever contribute to fixing the real problems with the in-game economy.
  19. I agree, there should be proliferation/new Archetypes that swap around all of the Assault and Manipulation powersets. Stuff like A.Rifle/Savage and Dominators packing Plants and Energy Manipulation would be really cool.
  20. The correct answer is that current T.O.s/D.O.s/S.O.s/I.O.s don't fit. The current Schedule 1/2/3/4 bonuses for them can't work mathematically. Nerfing won't be enough. The staff have said "no throwing out the whole system" so fixing this problem will require lateral thinking, not just buff/debuffs. You're right, O.P., everyone agrees something needs to be done. This board is full of that message. There are bad egoes in the mix, and nefarious "they" want to shout the wise down or to play god more than they want to be a part of a contributing community. Lurk, upvote, and ignore users you see hassling or lying. Respond to staff posts and posts from new users. You'll have more impact than you will if you become a target.
