Archetype that made the worst first impression on you?
NNDeepdish replied to DR_Mechano's topic in General Discussion
TA/Archery defender before they got buffed. That was a beatdown to play but I loved the powerset so much I stuck with it. -
Encouraging play through low level content.
NNDeepdish replied to Greenwraith's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Tbh those same players would still pass it, and just blaze through them at Ouro for the accolades once they're higher level. You can't blame them for it, they've been there and done that and slogging through them with weak enhancements isn't always that fun for people. Also chasing down existing accolades from level 1 is already enough to get you to halfway to 50 without ever running a single story arc. For example I'm leveling a VEAT redside right now chasing the Force of Nature accolade. I'm almost level 20 from running mayhem missions and I've outleveled all kinds of low level stuff... and I WANT to do that content. -
Ooh yeah, photobucket's glory days are long over. Recommend imgur or gyazo

That's a great topic that I should have included.. what was your first travel power? Mine? Teleportation. Sounded so cool, until I was always out of endurance

I've recreated a few power combinations from live, but not any of my characters. The names, costumes and even genders in some cases are all new

You just got accepted into the Beta for CoH. You've created an account and downloaded the beta client. You log in for the first time and begin to create your character. You're not sure what to expect. You've read about this game online and seen screenshots and have been active on the forums and everything sounds amazing and exciting and you hope it lives up to the hype. Here we go! Character creation. The archetypes are laid out before you.. Tanker, Scrapper, Defender, Controller, Blaster. You click over each one and review the available powers… they all sound fun. How do you decide what to play first? The character creator was more robust than you could have imagined. There hasn't been this level of customization in any other MMORPG you've played… what costume do you make first? For me… I went with Assault Rifle, mostly because an rpg with a combat system like this that had GUNS was sort of the first of its kind. I was playing Anarchy Online at the time and I was a soldier (for the same reason, guns) but the sci-fi setting wasn't my favorite and the combat system was way different and tbh a little boring. I saw assault rifle and was like "Ok! trying that one first!" What AT and powers did you try out first and why? What costume did you make first?

I think the difference here is that he had two accounts and the name was in use on one. "Superguy" was on account A. He wanted "Superguy" on account B He deletes"Superguy" from account A, and then tries to rename a char on account B to "Superguy" as it should be free. He gets an error. He re-creates "Superguy" on account A with no issue, then renames him, so in theory the name should be free. He tries to rename a char on account B to "Superguy" again, and again gets an error. There's probably just a time delay from when you free up the name to where the system recognizes that the name is free. If the name recycling threads on the server forums are any indication, there's not an issue i'm aware of.

Agree. I would also not consider myself a roleplayer or have really much active interest in roleplaying my character, but I do appreciate and enjoy existing in an environment where that goes on and would certainly be respectful and play along in any scenarios i got caught up in.

Server Merger Needed to Sustain Playerbase
NNDeepdish replied to Saborwrath1's topic in General Discussion
We can agree to disagree. The subject of the thread insinuates that if something isn't done, the playerbase will dissipate which is in my opinion unnecessary fearmongering without any evidence or accurate statistics, something I don't appreciate. There's absolutely no need to implement forced server merging when anyone can move to whatever server they want. If everyone wanted to play on the same server, they would. So why do you think they don't? -
Server Merger Needed to Sustain Playerbase
NNDeepdish replied to Saborwrath1's topic in General Discussion
The servers are paid for by the donations and there has been no issue meeting the donation goals within hours of them being opened. Way too early for these "sky is falling" freakouts. You can transfer to whatever server you want. Some people like low pop servers. If the donation goals start struggling, let's freak out about it then.- 88 replies

Wait... is your chest piece spectrum under the trenchcoat?? I didn't think that was available to females under trenchcoats as I've tried to go for a very similar look before and it wasn't there....

Yep this has been on my radar for a while, but I haven't picked it up yet! -
Consolidated CoH difficulty thread (Includes Poll!)
NNDeepdish replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't think you're following. You can't vote "I do not want any changes to difficulty / rewards at all" because question 2 is required. You'd need an N/A option on question 2 otherwise you can't submit a vote for question 1. -
Consolidated CoH difficulty thread (Includes Poll!)
NNDeepdish replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
There's a flaw in your poll. Question 1 has an option to vote for no changes, but question 2 is required in order to submit. -
Oh how perfect
