  1. That's the beauty of it. There are many more ways to play the game than most think. I played what worked for me. You may have had a very different experience which is great. Doesn't mean either of us are wrong or even "more right than the other" it's just how we roll as individuals. That's the wonder of this amazing environment that's still going strong after two decades!
  2. Bloody Luxury! The original snipe was completely wank. It was devastating in its power but it was single target and failed to kill much more than a Lt. but if you didn't already have a tank aggroing the target, the whole mob would alpha strike you and that would usually mean a trip to the hospital and running back to the mission, with a boatload of debt. Fast Snipe isn't exactly brilliant now but it is a shit-tonne better than it was, so unless you want to take that aggro (Sentinels maybe?) it works mostly now but does offer a nod to its legacy origins. Back then, I quickly found that there were two powers from a blast set you could easily skip, the snipe and the T9, simply because of their lack of value
  3. Maybe it's a one man channel. He's always standing alone, without a dream in his heart... that earworm? you're most welcome!
  4. your mot juste is entirely applicable in this instance
  5. Welcome home I'm now struggling to work out the difference between a just hello and an unjust hello see what you've done now?
  6. That's what she said!
  7. Presumably the Rouge Isles will be on the planet to the immediate left of the one arrowed.
  8. Their history does suggest a lot of Caribbean historical influence with lots of pirates and anarchic doings in the 17th century but the geography doesn't quite fit sadly. It does make me wonder if the world in which Paragon is set is the same as our own. The only maps I've ever seen are the zones and the wider city map. (I used to have the one that came in the box on my wall.) Given the history of Paragon it's a safe bet it's in an alternate universe and so we can make up the geography as we wish, so the Caribbean is probably mid-Atlantic with the Rogue Isles being the most prominent in a significant archipelago
  9. Well we did play on Freedom for quite some time and history proved they couldn't take it!
  10. It's Scotland. What they didn't say is that in this alternate world, the Atlantic ocean is very very small and the Americas haven't really divorced themselves from Eurasia
  11. I appreciate it's "the internet" and you can lose a lot with text but that didn't strike me as a joke or even vaguely amusing but maybe our senses of humour are unaligned. But I think it's worth reiterating that just because a power set exists you are not obliged to play it, and others may well enjoy what you don't.
  12. I suspect you're trolling us but if you're being serious I have no words 🪃
  13. That's a real pile on
  14. I believe the rules have been revised and are now known as the Dr Doom Rules.
  15. which particular anatomical lips are you referring to?
  16. Wow... I'd forgotten them too. I also realized I omitted slings, which is an important primitive weapon too. It also has a biblical reference as some might recall... as does the jawbone of an ass. The latter one is probably less doable and it would be very unfair to deprive @Snarky of the power of speech! 🤣
  17. I'm not old enough to remember when that movie was good. I think most primitive weapons have dual function as a missile weapon and club... other than clubs themselves which once thrown away tend to display sub par performance subsequently. Ultimately most weapons are about delivering significant amounts of kinetic energy to an opponent before they can do it to you but I think a ranged "prim weapon set" might have all the above as part of the set - just with different models and animations as appropriate. I genuinely hadn't considered blow guns as a weapon so thanks for that suggestion and I agree all origin types can be accommodated. Natural is simply great skill in utility, whereas Science and Tech give options for targeting and different ordnance in payload. Mutant can be great aim and/or strength and magic can do anything you bloody like mate it's magic.
  18. I like the thought of it being a power pool or maybe an APP even. I'd not considered that but it could work. I think pool powers tend to have other abilities, like travel or boost to de/buffs but as an APP Boomerang could have a lot of potential, maybe adding Stun as a secondary effect?
  19. I was watching a youtube about boomerangs and it occurred to me it might make a very good weapon for ranged and melee weapon sets. Similarly an atl-atl would be a good ranged weapon and also might provide some melee ability using the launcher as a club. I like the thought of these, but I don't know how practicable it would be to create sets. There'd be a lot of new animations, and I don't know if we have the capability to do that yet but that's a serious consideration. Also while it is great to get more power sets, is a ranged damage set the highest priority? I'm not sure that it is. Also in a game where technology and magic feature heavily, is a power set that effectively involves "throwing a lump of wood" really in keeping with the game? (Explosive boomerangs?) I like the thought but there's a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that it could be made to work effectively.
  20. I have a good deal of sympathy with this but I think in many ways, the issue is not with the levels but how easy the game has become over the years. Even on a team of peers, where there is nobody theoretically "better" or higher level it seems a few on the team will just steamroller the mobs at the front leaving others to follow behind cleaning up detritus and otherwise mindlessly button mashing without the need to give thought to their actions. Personally I think it's a massive issue in the game and the gradual erosion of challenge is a potentially fatal flaw in the modern game but I seem to be one of the few voices to even mention it, and even fewer in favour of something of a reset. That said, I'm not a decision maker and I don't play that often these days so I have no doubt the direction of travel will continue
  21. From Pineapple to Pine casket in one simple lesson.
  22. It would be good if we could have a wider diversity of characters to choose from but right now I think I wanna make a brute called Ummm Lout
  23. That's never stopped you before!
