  1. Unique Dragon said it better 18 years ago
  2. 50ft of paracord, Swiss Army knife, torch, bandages, cigarettes, lighter, tinder & sparks for fire, compass, condoms, pen and non-water soluble paper, mylar blanket etc... Utility belt for a natural character. They are what you wish them to be in the moment.
  3. Are you going off on a tangent? Or maybe angling for attention I feel it acutely. Stop being obtuse!
  4. of course the worst thing you can do is trap something in your fly, which invariably results in tears and a funny walk
  5. clearly she's made a happy man very old!
  6. If you think the stats are good there, try six slotting it with Mako's Bite Win! 😇
  7. There are several bars in Pocket D and of course in all the good bases. I'm sure you'll find at least a couple of bars that will get you where you want to be, even if it's not level 50 🤣 Cheers!
  8. Mind Control has the worst pet! Fly Trap is actually pretty good. It's robust, not as stupid as some and survives along side you. Don't measure a pet's effectiveness by it's DPS alone. Fly Trap does some good debuffing too and combined with other plant powers well worth the investment in slots
  9. Kill 1 @Snarky and the badge is yours for the taking!
  10. Dark/Time would work very well I imagine, given that dark is one of the more damaging control sets. Plant goes with everything Mind/Time gives you great possibilities for names and should be pretty good, but maybe a bit slow solo. take your pick!
  11. Very true, but effectively archaic and might affect the reader's perception of your age! 🤣
  12. If enough people pile in it will be a mass debate!
  13. /me checks name that'll do Actually I have a few "main" characters and so might be signature but Scarlet is always going to be the real one
  14. Well... that 's a whole extra topic in itself. Short version - without going into too much personal detail I was at pretty well rock bottom when I discovered CoH - and it took me to a safe place. When I was a kid, one of the few bright lights in my childhood was Auntie Kate. I would have been around 7 (maybe 1970?, you can do the sums) when she bought me a whole bunch of British reprints of Marvel comics. They were B&W with a colour wash, green for Hulk, blue for FF, red for Spidey etc etc... and I loved them. They were stuff I'd never have been allowed at home but she was the best other grandma I never had and they fed into my love of the heroic that I was already familiar from Greek and Norse legend, but much more accessible. So... moving forward, I was rediscovering my love of comics, in a bad place and... 17 years later I have done a huge amount, many times over in our game. Sometimes I button mash when it's autonomic and a safe place to be but I'm not totally focused on the game. Sometimes I put heart, effort and time into my characters, their creation and playability/destiny. (See some of my other posts here, especially the Character concept help request if you wish to know more) I will say that City of Heroes isn't simply a game to me, it's a lifestyle. In a quiet, unsung way it's a massive part of my life and I'm eterntally grateful that we still have it.
  15. the way you write affects the effect you wish to convey Useful linkage https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/affect-vs-effect-usage-difference
  16. Fixed it for you, for effect.
  17. I'm honestly struggling to recognise anything in the way I play the game with the OP's thread. One of us doesn't seem to get the other.
  18. I get the principle behind this thread and the fun that drives it but I have a fundamental hatred of trash talk in any walk of life. At its simplest level it leads to unreconcilable rivalries - and if you don't know where that leads, go to an English soccer game and sit in the home fans stand in the away kit. At its worst it simply doesn't bare thinking about. But more than that, in my experience, trash talk often blows up in your face, and leaves you the one with egg on it. Treat your enemies with respect, before and after. That is the only way to truly change hearts and minds. Magnanimity in victory and respect in defeat... Try and understand your opponents point of view but always hold true to your principles.
  19. Before Page 7 dropped, I had a great toon. I was really enjoying it, got it all the way to 50 on an entirely SO build Hit 50, got a few of the usual procs - all that I could afford at that time - and respecced into a "better" build. It was dogshit. It performed worse at 50 than 49 by a significant margin and it did not improve until I'd got almost all the build finalised. That said once it was finished, it rocks, totally I think there's an issue of expectation vs reality here too - and I'm kind of loathe to give a yes/no answer. I think I approach each case on merit now but I'm also thinking that this is the perfect opportunity to utilise alternative builds, which is something I don't do very often if at all these days. I'd also add that builds on the forums do tend to min/max and be extremely optimised for a particular characteristic that makes them a) super effective and b) really expensive. I am firmly of the belief that there's a median space where an average IO set build will out perform an SO build very readily and be good enough for all but the most difficult content in the game, doubly so on any competent team or league. In other words, don't sweat it - don't rush to respec until you are absolutely ready or feel it's imperative.
  20. I've experienced similar issues, but I have also noticed that I frequently do not see the physical badge marker on the ground until after the badge itself has been awarded. On occasion I've gotten a badge award some minutes after I passed there the marker should be - as though the system seem to be lagging behind in its accounting.
  21. There's probably a joke about Dolly the Sheep there.
  22. Scarlet Shocker had a snipe. It took me literally ages to understand that sniping attracted the alpha strike. I was regularly teaming with a pair of tanks in the Hollows so I'd often open up the combat by sniping the boss then the tanks would go in. They'd be fine, I'd faceplant and have to run back from Atlas Park hospital to rejoin the fray. Rinse, repeat... I'd got all the debt badges before level 20
