I play Invulnerability and Dark most often on Defense sets. I use Hyperstrike's Invul templates. I will not go into details, because everything I do there is pretty much plagiarism Dark. Hmmm. Many people on the boards F this up so bad it just makes me shake my head. They do not take either / or both Stun and Fear Toggles. For whatever reasons. Shit decision. Everybody that knows anything about Defense sets in CoH knows this: Defense is better than Resist is better than Heal. Simple Math statement. Def > Res > Heal. Dark is a Resists set, so should be in the 2nd tier, at best. Built correctly this is not only an A tier set, but in most cases an S tier set. I have Tanked Rom on a Master Ms Lib run using Dark successfully. So, why? First. DO NOT try to build Defense. You have no Defense Debuff Resistance. Build Resistance. But you point out, didn't you say Resistance is less effective than Defense? How does that work? So... I tell you. Dark stands Def > Res > Heal on it's head and then dances on it's feet. Dark has non suppressing Stealth. So you can brutalize 17 Longbow and their buddies in the next spawn a few feet away stand around, drink coffee, and idly wonder what is going on. Dark's Stun, Fear, and To Hit debuffs provide a VERY strong "faux defense" to STOP attacks so you do not need Def, Res, or Heal. This works on the trash. On beasts like Rom and AVs? You can get most of your armors at 100% Res easy. This means they cannot be debuffed. Res will cap at 90% but Res is it's own Res debuff Res. 100% works against everything but a few weird LB wardens with a special power. You cannot get Energy to 100, but you can get it very high if you try. Hard. So you are mostly taking tiny damage from everything that does hit you. Then Rom wallops you with ALL the energy damage. But you got high (if not perfect) energy resistance... AND... the best heal in the game. Hands down. No contest. Take you from 1% to 100%. and it is up every few seconds. Dark. Not for everyone. Expensive. Tough to build right. Tough to understand at first. S class armor just waiting for you to try.

I build Dark Armor to emphasize what it does. RESIST...it is NOT Futile. Your "faux" Defense comes from to hit debuffs, Fear Aura, Stun Aura, and unsuppressing Stealth. Frak chasing Defense that goes away when someone pokes at it. Lost Cause. RESISTANCE!!!

All my ice Blast toons use a Macro for targeting 'Target" and "Myself" for the rains. Makes for an extra tray, but worth it.

maybe you are the only one that got that message, because the Brute inherent has been heavily nerfed. then other Melee ATOs get buffed, AND all the other Melee ATs got great ATOs while Brutes got crap. Everyone that has "adjusted" the game has seen 'good reasons' to make sure Brutes get the very short end every time.

Giving +Fury as an ATO effect on Brutes is equivalent to giving +0% damage in 90% encounters. Not my job to solve the games issues. But this is one of the many reasons I stopped playing Brutes. It is an AT that has been hated by EVERY generation of CoH/V Devs, or at least hated on. I have walked away.

this game has a lot of "I got you" effects that only apply a few seconds later. in combat that seems long. Ha ha. I made it to safety. you cant touch me. I'm dead?

I never know. I am never on test. I play on live and when it drops there my feedback starts i am still giving “feedback” on the great brute fury nerf and the disparity between ATOs that are incredible for Scrapping and garbage for Brutes always to no avail

It almost always depends on your playstyle. If you want all up front damage do not play Ice or Storm blasts. m'kay?

I dual slot Dull Pain with two 53 Hami Rech/Heal (very spendy) I use Hyperstrike Invul builds and he tend to slap in Rech/Heals in there. I just spent a crapton and fuel injected them.

Debuffs were generally ignored by me, even on toons like a Dark Armor that used them Over time I realized how effective they are. Dark’s to hit debuffs are incredibly good. Game changing My latest obsession is an AR Dev Blaster. The smoke grenades with the debuff to to hit and perception can change a hopeless situation to an easy one. Caltrops debuff to movement helps keep everyone where they should be. War is debuff hell

I run Dark with a both Fear and Stun Auras. It is amazing how much weight they carry.

Glad you found Homecoming. This is seriously one of the best games for so many reasons Hey, as a personal favor? When you do a Posi 1, on the last mission…. Stay away from the front of the town hall. Its a personal favor, so just if you see a toon with Snark…something. Snarky Snarkthis Snarkthat. Any team without me on it feel free to stand and paw at the door like a dog trying to get in out of the rain. Just not on mine. I have seen it. It loses its attraction after the first 70-100 times.

i'm still missing something. but, i am undead and miss a lot. it does remind me of some quality players who were musically inclined. their stuff ran better mostly because they were more focused and more patient. all i can take from this is people who discuss music theory are just more geared to longer sessions.
