  1. So you never did the Trial in the Hollows "Cavern of Transcendance" where you had to click 8 glowies at the exact same time. (thankfully the Homecoming team changed that) Because that was both boring and annoying. But that is what you want?
  2. Please do not overlook the blatantly obvious. The most fun character ever Super Strength Willpower Brute DO TAKE the power every power-builder skips Hand Clap. With Hand Clap and Footstomp tou are turning mobs into popcorn kernels in the microwave. They have no idea where they will end up but it has nothing to do with where they thought they were going it does boatloads of damage it is not the most survivable character out there. But it is in the same neighborhood
  3. This question makes me shake my head. I have played the game a few … a long time. What is the reason for this question? Okay. You want my opinion. It is a great game. It is a game for creating.... (can I get a long whipped cream drum roll here? ….wait for it.....) SUPER POWERED BEINGS. So. We can create super powered beings. Success. I created a Redside only Dom today and was kissing floor and strategizing how to level. A friend from the SG farmed a few of us made 11-33 in there. It is still going to be hard to run 33-50, but with some effort I will get there. then I can kiss the ground in Incarnate Trials! Woot. If I had made the same Dom Goldside I would be spending a half hour prepping before each mission with misc buffs, mailing myself inspirations and gearing up like WW3 was about to land on my head. Or I can take a monstrously evil concept like a creature from another nether dimension, slap on Dark/Invul or Dark/Will on a Brute and OWN all the story arcs I want to run solo. zero prep before each mission. On Single Origin Enhancers. Okay, at low levels I would need blue inspirations on the Invul. You can make a LOT of costumes for a LOT of concepts and play a LOT of content a LOT of different ways. Did I mention the Homecoming Team has given us back a game that gives a LOT more than most MMORPGs? Is it too easy? Yes. Is it just right? Yes. Is it too hard? Yes!!! Because it can be any of those things. If you only play an uber build someone else designed for you and someone else farmed you the levels for and someone else instructs you where to stand in the incarnate trial it might seem like an easy and boring game. But then you're a schmuck. Okay, I said it. If you don't like the game the way it is because it's "too easy" you 1) haven't played the game outside of AE and OURO Incarnate trials 2) Have no concept of how you can have a ton of fun on a Brute running with SOs for 40 levels. So, please. Downloas a build off the boards to MIDs, go to the AH to get enhancers other peeps have crafted, With money you farmed in 1 room in AE. (in an AE mission another player wrote) After someone else farmed you to 50. And complain about it being too easy. Seriously. Why is this question being asked?

    DA/DA Brute help

If you mean Dark Melee Dark Armor i have a build posted in this forum that i use on my main. On phone and away from comp right now this build is what i use as my current main. It is crazy strong. Was expensive
  7. A Dominator who gets their AoE hold by level 18. When you hit DOM and then AoE hold the Shadow simulacrums the fight is over. Similar with most tough Boss battles. That way when the team is facing a nightmare you just lock it down and everyone cake walks through it.
  8. Def based sets. they are purely at the whim on the RNG. Super Reflexes epitomizes this defense strategy. Almost everything misses. When it doesn't you get a full hate sandwich, with sides. For attack sets I would pick something that is a proc monster. They are vicious. I do not like them. Unseemly. I am firmly in the camp of sturdy defenses, and solid trudging attacks. But some sets really shine with Frankenslotted Proc Monster thinking.
  9. I have flirted with low level Doms on Homecoming. I still remember the mid teens Dom I took on a Posi 1. I carefully hoarded my Domination button for the last 5 minutes of the mission, We hit the Shadow fight. I hit Dom and mass held. And it was over. Cleanup on aisle two. The team was like. Wait? That...that was it? Yep. That's all it needed.
  10. I have not played a Dom since live. There a ran a 50'd Energy/Grav a bit. I have built this Dark/Dark/Soul Dom. I have some big questions. I chased recharge. I not only got Perma Dom but Perma Hasten. I have zero Defenses. So, this is all about bring it or go home. Does that work? Or should I just pack wakies like I'm on the Titanic? Are Haunts good on Dark? I know Pets are the Uber thing on most sets/builds. Do I need these on this build? Because I want to throw in Phase Shift like crazy desperate. That way once a minute I have a "get out of jail free" card if things start to go south. Phase shift, go invisible if necessary and come back at a different angle, agro point. Also useful for repositioning during TPN trials and CoT caves. Very Thematic and I really want it lol. Do I need Dark Consumption? It is not up terribly often and Perma Dom gives you regular infusion of Endurance? I very intentionally put Touch of the Nictus in Life Drain. I know it is an incredible attack. I am not short on regular ST attacks. Dark Blast, Dark Grasp, Gloom, and Moonbeam will be doing the heavy lifting there. I felt I needed a huge heal when I went to Life Drain so enhanced that. I also love the bonuses and more Negative Energy damage thematic. I have never run a pet class. (well Singularity, but I forget how I slotted it or my theory behind what I did) Did I slot Umbral Beast okay or should I use a different set or different enhancers in the set? The resist proc? Basically, I know the Dom will work. But did I go about building it sideways or is this anywhere in the ballpark of a decent strategy? Thank you. 11. I may have to do Blaster. I rolled a Dark Dark Dom. Then did the buildout on mids. There us just about every purple set on the thing. So The thing us not viable for leveling i will level it and build it out. I want to see what it plays like but back to the drawing board on the story arc project
  12. then what exactly is the update? been like this for quite some time. get hero slayer badge, opens up contact, do all mayhems. the change is?
  13. Notice in my original post I wanted, or thought it should be, tied with badges. A farmer can grind 100 levels relatively fast. My highest right now is 40-something I believe. My current main is 27. I game a lot. But a farmer would look at those and consider I might have only been grinding a few weeks. Hard grinding, but very doable. I tied the reward with vet levels AND badge levels. This shows you not only grind hard on the character but explore the game. I have seen a random content on the boards about not needing any more power. Okay. These rewards are for those people who play one character to great depth. I seriously doubt 99% of characters you game alongside will have ONE of these rewards, much less all three I have suggested. The rewards are specifically there to give something tangible to someone who games on one main for a long time. Notice I said I had one main at 40-something and my current main is 27? Maybe these rewards would encourage me to focus in on badging and running content I enjoy for a few months more on one (please not both lol) of the two characters. That is what a reward system does, it encourages continued involvement. The rewards I have laid out are specifically not game breaking power level wise. Three extra slots total would be a sweet gift beyond all measure (or would it?), and at the end of the day give a few percentage Res (in one area) or Rech or Regen. If anyone can show me how those 3 slots will overpower one 100th level vet character compared to a brand new 50 I will give them 100 mil. That is a real offer, but it has to be blatantly obvious, not subjective. Anyone can look at the explanation and go "Oh yeah, that would seriously crank that beyond anything we thought was conceivable!" Because I honestly am not sure it could. The reason I think it would be nice to have this type of reward is I spend a lot of time in mids and like any tinkerer I am always looking for one more part. And like most tinkerers at a certain point you cannot get the basic vehicle to exceed design parameters no matter how much X you add to the design. Conceptually I know this, just always looking for one more thing. It is the classic Hoarding Badging Grinding aspect of why we do what we do. This type of shiny is just another suggested milestone along that path. Again, while I appreciate the many of you who have endorsed this plan I think we should still consider it carefully as we move forward. Thank you.
  14. I will be heavily i/o building the character. I have run and i/o’d a lot of squishies on Homecoming and only 50d one dark dark blaster. The parts from everyone else is lying around in a base. Full sets of blaster dom and sentinel atos. Lots of ranged sets hold sets immob sets etc
  15. Yeah. Hover Blasting with some ranged defense is fun. I keep coming back to AR. Huge range on that Then if the map forces you to be tight You can set up the death fort and watch the madness. My problem with AR is i dont like weapons much. I do have one concept for it based off “Sarge” from the movie “Frighteners” played by R Lee Ermey. Ghost AR/Traps. Which explains disappearing weapons why the weapon does so much damage. Underlying logic really helps me with keeping character interest
  16. I can see you all are on the fence about this. so please continue to think carefully about the wonderful motivation of receiving another enhancement slot for powers. i really appreciate your openess to the concept
  17. This is so funny to me I do not know how to articulate it. I just keep re-reading it and giggling. seriously though, you want a Vigilante. And just story arcs from peeps like Dr Shelly Percy. Which...Yeah. I have to go back to giggling again. Thanks.
  18. I think of it as a Hell Hound. Which puts it then squarely into Demon/Devil characters for me. A lot of my Dark is Undead characters. It is odd how the game choices interact with my choices to define where certain AT powersets have to go for me
  19. Snarky

    Shadow Field

I am trying to understand this. It looks different than the only Dom I know, Grav. Does it not hold everyone, but just a few in the area? Because the description and the detailed info both indicate a "chance" of holding... If it is not a hard hold, how does Darkness control, well, control?
  20. interesting. I have played crabs, never a huntsman. had to delete my crab and opull a couple other tricks as well. that backpack started showing up on ALL my characters. like a virus. sad. But Huntsman? Thank you. Will put that in the hat.
  21. I am flirting with the idea of starting another Redside run. Every contact/every story arc. I usually do this with a Brute. I tried it with a Tank a couple months back and got to around low 30s. Then the Tanks were updated and I wanted that thing incarnated asap. Also, the kill alls were killing me. So slow. But....A squishy? I have never tried it before. But, with I/os, temp powers, and every trick in the book (mine and the ones you folks show me) I am pretty sure it can be done. The only question is...what AT and powerset. Thoughts on possibles: Blaster AR/Dev. Things get nasty can always build a fort pull and watch the fireworks. I am half tempted to do this. Or Dark/Psi Or Fire.Fire. The pure Blap-happy killer Trollers: I hear Grav is super powerful on a Troller, and I love Grav conceptually and in game. Plant Troller. Here those are mad powerful. Not an easy concept for me to work with though. My thoughts keep going to poison ivy from Batman. I got nothing character wise. I have never run trollers and those bits of info is everything I know about them doms: I have had a couple 50 doms. Okay, not since live, but I ran them. I ran Grav / Nrg. I think Fires/Psi, Dark/Dark would also be strong possibilities I am not sure a Corruptor is a good choice. They really shine in teams. I think some of the power sets are still decent solo though I am not sure I could do Defender. I am not sure I have ever even rolled one. Sentinel. The odd Duck. Impossible to min max, yet soloing +0/x1 1-50 may be the ATs sweet spot. I guess the outlier here is Stalker. I have never seriously ran a Stalker. Not really a squishy. I suppose Sentinel isn't either. Kill alls on a Stalker? I know they excel at glowie runs like 1 min later done. But it is like Brute lite on kill alls. Any thoughts would be great. I will probably be percolating this for a few days unless lightning strikes or I haven 7 cups of coffee tonight.
  22. I agree. I e-mailed a 100 mil to someone who said they were new to the game and dead broke the other night. dropping a few mil every couple days on myself to not break concept is pretty much a no brainer. And the money is a pay it forward. Before I learned how to earn (thanks to the good people on the board patiently walking me through it) I could not afford crap. I told people how I was struggling and making cash with my strange tactics and a few (more than 2!) threw buckets of Inf my way.
  23. This is a very well thought out critique of Redside. While Redside arguably has some of the best storylines in the game, it is a specific type of storylines that it falls into. I have said before to do Kalinda and Burke's stories if you plan to run Redside. This is because they lay everything out so perfectly. If you like that, dig in, there are months of the same set up for you. This is not a perfect explanation of what they tell you, but it is not wrong either. Kalinda: Work for Arachnos. We reward loyalty. There is no other game in town. Watch your back. Burke: Screw Arachnos. Work for them, but steal from them. Oh, and some of them are honorable. But get your cookies and keep your distance. If you have a different character concept than will fit easily into running missions for the semi-organized evil organization Arachnos, whether being a loyalists or a traitorous selfish rebel, then the Redside storylines (mostly) will not work for you. There are some exceptions. A few of the contacts Redside offer storylines that explore meta concepts for CoH/Cov, but even these will almost always flirt with villain politics. For me this has always worked out. Somehow I just naturally click with the selfish backstabbing greedy pretend to work for you while looking for the angles world of Redside storylines. (looks at sentence, sighs) But seriously, I enjoy running those same arcs endlessly. Itching to run a complete all Redside contacts completionist toon again. Had one up to low 30s and just 50'd them. Was a Tank, horrid choice for kill alls. Doing Brute probably, or maybe I will go nuts and try a Dom...no....that would be....hmmmmm But yes, I do enjoy the petty villainy of CoV Redside. You might enjoy Goldside. So much more political and cerebral. I personally hate the missions for pure politics sake. Give me a Bank Robbery anyday. I sort of enjoy the difficulty of Goldside, but it is a messed up place over there. Even the street cleaning robots are politics junkies.
  24. Now this is an actual discussion. Thank you. It has made me realize I do not care if they make 1 more power pool available or all of them. Really a P2W option for fly that works on magic characters would have my propeller beanie spinning like mad lol.
