  1. Yeah I probably should have clarified my comment to the first 3 attacks. Significantly, both of my /KM tanks take only those + Burst for attacks, which is where my comments were coming from. Burst is on the high end but not the highest for PBAOE (pretty sure that honour goes to Spine Burst at 3s?) and Focused Burst is faster than Impale at least but there's a really small sample pool for ranged attacks in melee sets (and I'm ignoring Claws over in the corner 🙂 ). 100% agree on Repulsing Torrent and Concentrated Strike needing some kinda help. I'm still gonna come back to the animations not helping the set's cause either. With many other sets, the "hitting" part of the attack either happens earlier in, or throughout, the animation, while KM is all windup with the hit at the very end. Style over substance and all that. Not sure what can be done to manage that tho as I assume it's all baked into the code spaghetti...
  2. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's not the animation times (at least not all of them), but rather when in the animation the attack hits that causes KM to feel slow. Like all the hits are at the very end of the animation instead of somewhere in the middle. The first 3 attacks have remarkably fast animations (0.83s, 1.07s, 1.2s), but they all feel slow and disjointed/disconnected because the hit comes late.
  3. Just got my newest alt Road Ronin out of Praetoria, and I figure he's due for a Paragon City makeover. The only costume piece that has to stay as-is would be his sword (ancestral blade and all that), and I'd like to retain the grey-black look of the bio armours (he's coated in asphalt). Any takers want to help me jazz up this disgraced Syndicate enforcer? roadronin1.costume
  4. Too early to say this is a favourite, but I just ran a Kat/Bio through goldside and that was much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Lethal damage notwithstanding, the higher base accuracy of Katana and the +hit from Offensive Adaptation kept me from too many whiffs, and Divine Avalanche nicely supplemented the rest of the defensive side of things (especially considering I ran the entire 1-20 with just the 5 prestige enhancements and handful of low-end generic IOs). Should be a nice jump in power when I migrate to Paragon and remove my self-imposed limitation of no outside assistance. (And it's tempting to re-roll the same combo and take it through again, this time allowing myself to pay to upgrade & see how much more I can take on.)
  5. Pretty sure I haven't done any Praetoria content since Going Rogue was released. And I've been feeling a bit jaded with blueside lately. So why not dive into goldside? This guy is likely to be a pure Loyalist playthrough, which I know for sure I haven't done before. But that's only fitting for the IDF Enforcer...
  6. Finally decided to try my hand at the new Symphony Control set, pairing it with Rad Emission because why not. The name came first this time, followed by a costume and (very) tragic backstory.

    Thanks for both of these, Ringo. Absolutely giving me some food for thought. Definitely liking the def/res values a lot more than my attempt. I'll give it a couple of days of noodling & see if I can get on the test server to try things out. Then hopefully back with a "final" (for now) build that works for me.

    I've been a fan of Electrical Affinity since it dropped. 50'd an EAff/Rad for general TF running, and recently started a second one. Figured I would pair it with the new & improved /Sonic, as that's a set I have never played and the -res adds something that EAff doesn't do. It's doing OK (at Lv28) but I'm sure I can squeeze more out of it. This guy is basically a team-only toon, and I'd like to push for use on some of the higher-end content. (Also a thing I really haven't done before.) Got a long way to go til that point however, so this is a leveling questions post as much as a "what do at 50?" questions post. Questions I don't know the answers to: Am I getting enough out of Maneuvers & Tactics? OR would those be better served as, say, Scream and/or Shockwave? (Or something else?) Leadership is pretty much always on my radar as a Defender due to values, but does it really help here? I recognize that the build as-is does not have a good single-target chain, which in a team setting is likely less important? Tho with Sonic's -res maybe I need to put more emphasis on that? Likewise with the AoEs; currently sitting on 2 but I've seen posters talk about chaining all 3 cones to good effect. I just don't know where to find spots and slots if I do end up adding one or both. Defenses. Are they good enough? Always the concern. Dunno how they stack up (or should stack up) so advice there is appreciated. Should I be leaning on some kind of theoretical "minimum expected buff from teammates" in my evaluation? Can Hasten be improved? Getting the last ~20s of recharge down would be spicy, but I don't see it. Maneuvers/Tactics have a bunch of set bonii that I don't think could be reclaimed if they get swapped out for attacks. And I'm not sure where I can find more +rech without sacrifices elsewhere. But again, in a team setting, maybe that's less relevant? Incarnates. I got nothing. No idea what is valuable for high-end post-50 content. What else don't I know I don't know? Build is hiding below: Thanks in advance!

  12. I like Vigor Radial on my Dark Armour guys. End redux for the toggles and Dark Regen, heal buff to free up slotting on Dark Regen, accuracy and fear for Cloak of Fear. Fixes a lot of weird set-specific problems. And I'll second Intuition for Ice Melee.
  13. Been on a huge bovine hero kick lately. This one's been getting a lot of in-game compliments. Meet Mootant, an Ice/Thermal cow-ruptor! New to the herd is Cattleclysm, a Fire/MA blaster! And a refreshed look for one of my first bulls: the new and improved BEEF CANNON (Nrg/Time blaster).
  14. I thought of that, but wasn't sure if the game would handle nested quotes. In hindsight that would have been easier to try before I went and change the path names... Nice to see that does work!
  15. Did a little more playing around (thanks for the prompt @biostem ) and seem to have resolved the issue. If I had to guess, I would think it had to do with either the emote piece, or the spaces in the file path conflicting somehow with the need for "" around the whole bind instead of just the file path itself. I renamed the folders to take out the spaces, dropped the emote piece, and ended up with this, which does exactly what I want it to: 6 "cc 0$$pow_exec_slot 6$$bindloadfilesilent D:\Gaming\COH\Binds\costume1.txt"
  16. That'd be cool. Like I said, they did work at one point, with the only differences being changing the key in question (from 1 to 6). And I have no clue why this time around it's making my 6 key inoperative.
  17. I have waited the 15 seconds. The power in slot 6 is Rejuvenating Circuit. And I don't know why the emote part is in there - these were old binds that worked a year or so ago, and I don't remember / can't find where I got them from.
  18. Not sure if I'm working with outdated source files, but... I had an old character set up with a number of rolling costume change binds, triggered on a keypress. Today I created a new character and want to do the same thing, so I dusted off the old text files and gave it a shot. The result was my costume changing when I loaded the initial file, and then the specified key no longer working. /e sadface. I'm wondering if there are bind pros out there who could take a look and advise on what might be going wrong with this? I know they worked on the old character, and the only change I have made is which key triggers the costume change & loads the next bind. And I have double checked the file path is accurate. To start I loaded the first file up: /bindloadfilesilent "D:\Gaming\City of Heroes\Binds and Macros\costume0.txt" As mentioned, this had the immediate effect of changing my costume (I was in the first slot costume and it changed to the second slot). So that's a little weird right off the hop. The remaining files are costume1.txt through costume5.txt. All of the files including costume0.txt look like identical to this, save for incrementing the next text file # and eventually circling back to load costume0.txt : 6 emote none$$cc 0$$pow_exec_slot 6$$bindloadfilesilent "D:\Gaming\City of Heroes\Binds and Macros\costume1.txt" What I expected to happen is that I press 6, the power fires, and my guy changes to the next costume in sequence. Instead I got a costume change on bind load, and an inoperative 6 key. Thanks in advance for any help in figuring this out!
  19. My go-to is EAff/*. Especially for the lower-level TFs. EAff plugs so many holes in incomplete builds. My current is EAff/Rad, because +hit from the primary and -def from the secondary is a lovely combination. I really should make another one & go with something different in the secondary this time.
  20. Thanks Doom, appreciate the look. I'll have a peek at power order and see what I can shuffle to push Hasten and the leadership buffs. Possibly swap with Fighting pool picks - those might be lower value for a teaming toon?
  21. Moo! I don't build squishies often, but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and work on some more support-oriented guys. Hence this bovine hero. Thus far up to L34 I've been enjoying the ride, and I think I have a decent post-50 build specced out. But I'm always happy to get input from those more experienced, so here we are. Goals and Questions: - Some form of defense softcap. I'm a smidge shy of S/L and over on Energy, which incidentally puts me half a small purple away from Ranged. Especially in light of the defense typing changes -- which though few and far between (as I understand it) do take some value away from S/L defense and add more to Ranged -- are there things I should be doing to improve my numbers? - Due to the defense focus, my resists are pretty dismal. Kinda tying into the question from above, would I gain more value from a resist epic shield? Given that I intend to mostly team with him, I suspect the answer is yes? (I'm used to building for maximum self-sufficiency, so I have no idea what to take into account for on a teaming toon.) - 3 ST attacks and 2 rains. Is that good enough, or should I be pushing to either find another attack OR up my recharge to cycle through faster? Advice on these and any other thoughts that I'm sure I've missed is greatly appreciated! Bonus selfie!
  22. Continues to happen. Was on the arc last night, with the leader (not me) as L35, mission set to -1/x3, and the Super Arachnoid was still 40.
  23. Wasn't expecting to get the name Gun Fire, but here we are. Went far afield from my usual on this DP/Fire Sentinel, and decided to go all in on some alien looks. (For the record, the little shoulder dude is the actual hero: the bodies are just hosts.)
