  1. I really like the Well of the Furies/Incarnates in concept. I know a lot of people have RP problems with it in terms of character agency, "fit", it being a barrier to endgame content and so on, and those are totally valid, but I'm a sucker for the idea of real-world deities and mythological figures empowering characters. It makes me think of DC's Captain Marvel/Shazam, and I've loved that character since I was a kid, so... In my personal headcanon, things like the Well and any other ways of becoming an incarnate (e.g. whatever specific thing gave Hero 1 his powers) all spring from the same source, and it contains the potential power of all pantheons and legends, major and minor. Doesn't solve any of the problems, but thinking I could have a Goddess of Things That Get Stuck in Drawers-empowered Incarnate makes me feel better!
  2. There was an MSR on Everlasting at the weekend that had people quoting this movie for most of the time spent taking down the pylons. Needless to say, it was a good raid. "It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether!" "It's an entirely different kind of flying."
  3. I've never really played them before - I was always either a Scrapper or a Blaster guy - but I made one or two since the changes since I saw people raving about how good they were now. They were fun character concepts but I haven't really touched them after the initial few levels; I'm actually getting more mileage out of Brutes now. Can't let go of doing damage, I guess...
  4. It affects my characters in certain ways. Travel powers are the big ones - flight powers are incredibly useful, but if my character isn't able to fly in the backstory I have for them, then I'm not picking them. They'll do Posi 2 and get a jetpack like all the rest of the groundlubbers! The other day out of boredom I created a new Praetorian character (I'd only gone through Going Rogue once previously) and they're a Natural origin who is just an expert swordfighter, they don't have any other powers or amazing technology, so they've got Ninja Run and that's stretching it already. I almost never pick up any of the other prestige powers like Sands of Mu, either. Again, they pretty much never fit the character I'm going for. My actual slots and enhancements are all completely suboptimal as well, but that's because I never go in for specific builds because I'm lazy.
  5. I've seen both of these more times than I can count. I definitely couldn't leave the first on in the background, though: I'd just end up watching it!
  6. In my head, I go for the Franklin Richards explanation: somewhere in the world there is an extremely powerful reality-warping child, and they're letting time continue on whilst keeping everyone the same age. Or something.
  7. Sadly, only available in the US. Yeah, I was subscribed for a good while to Marvel Unlimited, really good service. I've gone through a bunch of long runs on there, Tomb of Dracula, the original Exiles, Gruenwald Cap....there's so much good stuff on it! I can take or leave the JLA as a group, but the JSA are where it's at.
  8. I have to assume that there's at least a couple of die-hard City of Heroes/Villains fans who are also into comics, superhero ones or otherwise. Anyone reading anything right now? Are you keeping up with current stuff or going back to the old reliables? What are some of your favourites? I haven't been able to keep up with a lot of current stuff lately as money's tight and comics are, to be honest, a very expensive hobby, but I did buy the J.M. DeMatteis run of Dr. Fate years back and so I'm going through that again. At some point I also want to do another reread (I'm not sure what number this would be) of all of Astro City, which is a series I associate with CoX a lot, and I'm guessing I'm not the only fan of it here.
  9. I haven't been playing that much outside of CoX lately, but when I'm not on HC I'm either practising Virtua Fighter 5FS (play VF it's a good game) or trying in vain to better myself at Taiko no Tatsujin on PS4. At some point I should really get round to my massive backlog.
  10. Au contraire.
  11. I went on a mission to watch all (live-action!) Trek shows starting about three or so years ago. I started at TNG since that was the first one that popped up on Netflix, though I skipped Season 1 as I'd already tried to watch it years prior and just couldn't manage it. I think the middle seasons contain probably some of the best episodic television I've ever seen. Later seasons don't quite reach that zenith again, but I still thought they were good. DS9 is the one I'd pick as my favourite if I was forced to. TNG had the highest highs, but DS9 to me was the most consistently good. Also, it had *two* great double acts in Quark & Odo/O'Brien & Bashir - how can any other series compete? Voyager....yeah. Not great. There were some good parts - The Doctor and 7of9 were great together and their episodes were always a solid watch - but I wasn't that big on Janeway, who seemed to always be switching between a regulation stickler, a maverick, compassionate and vaguely murderous. Also I was pretty disappointed about how the draw of her character was how she reacts to this completely unique situation and what decisions she'll make that may not fall in line with Starfleet ideals, but the series ends as soon as they reach Earth and we don't get to see any kind of dialogue with Starfleet Command over the actions she's taken. Obviously the point of the show is "they're trying to get home" and it's not about what will happen afterwards, but still, some kind of epilogue would have been nice. Neelix sucks. Also man, people sure aren't fazed at all by anything that happens to Kim, huh? I didn't hate Enterprise. In fact, I quite liked a lot of it. Archer was whatever, pretty middle of the road captain, but I thought the crew in general was pretty decent. Disappointing that Sato and Mayweather don't really get developed that much, Mayweather moreso, when compared to the trinity of Archer, T'Pol and Tucker. It does have Jeffrey Combs as a recurring character again, though, so that's cool! Shame about that truly abysmal last episode. Finished up with TOS towards the end of last year. Thought it was hit or miss; when it's really good, it's really good ("Balance of Terror" was the episode that fully convinced me in S1) and when it's bad, it's really bad (here's to another terrible final episode). Again, I was surprised at how little fleshing out characters like Uhura and Sulu get given how iconic the TOS crew are. In Sulu's case I guess part of that is George Takei not being around for a lot of the show, but even when he is he's not exactly given much to do. In amongst all this I watched the first season of Discovery up until the mid-season break, and didn't continue. I was already plugging away at Voyager at this point and decided I could only handle one Star Trek show I wasn't getting much out of. I might check out Picard, but only after a loooong break from the franchise. The third Abramverse entry is a pretty great Fast & Furious movie.
  12. Maybe I'm not considering all the angles, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the slash command for PvE. People being able to instantly zip out of trouble in PvP sucks, sure. If there's anything that can be done, I'd like to see it somehow disabled during PvP but not elsewhere. People can abuse it (and do) in PvE as well, but eh. People can do whatever they want against the AI as far as I'm concerned.
  13. Maybe one day. If I'm part of a team doing radios or whatever and people are running in-character, I'll throw out a line here or there, so I'm not opposed to it, but I don't think I'm quite ready to be joining in RP events or anything yet. Thanks for the link anyhow!
  14. I'm not really a roleplayer (much too shy!) but I mainly play on Everlasting and it's been really cool seeing so many people around me get right into it. Really great that such a big social aspect of the game is alive and well.
