It's worth noting that, on Homecoming, you can refuse certain insp. drops at the Pay 2 Win vendors if you like, doing this reduces your over all number of inspirations received, but it can be a very valuable thing if you plan to combine inspirations to one or two types you need. For example, my spines/fire brute really only ever needs reds and purples. I could deny everything but those, instead though I deny Break Frees and Awakens (and their subsequent tiers), and convert the remaining types in to reds or purples as needed. This allows me to almost always be sure I have enough insp. to combine, and have more streamlined commands to do said combinations (once I get my lazy arse around to remaking commands to do it).

The P2W vendor will revoke the origin based attack power, if you ask her to.
-
Sets alone, which is unfortunate IMO
-
Those do not exist unfortunately. :( Granted, if you're not looking for high demand sets, you can find attuned for a lot of the IO types from low demand sets for reasonable prices.
-
I've been pretty lucky avoiding that with my Rads, and my defender is super active with her attacks while my controller focuses on control, not support.

Is having more then one KB IO protection overkill?
Zolgar replied to hoodedKitsune's topic in General Discussion
Some of the PVP sets also include KB protection. I like to 4-slot Fury of the Gladiator at least once on /fire brutes for the extra +3. Typically I'll aim for 10 or 11 mag kb protection on my brutes if they don't get it inherently. On a squishy? 4 is usually plenty. -
I assure you, everyone on an RP server has seen a worse mistell. We don't judge. Well we do judge, usually on a scale of 1-10 for how juicy to mistell is. :) Oh, I wasn't worried about the MT, I would have been worried about having to RP it off... ;) It was kinda harmless in the grand scale of things.. I said "That's cause I like to play nekkid!" (I happen to have a character that looks like he's not wearing pants which someone in the SG chat had said something about.) I would give it a 5 for potential, probably being generous though. ;)

Build for mindless gameplay - Spines/Fire Brute?
Zolgar replied to Mashugana's topic in General Discussion
As someone who plays a Spines/Fire brute outside of farms: Spines/Fire is absolutely not mindless gameplay. You are not much more durable than a blaster to anything except fire damage, one false move and you go kersplut. You have to keep on top of using Healing Flames, but make sure you don't use it TOO soon because you want to get the most benefit out of it, your end bar likes to drain, and fast, so you need to make sure to use Consume. Your entire ability to survive hinges on the ability to kill them faster than they kill you, which requires timing your use of Fiery Embrace + Build Up to coincide with several good attacks being ready to go... Don't get me wrong, it's not as focus intensive as some other builds, but it's still active and you have to pay attention to your green and blue bars. If you want mindless melee, /stone brute after 32. Nothing short of psi damage is an actual threat to you.. Spines/stone or Rad/stone you can just walk in to a mob and walk away from the keys for 5 minutes and come back to a dead mob. -
Yes, the pool with the single most used power in the game needs help. I actually respecced out of Hasten because I can get the same thing with a couple of recharge reducers. Hasten is vastly overrated. Or did you mean Flurry? ;-) Permahasten is worth approximately 1.5 level 50+5 recharge IOs in EVERY SINGLE POWER, while ignoring enhancement diversification. Permahasten opens up/makes it infinitely easier to perma powers like: Domination, Phantom Army, Accelerate Metabolism, etc. It also makes it much easier to perma double stack powers like Rage and Clicky mez resist (like you find in Shield and Super Reflexes) You may not be a fan of it, and that is fine, but Hasten is one of the most universally useful powers in the game, and will have a positive benefit on literally any character that takes it. Now, regarding the OP: Burnout if an interesting power, it's very much an "ohshit" button. In most content you'll never use it.. but being able to double-cast Gang War, or get your Godmode T9 back RIGHT NOW can be a major game changer. That said, I only take it for concept. I find it's too situational to warrant a slot otherwise.

All chaps are bumless, it's an inherent part of the nature of chaps. Sorry, pet peeve. You may carry on with the regular discussion

I am what I like to call a "powergaming roleplayer" or a "roleplaying powergamer" I build for concept. Every character I make has a concept, has an identity, has a reason to exist in the world with the powers they have. From there, I make the build the most powerful I possibly can. I may take power choices that are suboptimal. I take travel powers if they're needed for concept (in this day an age, outside of Stone tankers with Teleport, travel powers are purely optional and provide minimal actual benefit), I take stealth on brutes, I take more of the fighting pool than just 1 anchor power and tough/weave... and then? Then I minmax the ever living shit out of it. >.> If I were on such a team and a RPer tried to lecture me about not waiting and "respecting their character concept" (especially after WALKING to the door) I'd be like "Your character concept is getting people killed, evil isn't going to wait for you to casually stroll across the city." I may not take travel powers often, but I make damn good use of Ninja/Beast Run, Sprint, and the Jump Jet, and can beat most travel powers to doors. In character, sure maybe my character can't run 55mph and leap clear over short buildings... but they're a superhero, they have to have some means of traveling quickly. Call it a motorcycle, call it getting an Uber, call it an air drop.

Spaceballs on BlueRay has the special feature "Watch the film at Ludicrous Speed", the entire movie takes about 60 seconds. >.>

Not this argument again, please. It's 2019, they are welcome on any server, but some have various reasons why they are less comfortable being 'out' in a general public space, and would be more comfortable in an environment that was specifically tagged as friendly towards who they are. It has nothing to do with them not being welcome other places, or being 'segregated'.

Using the lore certainly went wrong in this little story of yours, but it didn't go wrong where you think it did. It went wrong with you. You basically told someone their RP was wrong, and told them how they needed to change their character for their RP to be "right". They don't know you, they presumably didn't ask for your input on their character's origin. They likely have a solid idea of who, what and why their character is, so being told by some rando that it's wrong and should be done another way is not going to be well received. You weaponized your lore knowledge against this person, though perhaps not intentionally, and when they didn't live up to the standards you held them to, decided you couldn't RP with them.

I don't know if it's my biggest. It's certainly my most memorable and amusing though. Slotting Avalanche in Burn. Chance for knockdown, or 0.67 mag knockback, in something that ticks as fast as Burn.. Fun fact, KB mag can and does stack. Enemies get flung out of Burn right and left, it's great but terrible.

For Run, yes. For Fly, no. If you slot Fly speed in Swift, it also increases your Hover speed, which is useful in combat.

I just performed a small test with Hybrid Assault Radial to check this- I created a level 50 scrapper on Justin. I ran to PI unslotted, found a 43 Fake Nemesis, attacked it with Hybrid Assault Radial on: (Using the Broadsword T1, for the record) 199.75 damage from the hit 124.33 damage from the double hit. I then ran over to Ghost Falcon and bought 3 damage SOs for the power. 372.26 from the hit. 124.33 from the double hit. The double hit is based purely off the naked power and does not care for what is slotted in it. If someone wanted to perform the same test with a tank, I would be interested in seeing the damage comparison. I know for a fact that Core just provides a boost to your global damage increase stat, as I used to run Core all the time. I also know for a fact that enhancers are factored in to calculations no different from global boosts. A scrapper, for example, cannot have more than +400% damage from any/all sources. If you want to see this in action for certain, do the Incarnate intro mission where you're given the godmode powers, enter it unslotted and attack something, then put damage SOs in that power and attack it again, the damage will be the same.
-
I could be mistaken, but I believe that your Hybrid does not boost your pets- aside from the Support Hybrid which is an AoE buff while it's toggled on, one path of which actually provides a greater buff to pets.

I'm just a lazy bum and don't use macros or keybinds aside from odd ones here and there for specific characters.

Best use the different kinds of merits and other rare salvage
Zolgar replied to Papaschtroumpf's topic in General Discussion
The best use of merits is to buy converters and use those converters to turn low demand/low cost enhancers in to higher demand ones. Selling converters usually nets you about 300k per merit spent. Converter roulette will usually average 500-1500k per merit spent. I have never had 10 merits worth of converters bring me less than 5mil profit. -
How do you give back/pay it forward?
Zolgar replied to Robotech_Master's topic in General Discussion
"Give back" and "pay it forward" implies that 1) you were helped in similar fashion along the way and 2) you do it because of that. I went ground up from nothing, without help on this server. By that logic, I should keep entirely to myself. I help people because it's who I am. I don't publicly PL anymore, because back in the day I had too many people take PLs as an entitlement (it would get quite vexing having "friends" who only talked to me when they were obviously looking for a PL). I do though randomly gift people with influence or valuable enhancers. I'll pretty much always help people finish missions if they need it. When I run a team, I will bring anyone along for the ride. I don't care if it's a level 1 looking for fast XP (though I don't tolerate door sitters unless they specifically ask to join just to lurk at the door). -
Task Force starting requirements same as on Live?
Zolgar replied to GamerKate's topic in General Discussion
This is a SCoRE change, most likely implemented when there was just a secret server with a few hundred people on it, and it could be hard to find enough people to fill a TF. I am glad the change was kept though, because people want to solo/duo TFs and they would find ways to do it anyways so we may as well just give them the option. :) -
Can y’all stop freaking out when people don’t respond to your tells?
Zolgar replied to beloved's topic in General Discussion
Now, when you're forming a TF it is polite to inform those who ask after a spot that you've filled. I try to do it myself, and appreciate it when others offer the same courtesy to me. That said, I'm not going to attack or berate someone for not doing it.
