I hate to ask Newb questions, cause I have a few yrs in this game, but what is the benefit of the xp you earn after lvl 50? And is it something that can be turned off so that I earn influence only?

I think you can turn it off, but if you don't you gain "veteran levels" Each of those will give you a set number of incarnate loot drops empyrean merits every three levels and threads on all the others. That does not go on forever, but for quite a while.  I think for maybe 100+? Generally you don't want to turn off XP until you have all your incarnate powers slotted with T3 powers.

I think the vet levels go to 999, some people have mentioned getting to 300+.

On the badge forum I saw a screenie of someone with over 1000 vet levels, but I think @quixoteprog meant the incarnate drops stop somewhere around 99 or 100.

Also, vet levels do get badges, but again, they stop at some point while vet levels keep going on.

You can turn off xp but in order to get more influence instead you need to be exemplared down (even just to 49) and have xp turned on but choose 'double influence when exemplared' in the option below where you turn xp on or off.

Good luck!

Yes, I know vet levels keep going, just not the incarnate rewards. It is my understanding that they diminish and then peter out around 100-120. Sorry for not being more clear in that.

Disabling xp at 50 actually does increase inf gain. It's less than the double bonus you get from exemplar though which is why people farm at lvl 49.

I can second the statement that it's typically better to leave xp on to gain emp merits for your incarnate stuff. Getting T4 incarnates will take longer than affording enhancements unless you've got an absurdly expensive build and/or emp merit donors.

Typically, by the time you hit 50, you are pretty flush with cash anyway.  You can burn a bunch on a spiffy I/O build, but even then, it builds back up again fast between regular accumulation, and the sale of drops that you don't really need.  So, I typically leave XP on, and use the Vet levels to accomplish a lot of my Incarnate builds.  20 Empyrian merits every three Vet levels (for the first couple of dozen) is pretty handy.  They drop off slowly, but surely after that, but you still get them until Vet Level 99.  You can pretty much slot out all of your Incarnate slots multiple times with that stuff.

What was no more, is REBORN!

3-6 vet levels and 3 days of DA flashbacks = t4 in all incarn powers, no problem

99 rewards stopped

I'm Vet-level 543. Any actual knowledge on if there's a vet level cap? I was going to stop at Level 606 (for various reasons), but if it can go to 1006...hehe well maybe I'll shoot for that

It's only gotten worse since that post.

I'm assuming the variable rolls over after 32767.  The number of available respecs I had rolled over to negative after 127 and a GM had to fix it, so vet levels probably do too.

That needs to be changed to an unsigned int. There's no need for your number of available respecs to ever be negative, and if it were changed to unsigned, the worst that would happen is a rollover from 255 to 0, which would still suck, but wouldn't break anything.

Oh wise one, tell me thy secrets. I'm only getting 3 vet lvls per hour doing clear alls of DA repeatables at +4/x8 when I'm really working at it. How have you managed this?

EDIT: Actually, having now read your signature, I get it. 🙂
