seebs
So basically, for thematic reasons, I'm pretty solidly stuck with storm/elec. Unfortunately, that means I'm playing /elec, and... Uhm. How do I get much out of this? End drain on enemies appears to be nearly always useless unless there's more of it around I can stack with, so basically I have a weak hold and some mediocre damage and, uhm. Is there anything I can usefully do with this set other than slot the heck out of Voltaic Sentinel and hope it can kill things for me while I use my debuff/control abilities to keep people alive and enemies... well, less alive, eventually. Or am I missing something and /elec has secret amazing traits I don't know about? One person suggested extra slots for everything and the endmod set Chance For Stun proc, which I guess could eventually stack up on some targets. I don't believe the stun proc will stack, so you will never be able to stun bosses with that proc alone. Electric blast is very lackluster in general due to how energy drain and more specifically power usage works for mobs. I really think the original devs didn't understand how that worked when they designed the set. My only suggestion is to lean heavily into your storm powers instead. Storm will far outdamage your blast powers anyway. I guess the only other thing is to consider other blast sets that might work with your theme. Both water and ice are very storm themed or is this a case where the character can only control electron energy levels?
seebs
Was struck by lightning multiple times, lost legs, was drunk and crying and a friend said "hey maybe it just wants to be friends" and that turned out to be it, so... sorta has to be elec for the character to make sense. Anyway, already levelled, not in a huge hurry to level another storm defender. (That said, if I do have to, I'm ready; I can do water, and rename from Farrah DeCage to Farrah Faucet.) I've actually seen some enemies run out of blue and not do stuff, but not often. Has to be a lot happening for that, but if I've got lightning storm AND voltaic sentinel up AND I hit them a bunch, sometimes. Maybe we'll get lucky and the powers devs will revisit elec and give it something cool, like more "give user some end back" things, or some kind of other disruptive effect. Or just make end drain actually effective somehow on mobs, given how good it is on players.
Linea
The following worked well for me, and is capable of soloing a +4x8 ITF. Armored D.A.B. Build. (Optionally uses Dampeners, Amps, and Base Buffs for extremely high performance . This is not required for more normal performance levels.) Offensive Rating 80: 347 (107%) ST DPS vs Pylons, 15 (67%) AoE MPL in a Fire Farm, (as compared to my Fire/Atomic Blaster) Standard Rune/Hybrid Core T4/Rune/Demonic Kitchen Sink for resists and status protection. (500s up, 30s gap. The gap is of minimal impact once you factor in moving between mobs and using the clicks more efficiently. In practice I pause for recharge reasons less than once per week.) P2W:Kinetic Dampener to seal up SL defenses for tanking or soloing. Add optional Base Buffs and/or Amps ... P2W:Stun Grenades stack with Thunderclap, Tornado, and OG to stun most of a spawn PBAoE, Stun bosses, for both defense and to slow things from running away. (The stuns are very useful, particularly early on.) You can also stack holds. StratoNexus
Elec Blast end drain on defenders is actually pretty potent, although it works fastest if you can combine it with an Epic that helps. Power Sink, from Electric or Mu Mastery is one option (and considering Storm can be an end hog, is also helpful to recover endurance from a series of pet summoning). Power Build Up and Power Boost from Power or Soul is the other option. I usually slot Short Circuit mixed between a damage set and an End Mod set. Short Circuit is the key, because not only is it the big end drainer in a very large AoE, but it also floors enemy recovery. Ball Lightning can be slotted similarly. for additional support in keeping whole spawns sapped. Musculature is an obvious Alpha, although Agility is also very good. Since snipes were buffed, Electric's single target output is not as bad as people think; and while Voltaic Sentinel is not great in big team spawn to spawn fighting, he does good damage vs single hard targets and helps when playing solo and small teams. This. You need to floor recovery and end because as soon as the mobs get to 1 endurance they will attack you. If you can keep both floored then it becomes very good defensively. At least this is how I understand it works, I'd love to be corrected if I'm wrong.
Wavicle
Power Sink, Short Circuit, Lightning Storm. These are your best end drainers. You don't Have to build to do that, but those are the tools available if you want to. nihilii
Rumors of /elec sucking are greatly exaggerated. Well, after level 40+ anyway. This is the era of fast snipes, crashless nukes, procs, and Short Circuit got a DoT speed buff in Homecoming too. So: - Short Circuit + Ball Lightning take care of your AoE needs - Thunderous Blast adds some burst AoE every now and then (and if you want end drain, does it provide!) - Zapp gives you extra ST punch (and you don't need that much extra, because you've got Tornado and Lightning Storm providing for you) - optionally, a damage procced out Tesla Cage could round up your mid-level ST damage, if you feel the need for it. You could also grab Dominate at level
Doomguide2005
Never got to build and try out an Emp/Elec I had planned out in Mids. But was going to try Tempest proc (chance for -End) in her single target blasts. Not sure how well that would work with the proc changes (heck wasn't sure how it well it would work back on live, I19) or whether it would be better to drop an EndMod IO in the 6th slot. The other 5 slots being Decimation and Apocalypse respectively. Short Circuit was 3 Armageddon and three Efficacy Adaptor which pretty much maxes both the end drain and damage. And with PBU would drain over 100 end while recovery was at -200%+ recharging about 7 seconds later to fire off again (both under the effects of PBU). But as Hyperstrike pointed out Short Circuit is your workhorse doing both substantial -End and -Recovery, I tend to look at the rest of the blasts almost as if they simply keep the End and Drain from SC intact till SC recharges to do it all over. Currently have a Emp/Elec on HC and will undoubtedly build something close to this build. Here's the old build. Make of it what you will in terms of the /Elec EmpElec (v1.00.i19 MusculatureRadialParagon).mxd Edited January 17, 2020 by Doomguide2005
oedipus_tex
In addition to the stuff mentioned above (especially about Power Sink), you should take an Alpha slot with Endurance Modification. Once every power is dealing 45-33% more endurance drain your sapping abilities go way up. It also helps if you go Mu Pool to get the pet. Having a second creature blasting enemies with lightning does a lot to keep their blue bars empty. Turn on the setting where you can see enemy health / endurance bars at all times. Communistpenguin
If you put a lockdown chance for +2 mag in tesla cage it goes from a lt hold to a boss hold like 90% of the time. With set bonuses and whatnot, you can do just fine as a storm/elec. You just have to remember that alot of your damage comes from your primary and from synergy with your powers. Between tornado(with the kb to kd io) lightning storm, voltaic sentinel and freezing rain, you do a ton of damage, then use your blasts to mob up. depending on the mob types I like to hover above, then open wiht Lighting storm --> Freezing Rain --> Tornado --> VS --> then blast whatever remains. VS and tornado last awhile and follow you so you dont always have to summon them. Short circuit, thunderous blast and ball lighting are for tougher opponents that stun and I cant hold. Basically drain them while your pets whittle them down.
