Savage/Stone Armor?

Never played Savage Melee, but already have several WP, EA, Bio characters (not all brutes)

I haven't played Stone Armor since Live where I remember it being good, but I happened to be one the people that liked the TP travel power (it was all pre-IOs). Back them Soene armor toons would kill ot get a kin on their team. I think it's not longer as true?

To be honest at this point the main reason I picked the combo is because I thought Savage Leap would complement/mitigate Granite's movement penalty.

There are probably sets than can be used to help with movement speed

So anyway, anyone running it? Anyone thinking it's a poor combo?

If it's not a good idea, I may go Savage/Dark Armor as I don;t have a DA toon on Homecoming yet (but I was thinking about a D3 scrapper)

I think its likely a good pairing. Savage's blood frenzy stacks give +rech and -end cost, which are two problems Granite imposes, and Granite provides top end mitigation, which Savage lacks completely. Savage doesn't make up for the -damage, but otherwise they look like they complement each other quite well. Let us know how it goes.

Savage DOES tend to mitigate stone's Damage issues somewhat, due to the set's speed and leap helping to keep you closer to brute cap in between spawns. It is also able to make a complete aoe attack chain with no gaps in granite if you grab mu ball/cages, which few sets other than claws can boast.

And, like he said, blood frenzy does make a pretty big difference with end and recharge.

At full 80% fury, the difference between granite and non-granite attacks is only 10% (as opposed to at base, which is 25%) and the closer you stay to damage cap as a brute, the smaller that fraction becomes.

Granite Animation Fun!

I have Stone/Spines Tank, and Ripper’s backflip is very fun to watch.

I think your Savage/Stone build sounds like fun, also consider Rad or Spines for the extra damage aura, which cranks up nicely with Fury.

Skip Hemorrhage, its a very slow DoT attack.  Kind of like gloom.

Side note on this: Gloom's damage is DoT but it's also usually vastly better DPA damage than most brutes/tank attacks. This becomes relevant when you're pounding on hard targets like AVs and Pylons. Example: My shield/nrg tank uses ET(slow)-TF-ET(fast)-Gloom-BS as her attack chain because gloom is better DPA than any of the other nrg attacks. And now I'm rambling because I know other folks are getting better DPS adding more attacks but proc-monstering everything they use.

Agree, but for a melee attack working the same way its not very great.  Since the dot damage takes so long to apply, it's inefficient on anything not a boss.   With enough recharge, the dot stacks but if you EXHAUST! one time you are on cool down for like 6 seconds where the damage is still barely finished.  And fast enough recharge means I can just hammer the first 3 attacks and Hit rending flurry at 4 Bloodfiry to keep up an attack chain while clearing minions around.  Get the recharge bonus consistently going, clicks like Firery Embrace or Bio clicks come back a little faster.
