Can a proc happen on a passive power like Stamina?  I'm guessing not but it's better to ask.

Try slotting one in Mids'.  It's mostly accurate in what can or can't be slotted in various powers, and you're not likely to encounter the inaccuracies yet (things like mastermind ATOs indicating that they can be slotted in powers where they can't actually be slotted, and missing enhancement options for some sentinel powers).  If something works in Mids', it's almost always going to work in the game.

Note that Mids' doesn't always show the effects, though.  Slotting the Performance Shifter unique IO into Stamina doesn't display any change to recovery rate, for instance.  The software wasn't designed to account for that.  There's a Radiation Armor or Bio Armor power that increases Regen and Recovery on different conditions, that isn't reflected in Mids' because the conditional argument doesn't exist in the software.  Stuff like that, you have to rely on in-game numbers (Powers -> Combat Attributes (it's at the top of the Powers window, left side)) or in-game testing and observation.

But for set bonuses, proc calculations and everything else, Mids' tells you everything you need to know to build a character before actually building the character.  Just be careful... it's addictive.  Go too deep into the rabbit hole and you'll find yourself with five thousand build plans and not enough costume parts to go around, and then you'll really be suffering.

omething to address

  • Hover can slot the defense 7.5% global recharge in Luck of the Gambler
  • Combat Jumping can slot the 7.5% global recharge in Luck of the Gambler
  • Their defense stack
  • Their ability to function besides the defense negates each other
    • CJ provides no +jump while you hover, you are in the air
    • Hover you can't even use on the ground, you are an inch above it.
    • Combat Jump is also disabled by Ninja or Beast Run, they are mini-travel powers.  Exclusive to CJ, just mentioning it.

Combat Jumping does improve Fly, though, by removing the friction that makes your character slow to start or stop.  With CJ running while Fly is active, you can stop on a dime and give nine cents change.

With Hover, there's no other tangible benefit beyond the stacked +Def and slotting options, but the endurance cost is itsy bitsy, so if it fits in a build, there's no reason not to run it.

@Outrider_01 That's more maths than my brain can brain 🙂  (Seriously it's not that complicated but I'll have to take it bit by bit)

As for my shiny new spec: I'm... not impressed.  With generic IOs that were never refreshed as I levelled. I could do x8+1 eyes closed and x8+2 with some caution.

With this full spec, I can do x8+3 but I find myself inspiration-dependant a lot and things take forever to die...  Then again since I brought a friend to level him, the bosses were elite bosses.

Anyways.  About 160 Million and I'm not sure I did it right.

Without seeing your build it's hard to give pointers. Something else to bear in mind though is that most people that farm at +4*8 have the incarnate level shift, so things are really only +3 to them, also they have the extra damage that incarnate powers bring to the table. It's not just about the build directly, it's a combination of that and incarnate abilities. And isnp combining helps somewhat as well, of you aren't doing that already.

Did the same, once you hit 46 you got to drop from +3 with inspiration to +2.  The NPC start to scale up towards 50 or higher so it takes a bit longer to kill.

Once you are full spec, it flies.  If your friend was debuff it would go faster, anything with -to hit or -resist will take the NPC down a notch.

Farm brute?  If any thing but your normal spines, or rad melee and fire I could come up with something for you to look at.  Won't be home for 12 hours but got nothing to do at work but shove shit in boxes, need something to keep my brain occupied from going crazy out of boredom

Also have you found Enhancement Unslotters? You can remove enhancements with them and either reuse them or sell them.

Yes I have those.  And if it's too massive, respecs ate cheap, like 1.5 Mil or so.

I'm going to post my build here. It's the first time I do something like this so expect newbie mistakes by the TRUCKLOAD.

Also: I just realized I forgot to use one of my two ATO lines 😞  (But hey, that's 60 millions cheaper, right?  Right?  ... 😞  )

Here be my build. Or should I post the whole long post here?

The big one... Excelsior?  You know. That name I click EVERY FLIPPIN DAY and I never bothered to memorize?

On and thought experiment. I tried a few minutes of the same fire farm at +1, +2 and +3.  Here are the rewards.

image.png.235b7f69ef0284e93b1634aed39c3ab5.png

At +1, everything melts like butter on my CPU, no threat to my character whatsoever.

At +2, things die relatively fast. Boss take a few extra hits. My HP remained capped most of the time, my End didn't need much love.

At +3, things die slow and bosses take forever: this build is not single target happy.  I had to watch my health constantly.

I think that for now, +2 is the sweet spot.  It may be approx 60% the rewards of +3, but things fall MUCH MUCH faster.

First question, is this going to be purely a farmer, or are you planning to do other things with it? If it is primarily a fire farmer you are looking to boost your fire def a bit more than it currently is. The first thing I'd do is drop 2 of the unbreakable guards from tough and put in the steadfast protection res/def and the PVP gladiator's armor tp/def, those 2 will boost your fire def (well all your defs actually) by another 6%. Another tip is you can drop a slot from fiery embrace and +5 the 2 remaining recharge IOs. 2 +5 level 50s will be around 95% (I can't remember the exact figure off the top of my head) meaning you can add another slot eleswhere.

I do have a staff alt, but admittedly it's been quite a while since I played it, however your slotting of guarded spin seems... odd to me. Bearing in mind it's been a while, I am not certain about this, but doesn't it need to hit to give the defence bonus? No slotted accuracy in it doesn't seem a great idea. Maybe look at a winters set for it that gives more fire defence? Also using another set of Aegis in fire shield will net you a bit more fire def than using imperviums.

I know you want to play around with the build yourself, so I won't build one for you, these are just some general pointers.

Very interesting!  Now that you mention it, putting a full LotG in my attack was... dumb.  I'll sell the set and put the second ATO I forgot to get.

Yes, this guy will purely farm so he can provide inf to my other less specialised characters.

How do you increase the value of an IO? I thought you couldn't combine those.

If you want to spec me something, go right ahead! Comparing it to what I came up with would be a good learning experience.  Only if you don't mind, though 🙂

I would move the Firery Embrace slot to Consume and add an 4th item of the set with End/Acc to get both these values from 45 to 72 and to get the 10% regen set buff.

You don't do it by combining IOs, although it is done through the same screen, instead you combine the IO with an enhancement booster. You can buy them from the AH, or with merits from a vendor.

It's a bit late here to be putting a build together now, but I get a chance I'll try and have a look at it tomorrow.

Lethal and Fire farm!  Almost perma hasten by .5 second, 89% Lethal and 90% fire with 46% Lethal and 45% Fire defense.  There is a +recharge in proc in eye of the storm to make up the lack of haste, Firey Embrace is slower then I would like to see and I wanted to put a -resist proc in Ball lighting but had to give it up to cap fire resist.  Left out incarnates, mainly a choice but then again everyone always goes for the same.  Took Tactics from Leadership, can swap to assault if you want.

I will be straight up, it would probably be only 70-80% effective compared to a brute farmer but a brute couldn't pull it off with it the smaller defense modifier in weave.  And if this is something you attempt, which I do not endorse unless you want to be different , Guarded spin needs to be the first part of your attack chain to cap that lethal defense...and Its ONLY LETHAL farm, do not attempt a smashing damage; you might have to make an exclusive lethal damage with no -defense but I don't think thats possible.  But if you drag your friend along with a support class, anything would make it excel.

OK, now to be clear, this is not a build I would use myself, I tried to keep the powers as close to what you had as possible, as I figured you like them, so this is what I did with minimal power and slot changes. Softcapped fire defence was the priority (defences across the board have been improved), and then some improved recharge. As a bonus it has capped smash/lethal res now if you wanted to change the farm type to keep things interesting. It does have less regen, but the +heal IOs (panacea and power transfer) should counter that. The major downside is it would be relatively expensivel, with the 2 lots of winter sets in it. I replaced assault with maneuvers, for the extra defence and also the extra recharge. You won't notice the lack of the damage boost, with softcapped fire def you won't need purples or greens, so insp dropss you get can all be combined into reds for extra damage.

Now I'm definitely not advocating you to use this build, I just threw it together in about 5 minutes, but it should give you some ideas as to what you can do.

I just leveled my first 50 character! Thank you for all the awesome help homecoming!!

So what's next? Is there a simple guide to incarnates? (I know that is a very long, detailed one but I would like to start slow and learn)

It's my first time playing with sets EVER! I want to learn on my own as much as possible, I will therefore never ask for a build, but is there a guide or a list of recommendation of what set fits what situation?  In my case, I have a fire/staff tank used mostly for fire farms so I know that I need to look for set bonuses that enhance regen and help me reach defense soft cap since I'm pretty much set with resists. I'm playing around on Mids but there is so much choice, I'm drowning in numbers!!

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Specifically for Fire/Staff I guess Kinetic Combat sets (4 per power plus one random Acc/Dam in slot 5) in single target attacks and 6 Oblits in AoEs in pbaoe like CrazyDiscoSpin are a good starting point after you've slotted your ATOs.

There's some really good Fire/Claws builds in the Tank forum you can download. Just switch the secondary set to staff and work from there. I used one as the basis of a planned new Fire tank, switching any Winters sets for Kinetics or Oblits because I don't slot them (too dear)

Gratz on your 50!

There's a really good page on the wiki which lists all sets and their bonuses.  So you can look at the type of sets a power takes, and then fairly easily see what bonuses are available.

Generally, since I noticed you asking about Enhancement boosters: If you want to exep down with the character, then you're usually better off slotting attuned enhancements, so you'll still get the set bonuses.  If you're always planning to play at 50, then you can look into boosting some of them, instead.  However, pay attention to the ED limits, because there's no point spending a bunch of inf on boosters and then realising that almost all of the benefit was eaten up by ED limits.  Also, boosting can be very good in powers that don't take sets.  For example, using two boosted level 50 Recharge IOs in Hasten rather than three unboosted.

So. Much. Love.

You guys are beyond excellent!  Seriously!!

I'm going to look at those builds and try to understand them.  I might also look into making my tank into something more "general purpose" and then create me a real farming brute.  I really like playing AE farms: they're easy, relax, no nonsense.  I even found a color scheme for a spine/fire that doesn't make me want to scoop my eyes out.  I might try that (the brute, not the scooping) since it's SO popular, I want to see what all the fuss is about.

But for now, Morfaust will remain a fire-farm tank until I decide.
