Why doesn't the granite armor have a crystal or lava version?

Well, I didn't ask my question in the right place, so I put it in the suggestions.

Why in the stone armor, the granite armor can't have the crystal or lava skin ?
It would be nice because you can make a global crystal armor, a global lava armor but the granite armor stays in stone... Why ?

Is this going to happen or do the devs not care?

Bon je n'ai pas dû poser ma question au bon endroit, donc je la repose dans les suggestions.

Pourquoi dans l'armure de pierre, l'armure de granit ne peux pas avoir la skin cristal ou lave ?
Ce serait bien parce qu'on peut faire une armure globale de cristal, une armure globale de lave mais l'armure de granite reste en pierre... Pourquoi ?

Ca va arriver ou les devs s'en fichent ?

I think it's because the model they used for Granite Armor is that of the Devouring Earth rock minions, which don't have alternate crystal or lava textures.

 

However, I think an easy fix for this would be to use the 'Animate Stone' models from Earth Control as customisation options that could be used in it's place.

Possible alternate choices for Granite Armor to add in the future:

 

Devouring Earth crystalline models (Geode, Quartz, Sardonyx, Guardian)
Minions of Igneous (Pumicites, Magmite Lords)
Slag Golems (Slag Heap, Slag Pile, Slag Golem)
Coralax (Coral Warder, Coral Sentinel)

lol to be honest I never paid attention to it, and yet I started playing in 2005.
By dint of seeing things you don't even pay attention anymore...

If I recall right, it's because it's not like a normal power.  The power customization lets you change the effect as it's called on the player.  But the "effect" for Granite is just the little rock particles and the activation animation.  Once those are done the power itself, in the code, pawns off the rest of the effect to a kind of "Replace" effect. The replace calls the DE Rock monster model in.

 

Last I heard there was no way for the UI to tell the Power to tell the replace effect to be different.  It would have had to be a different power that called on a different replacement.

 

Unless they did some behind the scenes work of course.  It's just more complicated than most powers.

Agreed on adding additional options.  As a geological era myself, I can vouch that there are many types, colors, etc., of granite.

I really want to make a stone armor character since its changes and the addition of combat teleport but i dont want to look like that awful DE quarry clone.

 

Maybe ill just make it and shelve him until the day that granite armor can be customized

The explanation I remember from the original devs is that Granite Armor was a full-character replacement, like the Halloween costumes, which is why it looks the same regardless of the character's body choices. Because it replaces the character model, there's nothing to recolor, and it would take someone creating and rigging the lava and crystal forms in order to make them available as alternatives in power customization -- and I don't believe that the development tools exist to do this at the moment.

Frankly, I would also love to see some non-fully-replacing versions of Granite Armor. From what others are saying in the thread, that may be easier said than done, but maybe no harder than additional replacement options.
