Scrapper ST DPS

BrandX

Wasn't there a breakdown of the Scrapper primaries in terms of best for ST DPS?  I can't find it.

Trying to decide between Claws, Katana, Dual Blades and Spines (which I know loses the ST) and while I can find the mission clearing side breakdown, trying to look at everything as I decide what primary to pair with a /Stone Armor Scrapper.

Clearly you need to do Claws since you can have SA do a flip. :classic_biggrin: Looking at the Pylon spreadsheet, DB is showing up more at the top for those in the list. Claws is close though.

Top 10 Most Fun 50s.

1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute. 8. Emma Strange: Ill/dark. 9. Nothing But Flowers: Plant/storm Controller. 10. Obsidian Smoke: Fire/dark Corr.

I get that same flip with Spines. 🙂

And it's being a hard choice in what to go with!

Seconding the recommendation for Claws, it has a great mix of attack "shapes" and is especially satisfying on a Scrapper.

If you are focused on Single Target damage, why are you leaving out Energy Melee?

However, don't forget that Scrappers are getting Stone Melee too, which looks like it's going to be pretty darn fun too.

Also Dual Blades is getting some QoL love on the beta server, so you may want to test drive that too.

Of course, the other correct answer is "You have 1000 character slots and free renames! Make one of each!" 🙂

Spines gets a little less, imo, from Brimstone due to the lower modifier to the fire dmg proc for Ranged attacks.  Impale's Brimstone dmg was pretty low compared to melee ST attacks with similar activation times, and Throw Spines gets a double-whammy as it is ranged and the fire dmg proc is affected by Area Factor.  That can all be extrapolated from patch notes, so hopefully I'm not in trouble for saying that outside of the Beta section.  There's more info on how Brimstone works in the /SA Feedback thread though.

I haven't tried Katana, but War Mace is pretty satisfying.  Rad Melee has also been interesting, but those animations, lol. Despite that I am actually somewhat tempted by Rad/Stone.

It's also a nice boost for Savage as well.  Haven't figured out the interaction with Leap, but VS benefits from it quite nicely.

I think that it's hard to decide between fast attacking sets to maximize applications or slower sets for bigger dmg/tic is a sign that it might be pretty well balanced.

I'm not so much focused on ST Damage, as I'm focused on using what is effectively sharp pointy object(s). 🙂  Which is why Spines is on the list.

Axe could be on the list, but I never liked it's animations and only really enjoyed it with my Ax/Fire Armor Concept (Fireman with fire abilities \o/)

Savage melee I was kinda looking at, but I'm unsure of it's mechanics and really don't know the set well.

Spines looked like it could slot the new Ice Mistral Set nicely tho.

Wait for Page 3 to hit as the set overall is getting a buff.

Ummm, we can do claws/db/kat with scrapper stone armor? Holy crapsticks on a crutch.... well farkin A for no granite on scrapper stone armor.

Claws/Stone it is for me then.

You know, right there is a good a good reason to go with one of those, as we couldn't before O.O

Hmmm...Claws is looking to take the lead a bit here.

The pylon thread has the breakdown you're looking for.

The ST difference with all those sets isn't noticeable (except for spines, don't do that for performance).

But everyone is saying Claws for a reason. It's crazy versatile.

image.thumb.png.ba824ddc484e25694f403a186b31490f.png

These are all ST performance times, but Claws greatly outpaces all of those in the AOE department. But in terms of ST performance times, Claws was noticeably consistent. The other sets were RNG as all get out. But the averages are all really close, so it could just be RNG giving one the nod over the other. I've had times as low as 1:06 with the EM. That one get's silly.

Slapped together, very non-optimized build, all T4ed up, 2:25 pylon time for claws/stone scrapper. Definitely lots of room for improvement. Ageless radial will have to be in play for more DDR and Recharge. End suckage from 8 toggles should be tolerable with the 3 available spots for perf shifters if you go body mastery as well. Heh... even building blind, just going off other builds, I landed at 181.25% global recharge.

Is that the best way to go for Claws?  To throw in Gloom/Zapp?

Sadly, just like with sentinels and mind probe, moonbeam/gloom/zapp appear to ALWAYS increase the overall DPS of any given single target attack chain for every melee powerset.

This is, of course, stupid and should have never been the case.

But I still don't do it on my claws users and stick with followup, focus, slash, repeat.

I do, however, have gloom on my shield/nrg tank so her chain is ET-long, tf, et-short, gloom, bonesmasher, repeat.

Well, I know I liked those Snipes (and the holds they come with) on more than a few of my melee, as they just work with concept too.

Is any of the Fire Epic blasts good with melee for DPS too, or just the Snipes?

Blaze Mastery doesn't have a snipe. Just plain ol' fire blast. Looks like Zapp and Moonbeam are your only choices on scrappers.

Edit: So yea, just the snipes. Gloom for tanks and brutes isn't a snipe, but it's overall DPA is so freakishly high, like sentinel mind probe, that it falls into the same category.

With moonbeam/gloom/zapp, are these being slotted as proc bombs somehow (like Sentinel Dominate) or just with regular ranged/snipe IOs with just the one damage proc?

(I just realized that on my Scrappers, I always go Body Mastery, and on my Tankers, I'm chasing Dark Obliteration to use as a Ragnarok slotted pulling tool.)

I find both Claws and Titan Weapons to be on the more boring half of the melee set options. So I’m a bad min-maxer 😕

Katana reeeally appeals to me for this. Golden Dragonfly can slot Achilles’ Heel, Fury of the Gladiator, and/or Force Feedback, and is super sleek and cool to look at 🙂 incredible.

Ice Melee is super appealing to me as well; it’s just good at everything and not boring.

EM is EM ofc

Follow-Up>Slash>Focus>Eviscerate

(No Incarnate) 4:07

(T4 Musculature/Assault/Reactive) 2:44

Couldn't get FU>Slash>Focus w/out some gap time, slowing that down (and lag really started to happen making it impossible for me to really tell), but then I also love the Eviscerate animation.

It's true. I silenced the not ready sound so that I could have gaps and not end up shoving pencils into my ears. Think the BZBs all have about .2 seconds between slash and followup.

My average is also 2:44 with Musc/Assault/Degen on my claws/sr. How are you slotting that chain? And is that on beta with stone armor or something else?

Do you have a Claws build that is your favorite that you’d like to share? I’ve only run a Claws/Elec Brute, but Claws seems like a perfect fit for a Scrapper. Torn between Claws/Bio and Claws/Energy Aura.

Sure. Here's the current claws/sr build. I've also got a claws/bio but it needs a respec.

I briefly spun up a Kat/Stone on Beta just to give re-rolling my Kat/Rad one more thought.  Full Skin Armors with contrasting colors and the "Fire & Ice" Energy Sword looks very good, though not the right look for the toon. Would probably be a very good combo, likely wouldn't need to worry about DA.

Did a little more building with Rad/Stone ... my gawd the endurance consumption between all those toggles and IG. Devastating gets a huge Brimstone Proc, but I would probably hate leveling Rad Melee.  As a combo for leveraging weird mechanics it will probably be very solid though.

If there was a one-handed hammer skin for dual blades ...... 😄
