I finally got my DM/Shield Scrapper to 50 after putting it on the shelf due to alt-itis and taking an absence from the game. @Murcielagowas/is the OG DM/Shield Scrapper and was instrumental in my interest in the combo and this build. Hopefully they still check the Forums and are still active. I re-jiggered this build a little and wanted to see if anyone had any tweaks or feedback to suggest. I was really unsure how best to slot Siphon Life, whether the ATOs are in the best spots and if the Incarnates are still optimal, but it is all open for debate. Oh, and if Touch of Fear was now worth including in the build possibly. Any and all opinions welcome! Thanks in advance.

Uh.

Well...

Uh...

You kinda forgot to put most of Dark Melee in your Dark Melee dude!
Also ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS turn off the Yellow toggle in ANYTHING with a Force Feedback proc in it.  It'll mislead you as to +Rech performance.

I know that people love to have Quadrillion-Percent Recharge.

Procced out Touch of Fear adds more AOE than you realize. The soft control it provides is nice, but that's not the real reason to take it. Add Ball Lightning, Soul Drain, and Shield Charge to the mix and your AOE isn't horrible. This is defense soft-capped and 2s shy from perma-hasten. With Ageless, Time Lord Day Job, and Base temp power you will easily be perma...those three are another 40% total. SL resist are at 52, FC resist are 43.2, EN at 21.5. Park your character in Cim for the extra +3 res to all. You won't encounter enough Toxic and Psi to really care, but those are 20.75 and 14.5 on this. One with the Shield isn't even on the bar. It's just a unique mule. This will crank out some darn good DPS for a DM.

 

Remember, this is a scrapper. Play it like one. Kill things. Taking your time will get you earning debt.

Gone through about 6 respecs on mine since dm got its update. Ended up running 2 builds, 1 for low level stuff running shadow maul/touch of fear/cross punch, the other for high end content drops all those for fire mastery looks something like this now. Agility was essential. Ring of fire see's lot of use. Stuff runs away...a lot. AAO doesn't keep the mobs close like it used to and av's don't like getting a face full of a soul drained midnight grasp. 1 hit from that they usually try to leggit.

Heh, it does seem that way doesn't it? 🙂 Really the difference is Shadow Maul in your build, which is far better on a Tanker. But that's why I posted - the old logic when I first built this toon before Dark Melee got some changes might not still apply. Thanks for the feedback! I will take a look!

My distaste for the changes that were made to Shadow Maul is legendary, but that being said, you can easily have a very effective build either with or without it.

 

My most recent DM/regen scrapper build did have it, but mainly used it as a proc delivery mechanism.

I wanted soft-capped positional defenses, decent resists underlying the defenses (as high as I could manage in a reasonable harmony with defense and damage) and a seamless (or mostly seamless) attack chain.

 

You were the original inspiration @Murcielagoand this was based on an older build of yours, which was likely before the changes to Dark Melee went through.

Touch of fear is pretty good now and I'd definitely add it to the build, especially proc'd up as mentioned.  If anything you'll be tempted to spam it to the exclusion of almost anything else when you are in at least a decent size crowd, and it is easy to spam with how fast it recharges.  I do also like shadow maul personally, but I could see skipping that one if you really need to do so.  I got pretty good at hitting multiples with it back when it was only a 45 degree cone, now that it is 120 degrees, it seems super easy to me to hit at least 3 (and it is worth it dps wise as long as you are hitting at least 2 things with it).  The tanker version at 180 degrees is just silly, but not needed to be good.

 

But, I'm probably also one of the few that always takes shadow punch.  I like having the smooth attack chain early and without it the set doesn't feel "punchy" enough for me.  I've seen others complain the set ends up feeling like you are always just sticking your hand out and things die and it feels weird, never had that feeling with mine. 

 

I also have never taken soul mastery to this point which seems everyone's favorite epic pool (usually go leviathan for the easy one power wonder of water spout).  So, I can say my builds are probably not the min/max most optimal out there.

It's capped to M/A, sadly not capped to ranged, but it shouldnt be a problem. It has 59.5 S/L resist and 27.5 E/N. Hopefully, with Dark Consumption and Body Mastery, you may not need incarnates to solve endurance issues. But I won't know until I level this one and try it out, this is just theory 🙂

 

Actually, with Touch of Fear, Shadow Maul may not be needed at all. It may be replaced with Shadow punch, or with anything else

I don't take them for buffing other teammates, I take them for buffing myself. It's just an added bonus it adds that to my team.

 An extra 10% damage adds up.
