Page 7 Farming Microguide (Maps + Builds)

Hi guys, been looking for new maps as well and prior to page 4 I always used the Chuck Norris tunnel map and I always farm solo or just to level up my own alts.

So been using 41794 America’s Angel asteriod active farm and 50968 KaizenSoze’s Decoy asteriod farm.

 

Solo farming gets me this

XP  Minion 4272

       Lt         8544

       Boss    25632 or 24463

 

Inf  Minion  5979

       Lt         20504

       Boss    64081

 

The Boss numbers do seem toa change very slightly during the mission but I could see no reason why!

 

With the Farmer and one alt at level 10 I got (just for info)

 

XP Minion  4005

      Lt          8010

      Boss     24031

 

Inf  Minion   3738

      Lt           12816

      Boss      40051

 

So both these page 4 arcs are pretty much on par and the only difference for me is the actual game play style, one is just a usual large mobs wandering and the other uses decoys to aggro the mobs to you.

Finish times are much the same.

Really enjoyed both and thanks to you both guys for doing the work to help us farmers out, appreciated 👍👏👏

 

If anybody has a page 4 tunnel map I can use I would love the number ID please, ty.

 

HOWEVER, I have no logged data to support this feeling but it appears to me that the leveling speeds of my lowbie alts using 2xp has dropped considerably?

For example both the above maps took three runs to level up a lvl 10 alt to lvl 20 with 2 xp on that alt.

Also I have a lvl 44 alt with 2xp and it seems to level at the same rate as the lvl 50 Farmer. I watch the progress bars and they increase together and I would expect the lvl 44 with 2xp to level at roughly twice the speed of the lvl 50. This is absolutely not happening.

Any ideas please?

The reason your lowbie is leveling slower is likely the change in the 2xp buff from p2w. Per the HC devs, they said that their testing revealed that the 2xp we thought we were getting was actually 3xp. So, yeah, the reduced leveling speed with 2xp should be expected.

@America's Angel <doh!> You're absolutely right. It didn't even register in my feeble mind. 

Near as I can tell, this mysterious 100% XP figure seems to be: 
6408 for minion
12816 for LT

38448 for Boss 

At least, that's what I was getting on my own "test" map. 

What's puzzling me is why my characters seem to struggle on some of these adjusted maps, but not on other adjusted maps. I think there's a lot going on behind the curtain that the combat log isn't showing. I keep hearing/reading people talk about upping the s/l resist, but I see no evidence of taking any s/l damage in the farms. Puzzliing...a good word for it.

Precursor statement: I focused solely on DPS after Res/Def caps. I am not an expert at this, so some of the assumptions I made when making my build might be wrong!

I took a look at your build and it has good bones with getting the Fire Def/Res caps. I'll post my AFK Rad/Fire build with some explanations of variations so you can make changes to your Spines/Fire without needing to make a whole new toon!

First, You need to slot your Burn for Procs. That is where the real meat and potatoes of damage comes from. I have mine slotted with all the ones I can outside of 2 slots of Superior Unrelenting Fury for that 2% damage boost. I actually stack that set of 2 three times in my build giving me a nice 12% damage buff off of 3 (6 including initial) slots.

You want to do everything you can to focus on recharge speed, then accuracy/damage. You will be only auto-casting burn. so every other power except the Damaging toggles are sets to further your Burn/Toggles. I also have way less recovery than you do, because Burn only uses .48 end a second on my build, so any recovery over .48 end/sec is not as prioritized. This will make actively farming on the toon, a bit harder due to end issues, so if you want to be more flexible with the build by all means slot more recovery. Looking at yours your burn use is .47 end/sec and your recovery is 1.9 end/sec. So you will have plenty of excess end.

I am starting to rant, and forget what all I was going to type so I will cut it short here. Your build might be better due to a higher Regen for survivability. I found that sometimes mine will die when I go AFK, But it has been pretty iffy.

TL;DR: Focus on Procs from burn. Cut the excess endurance/recovery, Pump more recharge/damage.

Also anyone please feel free to critique my build. This is my first time posting it publicly, so I would love feedback and the opportunity to learn more!

Edit: I think my build probably needs more regen, so I might be tweaking it to focus more so on that.

Really, all you have to do to make your existing Spines/Fire into a current-gen AFK version is ensure you have the +Regen and +Health accolades and grab Spiritual T4 (or possibly just make do with Survival Amplifiers).  I think Spiritual T4 is +33% Health and Regen?  I think Survival Amplifier is +40% to Regen and +15% to Hit Points.  So depending on your slotting, -might- be better off with Survival Amp I'm thinking?

Map 41794 I cleared in 3.10 with my savage/fire brute. BP pet was on cooldown so didn't use it nor did I have the P2W buffs.
My Rad/Fire brute did it in 2.40 again without the pet or buffs. 

The map seems way smoother than some of the others I've run on page 4, thanks for this!

Giving this a go based on America's Angel rad/fire. Without tactics/focused acc all i was seeing was miss/miss/miss/miss. Standing in the open will get you killed regardless of your regen/hp etc. The best afk farm maps are still using the old atta map, that allows you to aggro mobs then move around a corner so you dont get hammered by all the ranged blasts:

Took a look at your build and I saw a few potential problems/rooms for improvement.

First, your fire defense is not actually soft capped! This can easily be resolved by boosting those Luck of the Gambler sets in Weave/Combat Jumping/Maneuvers! Every percentage under 45 counts.

 

Second, assuming you are constantly casting burn, you are actually using more endurance (.19/s) than you are gaining (.17/s) and will eventually crash due to lack of endurance. A simple fix to this is to grab the Atlas Medalion, which would bump it up to .32/s. That gives you a lot more room, and you free up some of your slots which were for only recovery and pump something else up. For example in your Burn power you can slot another Unrelenting Fury instead of Armageddon Dam/Rech for a 4% boost in Damage.

 

Third, Do you use super speed? If this is intended to be AFK and you only use the character for farming, it isn't needed. You can use that to grab a concealment power for one last LotG Mule. You can do the same with Rise of the Pheonix. I don't believe the proc you have slotted there will ever trigger outside of using the power.

 

Lastly off the top of my head your -Res proc in Blazing Aura is not as useful as having it in Burn, where it will proc every time. Out of the picks to swap it with, I would do the Superior Unrelenting Fury, since you are already not slotting it for the 4% damage buff, and it has 7.5 PPM, which will work well on an aura toggle like Blazing Aura. If you do grab that bonus then I would do either smashing or lethal.

Should of mentioned, i have all the accolades. The luck of the gambler pieces are already boosted. Fire def is over 45%. I have tier 4 ageless so endurance is alway full and if i'm afk it never moves anyway. Superspeed is off when farming unless i have to run to a mob. Preventetive proc is a global so it can be slotted anywhere and still apply. Swapping in the relenting fury costs me 10% recharge. As to the fury of the glad your probably correct i often move it about i have a bunch of unslotters in case i do.

I decided that this was a good time to try making a fire farming map. I have based mine on Big Gotter's 19823 tunnel map. I used AA's above mob powerset settings and they work a treat. I can run the entire tunnel solo or with an alt at the door and never have to heal .... and that is the problem. My mob pack sizes run around 12 mobs (2 bosses, 4 lts., and 6 minions). It doesn't seem to vary with our without alt at the door. I am used to 19823's mob packs which spawn around 18 to 20 (sort of hard to count precisely) mobs per pack. Since I am brand new to AE map building, can I increase the pack size in my program editing somewhere? I counted 19823's pack size with an alt and without, and it is way bigger both times. Thanks!!

It's not going to make any difference, with the updated farms if you stand out in the open alone with no helper/lore out every mob that can see you will fire an attack and you'll drop in 15 seconds max regardless of build. City maps/tunnel farm/cave maps where you can pop round a corner are no problem. Meteor map with no helpers is insta death once your in the middle. Pretty sure players are setting up ae stuff with helpers/decoys etc that will prevent you from faceplanting after you zone. Not even sure if barrier would make a difference i haven't tried. I have no intention of checking emails/buying survival temps etc i know i would forget and not keep track of when it runs out. I usually run rad/fire and i still prefer it but you need to be quite active and there's times i'm spamming the heal. So i messed about again with the spiny build, made another from scratch so i'll have to run it through accolades again which meant a few changes that would let it run some content but remain pretty much the same in a farm. Lost 7.5% recharge but picked up perma hasten once spiritual is in. Quills hits more often now it has an acc/dmg piece in and that bumped regen a teeny bit. Hop into the farm click hasten, by the time it drops the decoy map (50968) is clear and its recharged for the next run. Power picks were not in this order it was just me messing about in mids:

IMO your build is lacking in health regeneration hp/sec but you are on the right track.

 

The Mids regen figure without the Unrelenting Fury proc for your build is 330% which is a good start but if you can find an extra 100% that would be ideal. Next issue is max hp -- more hp means more hp/sec. It is possible (without accolades) to reach 1,900 ish (2,200 with accolades), your build is on 1,650. I suggest splitting Apocalypse in to 2x3 in to Impale and Laser Beam Eyes for 2x16% health regen and 2x3% hit points. Use the set finder in Mids to identify set bonuses for 16%, 12%, 10% regen etc and more hp and figure how to alter your build further. You may need to sacrifice some of your mule slotting f.ex Brawl and Boxing.

 

Overall (without accolades) you are on 22.76 hp/sec despite 330% -- your goal is 35+ hp/sec. The Unrelenting Fury proc will stack on top of that for another 3-5 hp/sec approx. If you get the HP accolades add another 5 hp/sec approx. Try the open asteroid map again, see how well it goes.

 

An AFK build that can withstand the aggro can be done, has been done (but not shared in this thread).

Plus some of the critters use Aim or Build Up type powers (it means instead of 54s rolling sub-10% chances to hit, they roll nearly 50%!).

Your right, those whip attacks hurt, why would i expect fire attacks from demons 🙂 Bad assumption to make. As to splitting the apoc set up i hadn't considered that- good idea although it means dropping something to squeeze in another power and losing 10% recharge i doubt that will matter if i stick to spiritual. Seems like every choice is a bad choice, how much recharge are you prepared to sacrifice, will it affect how fast your burn fires off or is it irrelevant on a proper afk farmer? I ended up going back on the rad/fire/mu the kill speed was so much faster it was a joke and reminded me why the spines had been sat afk since year 1. Since the thread isn't purely for afk farmers and sometimes i'm active i'm still finding that the atta cave map is the best for either. I have the accolades for both hp is pretty high, i respecced the rad/fire for a bit more regen and it seems ok when i go afk , having body mastery on the spines doesnt seem to make a huge difference unless i'm standing right out in the open and i don't farm the meteor map anymore i got lazy and the constant zoning every 4-5 min put me off it. Thanks for all the replies, hopefully that afk farm build will get posted eventually that can survive but i'm pretty happy with what i have now and i'll probably end up throwing mu back on the spines if i ever use it again. It did have me wondering though.....since quills slots AT sets and irradiated doesn't- is it easier to get higher regen on a spines over a rad in which case the spines would jump to no. 1 afk farmer?

Burn recharge speed on an AFK farmer does matter in edge cases where critters have swarmed.

 

Rad/fire will always attain a little less hp/sec compared with spines/fire (with hp/sec a goal) because rad has no ranged attack (at least 1x ultimate regen less i.e. 16-28%). IG is a power I think few understand f.ex accuracy has to be added to the power so the pseudo-pet actually hits anything (all procs is no good if the power is whiffing all the time). Yes, Quills is easier to slot.

 

I use three types of AFK farmer: spines/fire and rad/fire (brutes both with HP accolades), spines/fire brute without HP accolades (a clone of the other spines/fire to satisfy my curiosity that it can live the AFK life too). Page 4 has not stopped them yet while they AFK but I realise they are one-RNG extinction event away from being stopped (fire blasts all rolling a hit simultaneously for a long moment) so I am curious to witness if that actually happens.

Closest in update to that(ie a large map with easy spot for sitters) thus far that I've seen is 45721 by Patty.  Its exp is just a sliver under the above talked about ones but survivability and length are there.
