Attempting to Make the Most Durable Fire/Fire Tanker

Title says the goal.

Caveats:
- I want it to be playable when exemping down to do lower level TFs (No reliance on incarnates to be functional)
- Super jump! No fly.

Here's my first attempt! Help me build masters. Money is not an issue. Go nuts!

I arrive!

 

 

Most durable would either be Ice Melee with Ice Patch, or Martial Arts and go around with 45% defense (40% without Incarnates).

 

But trying to make the most durable Fire/Fire might be something like this:

Some things to consider:

 

- The raw stats in the slotting of Fire Sword make the slotting better for Greater Fire Sword, but then the +6.7% resists are only available when Greater Fire Sword is.

- The build is at 85%-ish for the important resists such as S/L and E/N with one stack of the ATO in Fire Sword. A second one will finish capping the resists at 90%. If you were to indulge in incarnates I'd lower the resists to 77-78%-ish to take in consideration the 5% defense and resists from Barrier.

- S/L defense is at 40%. Not many ways to improve it further without sacrificing something. Not taking Hover did not help since those 2%-ish defense had to come from somewhere. But it's good enough for exemplaring and for high level content Barrier permas it at 45%.

- Psi, debuffs, and Toxic, will always be a problem. Kill fast, use inspirations, be ready to kite (the Martial Arts version mocks most debuffs). I know slotting can help but then something needs to be paid for it.

 

 

This is a max level respec build. If wishing to level with it I can rearrange the order of powers and slotting.

45% defense to melee, range and AoE on top of 90% to S/L/E/N on top of 3 minutes pylon time. It's my magnum opus.

I felt this made for a pretty survivable Fire Tanker.  You'll have to figure out how to make the difference between Axe and Fire Melee.

Its been attempted both in OG, and when IO's first came out...you're more durable, but the most durable fire tanker? That's an oxymoron with how the class is designed. As for the lower levels, I already know its going to be a turrible time, I'd like to see some vids of that fresh new hell, because I know its just going to be a lot of annoyances given everything at those beginner levels.

Not sure what you're on about. The 'class' is Tanker who are extremely durable. If you mean the set then it's a resist set and once at 90% resists (easy on a Tanker) 90% of the damage is blocked.

 

In a game where IOs can make a Scrapper durable enough to tank 80% of the game a Tanker falls apart?

 

Early levels are the usual: either solo and then slot attacks first and survive via inspirations, or teaming and then slot tank powers first. Either way Burn is a nice AoE addition for those low levels and Amplifiers are there for everyone.

With full IO transfers and amplifiers my Fire Armor Tankers start soloing at 0x6 for Posi 1 and 2 and then never move from +1x8 from Synapse onwards. Without full IO transfers they stay at around x4 until their 30s until I earn enough money for the more expensive sets.

 

 

On the other hand Defense sets have a much easier game since they get a fat 6% at level 10 on top of whatever their shields give and they get more from Hover/Combat Jumping and an early Maneuvers. Once at 30-ish% (not that hard) the are effectively invulnerable since they only require the occasional small purple. I have some Shield and Stone Armor characters who are at 40-ish defense at level 24 which means they don't even need small purples. But solo they feel horrible without the extra damage and AoE. For teams any thing works. Solo though I found I took so long to whittle down mobs that I would be whittled down in turn.

Most durable would either be Ice Melee with Ice Patch, or Martial Arts and go around with 45% defense (40% without Incarnates).

 

But trying to make the most durable Fire/Fire might be something like this:

Some things to consider:

 

- The raw stats in the slotting of Fire Sword make the slotting better for Greater Fire Sword, but then the +6.7% resists are only available when Greater Fire Sword is.

- The build is at 85%-ish for the important resists such as S/L and E/N with one stack of the ATO in Fire Sword. A second one will finish capping the resists at 90%. If you were to indulge in incarnates I'd lower the resists to 77-78%-ish to take in consideration the 5% defense and resists from Barrier.

- S/L defense is at 40%. Not many ways to improve it further without sacrificing something. Not taking Hover did not help since those 2%-ish defense had to come from somewhere. But it's good enough for exemplaring and for high level content Barrier permas it at 45%.

- Psi, debuffs, and Toxic, will always be a problem. Kill fast, use inspirations, be ready to kite (the Martial Arts version mocks most debuffs). I know slotting can help but then something needs to be paid for it.

 

 

This is a max level respec build. If wishing to level with it I can rearrange the order of powers and slotting.

Would you be able to do this for someone who is leveling their first character since 2008? Oh and broke...and I mean broke. Following guides I've made a couple million inf. relatively easily, but really want to quest and level. I still have to learn the enhancement changes.....plus I'm currently leveling with DO's, a couple of SO's, and one recharge I just made following the University instructions.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated...and thank you in advance!
