Greetings all !

After reading insights on the revamped Necro, I decided to pair it with FF. From what I gathered,  the pets could achieve a decent amount of mitigation, with the slotting potential of Dark Empowerment being the icing on the cake. I figured if they could reliably self heal, plus have Panacea, Numina's , Regenerative, and Imp Skin procs working together in unison , then if I could bump their defenses up, then they could be a nice little powerhouse.

Finally got my newest project to 50 and at least T1 on all incarnate powers. All I can say is....I believe this is my new favorite MM!

I did not take any Epic Powers (didn't have the room/slots to reap any benefit). I got all my pets to 45% defense to all (except psi and toxic).

And it is glorious. They are so sturdy. With the procs in Dark Empowerment , their heals, and the OF proc in zombies, they are hard to kill. Well, they're zombies. So they're already dead...so does that make them hard to get double killed? Anyway, you get the picture.

Such a strong and fun powerset. Highly recommend to anyone that wants something different , or has never played either set.

Very cool! Love the idea. The revamped FF really a hidden gem (along with Necro which was always beautiful). I’ve been pondering a new Necro; your post pushed me over the decision line.

Did you decide to take you MM attacks? And if so, slotting them or leaving with base a lot merely to trigger the ghosts?

Yes, I took the attacks. I constantly attack to ensure that I spawn the Spectres, plus to help with damage and the little bit of -to hit. Also, with how I slotted Life Drain, it heals for 115HP. Doesn't sound like a lot, but that's 13% of my total health.

I'm sure there are probably better ways to slot (like the Soulbound Proc in GKs for one), but so far it's working out really good for me. I think Soul Extraction if off perma by like 13 seconds? I'm gonna keep on playing, finish off my Incarnates, and maybe try to tweak a little bit here and there.

Have to agree all the way, pretty much stopped playing my /dark /kin /elec in favour of the bubbler. Went a slightly different way buildwise, i started having endurance issues soloing the av's at the end of tf's as i spam the attacks constantly to pop the tanky spectres and have the t1 on auto and run sorcery (had a few issues with pets getting humped by mass aoe's or overwhelmed by mobs) , having spirit ward on a single t2 pet usually buys me enough time to resummon if things go bad. And i prefer the small amount of - res from repulsion bolt on av's over the force bomb application to mobs. It really is a fantastic combo since page 5 rework to necro and bubbles:

Can confirm that necro/FF is pretty darn tanky.  The pet heals and -ToHit goes a really long way.  I also have a necro/time that is honestly just as tanky, but it feels a tad bit stronger.  Could be the debuffs and the heal.  The slows and -damage from Time go a long way to keeping the undead .... alive.

Now here's an unusual thought... necro/traps (or trick arrow).  I have both in the mid-30's with just the pet uniques and endurance QoL procs and they're both pretty darn solid.  So if you are looking for something different give them a try.  I am really loving my necro/traps though.  As is always the case, traps isn't great for teams (that's where Trick Arrow shines), but solo I drop my traps, fold space, and then soul extraction..not much lives after a few moments which isn't bad for zombies w/o a heal from the secondary (don't have Triage beacon at the moment and don't really feel I need it).

This has me wondering about a Ninja/FF mm and trying to softcap the ninjas.

Although Necro is probably my fav mm primary despite only having 2 of them (when I have 4 robots die to building three at one time for mm farming). I can just imagine a grave knight hacking away well smiling inside their bubble.

Ninjas are good, but they don't have any resistance to back them up when they do eventually get slapped.  That said now that they all get a heal after the second upgrade, if they do survive getting hit they can heal it back.  They're not paper dragons anymore, more like cardboard.  My baby ninja/ff MM (lvl 34) with basic slotting has the pets at 60+% to ranged\melee\aoe (the value depends on the tier, but they're all over 60).  I haven't decided yet if I'll go for power boost or stick with fire for Bonfire yet.  I'll probably do power boost though because -DEF is super annoying and having high enough shields that it doesn't matter will probably be better.

So they're pretty darn tough, but anything that has serious -DEF (CoT) or drops burn patchs\caltrop just ruins everything..  Some creative macro'ing to make the Jounin target annoying mobs helps a lot though.

Does Power Boost work with FF? Most or all of FF's bubbles have some kind of +res effect. Deflection has +toxic res, Insulation has +end drain res, Dispersion has some +mez res etc. @Crysis pointed out in an old thread that PB doesn't work with Cold because of that. I tested PB + Cold shields and confirmed that PB didn't help.

Should. Those Resist portions in FF are unenhanceable, unlike Cold which can be slotted.

You're absolutely right, just tested and it does! Why do pets not get the Dispersion Bubble buff?

Truly unsure. They should? Unless they're out of range or there's some weirdness with Ninjas.

Stupid me. Activated Dispersion Bubble with Personal FF active.

NecrobubbleMM.mxdThis is what I'm running ATM if useful.  PB+Clarion for sheilds.  I usually PB+shields at least whenever I Soul Extraction, so the summoned pets get bubbles too.  Missing IO in SoulExtract is Unbreakable Constraint +Smashing.

Also when spamming the tier 1 blasts, don't forget to put that theft of  the essence +end proc in life drain, helps a lot. I'd probably slot it 3 theft of the essence, the proc, acc/heal, and acc/end/heal boosted, and 3 purples the damage and damage/end, and damage proc.

FF is pretty amazing on MMs. Played around a bit on Beta. Slotted Deflection/Insulation + PB + Clarion Radial + slotted Dispersion will softcap any/all pets within range to M/R/A and S/L/F/C/E/N.

Add slotted Maneuvers + Edict + CtA will get them above incarnate softcap, +58.5%, to the same positions and damage types.

That's alot of def for a minimal amount of power picks and slots. Might be overkill for defense pets like Bots, Ninjas etc. Great for resist pets like Necro, Mercs etc.

I'm going to probably try pairing FF with Ninjas. Get pets to incarnate softcap and build the rest as my first Scrappermind. Or maybe just walk around lazily in the Personal FF.

Consider Cold Dom.  nin/ff is amazing early on but at mid/max levels when you got slots for the pet auras you.. go a little overcap.  This is without powerboost.  also PFF shuts off Supremacy/Dispersion/Leadership on your pets

Yes. If you slot Imp Skin:status resist/regen in your first upgrade, your zombies will get that bonus.

If you slot Panacea,Regenerative, and Numina's in your 2nd upgrade power, it has a chance to proc on them.

So just to confirm: Power Boost works with ForceField buffs (deflection, insulation, dispersion) but it does not work with ColdManipulation (Ice Shield, Glacial Shield, Arctic Fog)?

If so what's the reason for that? Seems unintuitive.

How long does it take you to kill AVs? I don't see any -regen which is why I'm considering going cold instead.
