Martial Arts attack chain ATO proc placement?

Thrax

Recommended Posts

If you're going for maximum DPA (and not taking a snipe), the 4 best attacks are Storm Kick, Crippling Axe Kick, Crane Kick and Cobra Strike. You can chain these in any order pretty easily. With sufficient recharge you could drop to 3 attacks if you had something else you wanted to take. Since you're skipping Eagle's Claw, there's not really a heavy hitter you're using as a finisher. CAK is the highest damage of the 4 but not by much.  I put the Critical Strikes set in Cobra Strike (since I slot a KB>KD in Crane Kick).

Also, Eagle's Claw gives you a buff that increases your chance to crit for 2s with martial art's attacks. So if you aren't taking a snipe, I'd seriously think about taking EC. I have the CS proc in EC, so when it goes off I have almost an 88% chance to crit with Storm Kick and Crippling Axe Kick right after that. I'm not sure what your chain would be without a snipe, but for me personally it was:

EC-SC-CAK-Snipe

For AOE you can pop buildup, Eagle's Claws, then Dragon's Tail.

Eagles claw that bad?  Seems to be doing well enough leveling after crit chance. And the stacked stun with cobra strike seems good. Guess that isn’t what I asked though either.

I do have Eagle’s Claw in my build, but mainly because I like the animation. I throw it in for color or if I need a heavy hitter. It’s not bad, but it will lower your DPS.

Where does it say EC boosts crit rate?  I am by no means doubting you, just how is one supposed to know this. Only thing I can see is it says plus special but doesn’t even say what they is.

It's a bit of a debate between having your highest damage attacks benefit and maximizing proc chance.  I ended landing on the maximizing proc chance end of things.  To that end, if you take Eagles Claw I'd stick the Critical Strikes proc there.  Otherwise, Crippling Axe Kick is probably the next best for chance to proc.   I did try putting it in Storm Kick for a while so CAK and EC could benefit, but even with using SK twice per rotation it procced much less often.  Plus, Eagles Claw with Critical Strikes proc followed by Dragon's Tail results in an awful lot of critical hits in a mob.

My preferred single target rotation in EC-SK-CAK-SK-repeat, switching to EC-DT-SC-CAK-repeat in the middle of a large mob.  That does take a lot of Global Recharge to pull off, but SR gives you plenty of opportunity to build it in.

Eagles Claw does state that it has a higher crit chance than other MA powers in the description, but if I hadn't seen it mentioned here on the forums I might not have realized the effect lasts a couple seconds longer than the animation.  It is noticeable once your watching for it, though.

I’m messing with proc in eagles claw while leveling now. Still just 40. Seems good. I’m leaning toward ec-sk-cs-sk  and doing the same with dt when in mobs. I’m sure cak is better I just don’t like either animation. I also like the stacking stuns from ec and cs. May forgo hasten and throw in crane kick instead of second sk. I do love kicking the shit out of stuff and it go flying.

Oh it’s for sure first world problem. Just unsure how I was suppose to know. Need to read up might be missing stuff on other powers.

Fair enough. City of Data is an amazing resource (once I figured out how to read what I was reading ... mostly, still a lot I don't grok), and I'm quite glad that its maker(s) keeps(keep) it maintained. If the Meta is part of a player's fun-time, then it's definitely the place to go.

Aside from Word Of InternetMouth, idk how to get the word out either.  I think there is a pin about it in either Guides or Tools; if there isn't there should be.

Taking a look at @Ston’s recent testing I was surprised to see MA perform so well. The ignorant side of me just thought that, since it lacked the +Def that Tankers and Brutes get, that it just doesn’t jive with a Scrapper as much.

The added crit bonus from Eagle’s Claw must really make a difference though.

I think it always had the crit bonus. Brutes and tanks got +dam on port. They also got +def to all on storm kick for some reason. It's a whopping +15% def on the 2nd highest dpa power for tanks.

10%, but yes. 7.5% for Brutes.
