Come on!  You KNOW you want the Sister Psyche reading a pervy van's mind and grossing out on film!

Unlikely unless....

Spoiler

...Sister Psyche's death is ignored, reversed, retconned, or she comes back as a ghost, like Numina, War Witch, and Ghost Widow.

Hey, if Sister Psyche goes all spectral, the four of them could get together to play cards, complain about the living, share dead hacks, reminisce about the past, all sorts of activities! 😺

Oh what could’ve been. If COH had reached the heights of popularity that WOW did, who knows what might’ve happened.  I used to really want to see some more COH related media, I enjoyed the comic books growing up.

I kind of enjoy the City of Heroes comics too.  Maybe someday we'll see them again..  But beyond that...?

Let's look at the example of Dungeons and Dragons, who's first edition was released in 1974.  Its foundations were connected to the 1971 miniatures wargame rules Chainmail and its fantasy supplement.

It took 50 years to get finally a good D&D film finally, last year's Dungeons & Dragon: Honor Among Thieves (2023).  Although there have been many other comic book movies, many of them are of...variable quality.

So, following D&D's example, we should see a good City of Hero's film some time in the 2050's. I sure hope I'm still playing City (should have at least a few more L50's 😺).

But if I'm alive, I'll be in my 90's. 🙀

I dunno.  Some of Jack's early ideas for directing game play (You SHOULD BE STREET SWEEPING to get ANYWHERE!) are not the sort of things that should be encouraged with giant piles of money.

I love the game.

But most of what I love are the products of Paragon Studios building on the original platform.

So now that Homecoming is a licensed CoH server, does that make the unlicensed servers legitimately illegal?

@Super Whatsit

Superbase passcode (Excelsior) is "passcode-6475"

It's all a Nemesis plot.  But not everything is a Nemesis plot!

Actually insanely impressive to see this happened. Don't see companies willing to do this very often. I don't have a very good general opinion of NCSOFT but I can definitely respect this decision.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just add the HC Launcher to Steam as a non-Steam game and get the side benefits?

I would also hope the HC team will put CoH up on Steam as a way of advertising. As I understand it, since it is free to play, no fees would be involved.

Honestly, I have no clue.

Never trusted Windows OR Steam enough to even try it.

And the..."indie" nature of the game after 2012 was enough that I never even wanted to do it.

Yes, you can and I've done so.  Only thing it won't do is track hours played (that I've seen anyway).  Handy for taking screenshots and easily sharing them though.

Can also add it in through GoG galaxy and there it will track time played (or time you have the launcher open technically).

Personally I think it would be cool for it to have an actual Steam page though.

Best way to track hours through steam is using the Steam App ID from the original (App ID 29680).  The original (added in 2009 AD) is still in my steam library and should be in yours if you had steam back then... If you were lucky enough to get City of Heroes: Going Rogue on steam during live... It should still track your hours... IIRC all you gotta do is edit the launch parameters to launch the HC Launcher instead of the old NCWest Launcher. Personally I don't have time to try this out, but I bet it'll work!image.thumb.png.b5ef07eadca8849661537690714963af.pngimage.thumb.png.b5ef07eadca8849661537690714963af.png

How do I do this?

I found the button in Steam that says Add a Game, and I Browsed to my HC directory, but now I'm not sure what to do from there?

You need to look for the launcher program or a shortcut to it.   "HC Launcher" or "Homecoming" are both in the main HC directory for me and either work.  Both actually point to /Homecoming/bin/win64/launcher.exe   Any of the three will work and it doesn't really matter.

Double click on one of them and then "add selected program".    It should then be in your Steam Library.  You can then right click it in Steam and go to properties and rename it in the top box if you want a better name for it.  Should be all there is to it.

Edit:  Also nice now that Steam has added automatic video recording as well and that feature also does work even with it just as a "non steam game" shortcut.

I haven't tried @AlpineTsar's way yet and I never had CoH on Steam originally, so can't speak to his method.  I did something I think similar to add Daggerfall Unity in Steam in place of original Daggerfall and to have the Unity version hours tracked for me even though that version isn't on Steam, so it should work if you can figure it out.

Ok, I figured out HOW to do it, even how to change the name.

I still don't really understand, aside from the OCD pleasure of having all your games in one place, what the REASON for doing it is?

A lot of it is that, just to keep it with all your other games.  Also, some people might like that their friends can see when they are online and playing it without them having to log in as well.  As well, as said before, it is an easier way, imo, to take screen shots and see them right inside Steam,  and now to take videos.

This doesn't actually seem to be the case unless I haven't set it up properly?

Make sure on the friends menu on top that you are listed as "online".  You can go "invisible" or be offline and be hidden (which sometimes I'll do if I don't want to be bothered).  Other than that, not sure.
