Jacktar
Hi, am wondering if there is anyway to stop the game cycling/transitioning from day to night from my perspective only. My eyes are not what they used to be and I am having difficulty playing during the night (darkness) phase? I am not wanting the game clock to be suspended just the graphics. I know we get the opposite for many days during the Halloween event and would like the same to happen for me but just staying daylight all the time. Thanks
Techwright
Not a clue on that, so I'll leave that to others to comment. But I'm curious... Does adjusting the Gamma help at all? I was wondering, assuming adjusting the Gamma helped, if someone with macro skills (I'm not that person) could help you set up two macro buttons: one to set the Gamma to an ideal level for night/dark environments, and one to set it to your ideal day environment. That way, you don't have to trudge through the Options Menu often, but rather just click a button. I realize that would not be an ideal solution, but perhaps it is a reasonable work around until something ideal does come along? 1
SeraphimKensai
My understanding is that the time is serverwide and not just experienced on a client side. It might be possible to make a mod though to replace the exterior night textures with copies of the day ones, but I have never bothered getting into authoring mods for this game, so I'm unsure.
City Council Michiyo Posted August 28 City Council Share Posted August 28 Yes, this is 100% possible, and I've confirmed I can make zones stay at Noon all day. It's a lot of work because there 138 files to override, but I'll get that done and make a mod via https://mods.cityofheroes.dev 2 1 6
Jacktar
oh my goodness, I have no words enough for how humble and priviliged I feel to be part of our game and of this fantastic and unique player base. It is astonishing and wonderful. Thank you all, thank you all.
City Council Michiyo Posted August 28 City Council Share Posted August 28 Alright, so I've done this, https://mods.cityofheroes.dev/mod/265 A huge note on this though, it replaces EVERY sky in the game with the Atlas Park sky, that has no Day / Night cycle. Every zone, including the Shadow Shard, Pocket D, etc they're ALL blue skies. Here is Atlas Park @ 10PM 1 1

Thank you 🌟🌟🥇😀 Michiyo is rather marvellous. Every time I've asked she's come through with a solution. Most of the time I don't understand the explanation and just nod until she stops talking though 🙂 3

Even though I like the day/night cycle stuff, I'm curious to look at was the Rogue Isles looks like with AP sky. Figured it was moddable. Great job and response time. 1
Jacktar
Hi, so an update, mod installed smooth as silk, checked all zones red and blue and gold ( approx 50 sites) and all working as intended. Chilled in a couple of them to see if the transition did not happen and all good, strange to see the lights come on but no darkness. Perfect for me. I did get some amusing responses to my plaintive ask in chat if it was day or night mainy alcohol and herb based comments 😇 Yes of course given the still fabulous graphics the game launched with I have lost a tad of the atmospherics but really a small insignificant amount in return for my enhanced seeing play experience. Cracking mod, thanks again, such a happy bunnie here 👍⭐️⭐️ Going, Hunting, Skulls again……..😀 2

I have this monkey wrench that comes in handy sometimes, but others times it is causes trouble. I'm wondering what happens when this mod is active and an event occurs that changes the sky color - Rikti invasion or Zombie Apocalypse for example. 1 If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

As stated, it replaces all skies, including any event sky swaps. It sounded like that would be the preferred option in this case, however I could remove the overrides for those in another version of the mod if needed. 2

Maybe a different day time zone sky for events, so there would still be a change, but no dimming?

Or are those skies on a different setup?
Arc-Mage
If I may suggest an alternate option for those who may not want to change folders in the game? Go to Menu-Options-Graphics and Audio Scroll down to Experimental Graphics Settings and Turn this ON Then Enable Cel Shader This will put a white line around everything in the zone making everything easier to see at all times of the day and in zones with Fog of War. Being constantly offended doesn't mean you're right, it just means you're too narcissistic to tolerate opinions different than your own. With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility. Black Tangent
Sadly, I may have to try one or both of these soon. If smacking headfirst into a building caused damage, flying in Grandville at night would have me hosp'ing 5x just to go see Lord Recluse. Thanks for making this easier for us old farts to play!
