Have an Official Test Server Base.

Recommended Posts

add a command to the freebie popmenu that has a base code that takes people to the public official server base with teleports, flashbacks and the mission computer for tip missions ect..

or make it a free power you can buy from the S.T.A.R.T vendor that does something like this.

Quote

 /macro_image "Veteran_TeleportBase" "Base" "powexec_name Base Transporter$$enterbasefrompasscode TESTBASE-12345"

Having an official base only for the test server would be fine since data can be wiped at anytime no one wants to spend the time to create a cool scenic base and even though it's the test server there is still useful features that bases exclusively have.

Lastly it would be awesome to allow the most talented base building individuals to create an official base for everyone to use there so it's a win win.

It's an interesting idea.  I'd be fine with just a barebones basic base.  I'd not be on the test server to sightsee, but to test.  Having a universal base ready to go with all the basics needed gets me into testing mode faster.

One caveat:  the idea kind of plays against any future testing needed for upgrades to base building.

I think if the main area had everything easy to find I wouldn't mind it being decorated but I understand your point. I think a mix of two would be fine some people like having a scenic base but at the same time if it's too big it's now too hard to find and get to everything, so you lose efficiency.

not sure what you mean by the last line though upgrading/buying stuff for bases is free right?

That depends entirely on the base design. For instance, my primary base on Everlasting has everything you need up front. You enter through base portal, leave the entrance room, and you are looking at the base teleporters ahead of you, have the merit vendor and crafting table at your left, and the storage areas are store fronts on either side of you. Everything is right there. And the rest of the base is still there if you want to sight see. There is a way to make a base that is effectively a small base for accessing everything you want to use for content playing while still retaining a large, scenic base for people to enjoy.

(Edit: And the buff station and the Pillar of Ice and Fire are conveniently at the teleporters. As is the tip mission "vendor" where you can spend reward merits to get the mission you want.)

(Edit again: And the tailor, trainer, and stores are in the entrance room. So again, everything is in a small, easily navigated space at the entrance.)

Pretty much a basic transport hub with the Ouro Crystal, Mission Comp, Empowerment stations, and NPCs for training and vending.

Either that or add a portal section to Fort Trident & The Crucible.  (Though it's another step to get there)

Heck, one could make this base be an automatic add when the server is wiped and is Supergroup #1.    Passcode Homecoming-1  (Heck, do this on all shards)

Correct.  I'm not actually referring to any costs, but the need for testers.  Having a fully functioning, universal base kind of undercuts efforts to get player testing for supergroup bases.  People would go for the "pew pew" tests, and not follow through with the base design upgrades.  Don't sweat it though.  I consider it a minor thought.

Feel free to use my transport hub on Brainstorm, PPOC-5. What it lacks in style, it makes up for in practicality. The portals are clearly marked and it should have all the amenities you need (except maybe a tip computer, which I can add). If you need something it doesn't have, just ask and I'll add it. It has been around since the last server wipe 3-4 years ago.

EDIT: It used to be listed in the welcome login message for one of the Brainstorm channels, but I think that channel went away (or maybe I got booted) as I don't recall seeing that message in a while.

I've also got a SG Base on Brainstorm with a full set of Telepads, NPCs, and everything else needed.  It does including an Oracle for Tip Missions.

/enterbasefrompasscode JACKE-348

This a great to know and I will use this base code thanks, but this really just highlights the need for an official base even more. word of mouth is the only way to know about these bases a new player who hasn't seen this thread will just never know it exists.

its great to know players are creating bases even though they can be wiped at any time but knowing is really the main issue here, there is no resource in game to know this or suggest test server base passcodes to use which is what I would like to see changed.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for an official base, but you never know. I've posted my code in as many places as I can think to enhance visibility, including here and on Discord. As I noted, it used to show up on login as well, but apparently no longer does. Probably the easiest solution is to include it (and any other bases) in an official welcome message when logging in to Brainstorm.

Edit: I hopped on Brainstorm last night to add a tip computer to the PPOC-5 base, and when I logged on I saw the welcome message that included the base code again, in the Gold Standard chat channel. That is an opt-in channel so it wouldn't help for new folks, but at least it is still there.
