biostem
I was trying to come up with an AT where the character would play one way in their "base state" and another in their "powered up" form. My initial thought was to go with a blaster, where I could use the blasts in the armored/powered-up form, and the secondary melee attacks in their normal mode, but then I was thinking something like a sentinel with the fighting pool could also work. A Dominator also came to mind, but in that case, the control powers don't quite translate as well to the concept, IMO, (maybe gravity control could work for the mecha/powered-up form). I suppose I could roll a melee AT and just not consider the character "complete" until I have their APP/PP, but that seems a bit longer into their career than I'd like. Your thoughts? Additional note - I'd want to use my own costumes for the various modes, so Kheldians with Nova and Dwarf wouldn't really work, and I'd like a bit more flexibility as to what particular powers I ended up going with than a SoA/Widow would permit...
TygerDarkstorm
Hm, this is an interesting concept. At first I was thinking it was similar to my savage/bio brute who takes on an alternate form for battle, but you're expanding the concept beyond just a costume change into battle. I do think your blaster idea seems like it would be a good fit for what you're trying to do, though you'd have to be careful of coming too close to being Super Saiyan I suppose, but their power picks seem to fit your concept well. I do think a dominator could be a good fit as well. Technically, doms are more about the assault as their controls are only there to set up a fight, then you spend most of your time using the assault abilities. Symphony might not fit your concept, but it's a very blasty control set like gravity if you wanted the controls to be the flashier, powered up portion. 1 1 Global: @Valnara1; Discord Handle: @Valnara#0620 I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂 Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster

I was thinking energy blast for the primary as well, Ninja training I could see working for your concept. Martial combat might be another one that could work for it as well. 1 Global: @Valnara1; Discord Handle: @Valnara#0620 I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂 Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster
WumpusRat
Closest thing I have to that is a character that's a mastermind in a mech that she can only use for a limited time (it's got power source issues). In her "base" form she's got an energy rifle and a couple of force blasts from her gauntlets. Then she can "power up" by calling in a mecha (using a prismatic costume of a cataphract) that can deploy smaller mech to fight alongside it in battle. 2

Oh you're right, I didn't think about how those might be a little too super. Hm... classic energy/energy? I was thinking atomic, but looking at it again, it might be too super. I'm not sure if any of the other blaster secondaries really fit. 1 Global: @Valnara1; Discord Handle: @Valnara#0620 I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂 Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster
biostem
Just now, TygerDarkstorm said: I didn't think about how those might be a little too super. It's tough to pick a "mundane" blaster secondary. Devices could work if I mixed in the fighting pool, but I'm still leaning toward ninja training, lol!

I thought devices as well, but yeah, wasn't sure it was too ranged or if it fit what you're looking for. I say give the energy/ninja a try and see if it fits the concept. 😄 1 Global: @Valnara1; Discord Handle: @Valnara#0620 I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂 Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster

If you did get the dominator bug, sounds like martial assault would fit. 1 Global: @Valnara1; Discord Handle: @Valnara#0620 I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂 Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster

So after much tinkering, here's what I came up with - An energy blast/ninja training blaster. I called her "The Comet Ranger": 2
Psyonico
Ninja Training is a pretty solid set, so I think you'll be good on that front. I really like both of your costumes. Especially the "powered up" one looks really good. 1 What this team needs is more Defenders

You can definitely do something similar with an Undead Transformation on a Necromancer, or more of a "reveal my secret allegiance" costume swap with Ninja/Mercs/Demons/Thugs ... I guess you could reveal your fursona for Beasts...
Nutation
You can also have multiple builds. Pick more of one or the other power set + pool powers in each form, leave the remaining illegal powers without enhancements. You can't switch often using this method - you are limited to every 15 minutes, and every power is on cooldown when you switch.

Blaster would probably be my first choice, with the power-up being whatever you like. Energy Blast probably being my first option for powers. An actual henshin would be also my first thought, with a full new set of clothing or armored gear, but I'm sure there's other ideas too. I also have a Titan Weapon brute with power armor who "powers up" for fights. And I have a more classic brute, a large green man (Atomic Bulk, don't generic me!) who also "powers up" and loses half his clothing in the process. I do have a Sent who powers up. He's a riff on an old doll, Captain Action, who came with a variety of gear and face masks to let him look like a number of other superheroes. My character wears disguises, to confuse and prey on the superstitions of his enemies. It's a weird schtick but it's actually fun to play around with deliberately different costumes rather than clustering around a theme. 2
WanderingAries
Oh, I thought this was a new AT suggestion. Kinda like the ability to do a Jekyll and Hyde type character. It would have to be a ground up AT for sure, but would be interesting. 2 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica! tidge
Alternating between builds is probably the easiest way to have a "no obvious powers" build. Other options: widows can go multiple ways, and/or lean into the Leadership powers for one... but then you are limited in the types of attacks in a way you may not want. Something like a Traps primary/secondary could be somewhat "civilian-like" for non-Blaster options.
