I accidentally joined Midnighters thinking it was like twin shots  shining stars. I' do NOT want any part of it how do I quit it?

Can a GM remove my hero from it?

You can't unfortunately. Membership is kind of required though. Some of the later content is based on the idea of you being a member.

What's the problem anyway? Just curious as it's literally a badge and doesn't impact you except to open up later content.

I will delete the hero in question and not take that contacts quest again. The problem is that I want to play in my own way. I accidentally opened something I do not want for my play style.

I don't like the fact the quest never told me what I was getting into sorry to trouble you.

If you can please modify the contract so a player knows it unlocks group content that the player may not wish to proceed with.

That's your choice, but the ITF in cimerora is one of the best written task forces in the game, and honestly a lot of the content in Cimerora is pretty good, and ties into the lore of how your character eventually becomes an incarnate post 50.

If there's some confusion about having to complete a mission you took, you can talk to the contact and choose to abandon the mission. Then go talk with your other contacts.

group content

What group content? Do you mean joining them story wise or actual content? Because you don't have to have a team for any of the Midnighter content, it is very soloable.

Note that if you wind up doing the Incarnate missions in Dark Astoria, if you finish Praetor Duncan's arc, you will get the Midnighter Badge if you don't already have it.

You also will get it if you enter the Midnight Club in Nightward.

Side info:

Technically, you can do Cimerora content without the Midnight badge, by getting someone to open a mission in Cimerora and then Mission TP to it.  Then you can get the explore badges to get the exploration accolade which will allow you to enter Cimerora via Ouro.  (Or do the ITF while there which also gets you the ability to enter Cim via Ouro)    You won't be able to enter the Midnight Club from primal, but still able to go in from Cim.   It's a silly trick and not that useful.

Eventually you'll be given membership whether you like it or not as it's required for the Incarnate content.

Thanks for the update. I will treat midnighters like I treat pocket D content I ignore. For me midnighters club dose not exist. Just like pocket D. It's sad really but I would like to play in my own way and style. In the end it's my choice. And opinion. Thanks for responding.

And again sorry for the trouble

Last I ask this by NOT doing this content or Not doing incarnate content do I diminish or lessen my enjoyment of the game?

There's a lot of content, and some Incarnate Content is available.  Though to avoid certain badges, etc... you'll probably have to check the wiki.

Frankly, I find it easy to head canon my way past a lot of badges or behaviour that wouldn't make sense.

Hi...I don't think so.. There is a lot of content especially below level 50 and ouroboros

He'll probably want avoid Ouroboros as well. I just find it bizarre that someone would want to intentionally avoid an important part of the game that actually doesn't impact you in any way except to open more content. There is a lot of stuff you join and never hear from again. The Shining Star, the Regulators, Vanguard, Midnighters, Ouroboros.

Not if you enjoy playing it your way.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

Back during the live era, I happened to be on a Bots/FF mastermind tooling around Grandville.

As just a matter of course, every time I saw another player, I tapped my two ST buffs to driveby some defense onto them. This was

*PRE*-IOs, so Diminishing Returns was a thing, but softcapping with just enhancements was not, so 99.999% of players were not only not unhappy to receive some extra defense for 120s, they were usually pretty appreciative.

Then I ran into that .001% person.

"DO NOT BUFF ME!" was shouted in broadcast upon what I saw as a beneficial action.

IIRC, they were a fire/fire brute. They were melee, at any rate.

I was confused, so, intrigued, I began following them around, keeping them in my big AOE bubble and keeping them topped up on single target defense. The abuse being hurled at me only intensified over about 20 minutes, until a GM finally contacted me via tells and asked me something like, "Please don't taunt them. I don't know WHAT the deal is, but they're pretty upset."

So one person's 'Nice!' may be another's 'OH GOD WHY ARE YOU TORMENTING ME?!'

To the OP, there's actually a villainous story arc that lets you act pretty unfaithfully towards the Midnighters if you have some kind of beef with them. Look for Darrin Wade.

I have family members who shy away from any kind of fiction remotely attached to 'magic', thinking it's ultimately Satan trying to tempt you. The kind of mystic stuff that goes on in CoH's complex, intertwined lore would be exactly the kind of thing that would upset them. If that's the kind of thing that's bothering you, be aware that there's magic all through the game, at all levels. Even if you try to go purely tech/science, you still run across it.

If this applies to you or anyone else, remember that everything that goes on in CoH is fiction, and the developers who wrote that fiction have been very open and straightforward about their creative process and influences. Nobody is trying to lead anyone into evil or damnation here. The story bible that contains all the original Cryptic/NCSoft/Paragon game lore is easy to come by and, unless you're trying to avoid spoilers, well worth reading.

This is really an important thing to remember in general.  In an online game like this, we don't know what's going on in another player's head, and we don't know what their motivations are.  We should try to respect people's preferences as much as we can (within reason), even if we don't understand their reasons, and even if their reasons don't make sense to us.

By "within reason", I mean, for example... if the solo player in your example specifically asks you not to buff them, then don't buff them.  On the other hand, if they want to team with you, they're going to have to accept getting buffed because otherwise it's hurting the whole team's experience.

To the OP, my suggestion for dealing with being stuck with the Midnighter badge when you don't want it is to ignore it on an in-character basis.  Like, "these crazy people gave me membership to their stupid club.  I told them I didn't want it, but they wouldn't take my name off the list.  That doesn't mean I have to actually go there or even acknowledge them, though."  So, basically, it's like being signed up for someone's spam email list - you can't really do anything about it if they refuse to take you off the list, but you don't actually have to read their emails.

I realize this might not be a satisfying option for you, but it's the only suggestion I have.
