I'm new I'm looking people to play with and help me with this game

1. If you want more opportunities to encounter people to help you, then you may want to choose higher population servers such as Excelsior.  Playing during its peak player concurrency times also helps too.

2. What specifically are you needing help with game with?

  • A certain amount of game play is experiential learning and the game is relatively solo friendly.
  • We also have many guides, subforums and more as well which can help answer questions for you here too.
  • In game when you make a new character you can also choose to designate yourself as someone needing help as a title to your character.   Then you can simply ask in game's help channel or its general channel.
  • Additionally, there is a discord channel for assistance.

Best of luck.

The guide in my signature has tips for new players. Use and abuse the /LFG channel for teaming purposes. In the forums front page you also see which servers have more persons. Take a look when you play to see if the majority of the server is online when you are.

For example if I only had time when I am posting this a look at the servers tells me I should be in Excelsior.

But if roleplay interests you then Everlasting is a good choice too as its where the majority of that community is.

The culture in this game is really built around pick-up groups and just doing whatever content you like.  Watch the LFG channel and ask to join groups you see forming there.  Unless they state a minimum level (like "35+") then they're usually open to anyone.

The best way to join is to left click on the person's name in the chat window, and pick "Send <name> a message" right at the very top of the pop up.

Once you're on a team mention you are new.  Most folks will offer tons of advice, even overwhelming amounts.  Absorb what you can, leave the rest for later.  If someone seems especially helpful try to stay and chat them up for more advice.

Use "/g" in chat to send messages to the team window.  There's tiny buttons just above where you enter chat that will set the default so you don't have to type that each time.  I think if you right click on the window just above where you enter chat you also set the default.

Welcome and good luck!

Welcome home.

I'm sure that others have already said it, but the easiest way is to a yell out in /lfg.

Not just asking to join a team, but asking people to join you running the content that you are running.

You are going to have more luck recruiting for hero content than you are for villain or Praetorian content (but note that some Praetorian content level 20-30 is in the First Ward and Night ward zones that both Heroes and Villain can join ... but may have to be in zone in order to do so)

Some people are chatty on teams and others aren't.

If you can't get the kind of help you need from teammates, there is always the /help channel.

The less populated the server, the less likely you are to have a response in the /help channel. The higher the population, the more snarky/unhelpful replies you are likely to get and sometimes multiple topics being discussed at one time.

I'm glad to hear you are there to have fun.

I hope you can get on some good pick-up teams and/or find those friends or supergroup that can play regularly during the time that you can regularly play.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
