If a new team of level 1s start on Goldside how would different alignments affect mission choice or future mission choices?  Would teammates be able to select the same mission without breaking up to do so?  What impact would a blue or redsider have on the team?

For example 3 Wardens, a Crusader, 2 Power, a Vigilante, and a Villain team up, would there be any effection or affection for the Golds?

Teaming?  In Goldside?  Are you MAD?!

Seriously, though.  Interesting question, and I have no idea what would happen, because—well, see my first line above.

There is no such thing of that on Goldside.

Preatoria is faction based. The Resistance and the Loyalists.  Non Praetorians cannot start missions there, though they can join you on your teams. Their alignments do not mean anything since Praetoria is technically a Co-Op zone.

You can follow story and swap sides several times or stick to one, etc... Everyone can select same missions if you are Praetorians and on same faction. If your different factions you select certain missions together and others are different.

Not sure what you mean by Crusaders or Wardens?  Alignments system goes: Hero, Vigilante, Rogue, & Villain.

Crusader and Warden are the two Resistance storylines and there really isn't a 'Hero or Villain' side because depending on your character either side can be viewed as the villains. Though both Resistance and Loyalists have their extremists and moderates.

For the OP not sure how they would interact, depends on who the mission holders are and it may not have any impact at all. It may require repeating the final decision missions for each player if their running a "deep cover/spy" story arc.

One thing that will be required is toggling XP, especially while running a team because you will easily outlevel contacts in any of the storylines and miss those choice missions.

I use this to put a button on my toolbar to allow me to easily toggle XP off/on:

/macro_image "DayJob_XPBoost" "XP Toggle" "option_toggle noxp"

Dislike certain sounds? Silence/Modify specific sounds. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx?

Check out Michiyo's modder or Solerverse's thread.  Got a punny character? You should share it.

That and the final decision missions are single player only.  The Crusader and Power factions contacts are locked to their specific faction.  You must be aligned with the Resistance to access Crusader contacts and Loyalist to access Power contacts.  And as Zhym said, "are you MAD?!" :classic_laugh:

I would love to see a full group run Bobcat's "Hunt Down Shen" mission.  I can only hope the ambushes are at x8.  Bring your AoE!

BTW, my guess as to the actual answer is that Loyalist/Resistance alignment controls who you will give you missions, but not whether you can do a mission.  So if the team lead is Loyalist, they can get Power or Responsibility missions and everyone on their team (including Resistance members) can join in.  If those people happen to have the missions from their own contacts, they can complete them.

But I've never tested that, because Praetoria is built as a solo storyline.  I mean, a team of people taking down Reese hardly establishes everyone on the team as "Top Dog," does it?

I believe this is correct. A few years ago our goldsider SG "The Ozites" on Reunion teamed all the way through goldside, and no one was locked out of any mission because of alignment conflict. Except, as noted by others above, for those missions at the end of each arc which are coded as solo-only.

One thing to note, though, is that even though the contacts in Praetoria won't refuse to talk to you even if you are Resistance aligned and they are Loyalist or vice versa, some of them are physically unreachable to you if you are the wrong alignment. Mainly, all the Resistance/Crusader contacts are located in the Resistance's underground base which the game will not let you into if you are Loyalist aligned. I.e. the contact himself/herself in principle would talk to you, but you cannot get to their location to talk to them. Likewise for some of the Loyalist/Power contacts who are located inside buildings to which Resistance scum are not allowed access. But as Zhym pointed out, only the team leader needs to be the relevant alignment in order to go pick up the mission.

Does ATT work to those locations?  If so, what happens if, say, a Resistance Member ends up talking to Provost Marchand or the Deputy Assistant of Information?

They won't talk to you if you are on the opposing faction.  If you try to talk with Mr. G as a Resistance member he will tell you to go pound rocks (not literally, but that would be cool if he did).  Same thing with Dr. Hetzfeld and all the other "Power" contacts.  What you really need to be careful about (I have done it once and it is a pain to fix) is switching factions before completing the (Crusader/Power) arc and not having any other arcs left in the zone.  I once switched to Resistance on my second to last arc in Nova.  Unfortunately, the only arc I had left in Nova was Reese's and as soon as I switched to Resistance the mission and contact were gone and inaccessible.  I had to run through the entire Crusader arc in Imperial with my XP off and stuck at level 10.  I betrayed Wardog and switched to Loyalist then went back to Nova and beat up Reese.  I was almost halfway through Imperial City by the time I hit 15.

I stand corrected. As mentioned above, I was sure Power contacts would still talk to Resistance chars and vice versa, even though have never actually bothered to test it. But I happen to have a lvl 13 goldsider who is Resistance aligned at the moment, so I tested Apogee's statement by walking up to Mr. G (as he stands in the street, i.e. is not locked behind a no-access area), and sure enough, the G-man would only say "I believe the path you've taken doesn't suit our goals, [charactername]. Let's speak again if you've had a change of heart, yes, let us indeed speak again."

Thanks for the correction, @Apogee

Anytime, my friend.  I have seen an uptick of Goldsiders lately on Torch.  Hopefully more people are enjoying it on the other servers as well.

To be clear, as a Resistance, you can contact and do SOME Loyalist arcs, and as a Loyalist you can do SOME Resistance arcs.  You just cannot do the "extremist" arcs of the opposite faction.

Here's a chart showing the arcs you can access with your alignment:

Alignment Crusader Warden Responsibility Power
Loyalist   X X X
Resistance X X X

I hope this helps clarify things for you and anyone reading this.

Mr G is a Loyalist Power contact so certainly, as a Resistance member, you would not be able to do his arc.  But you could do Loyalist Responsibility arcs.  And in Imperial City, those contacts are:

  • Interrogator Kang
  • Alec Parson
  • Investigator Whitworth
  • Chance McKnight
