Snarky Posted March 19 Posted March 19 This is my Mount Everest. I used to do this about once a year Redside on a Brute. Just red contacts. I have tried all a few times. Got close on a Brute, never finished 35-50, 40-59, 45-50 content and there were annoying holes/mistakes. I have started a few since but I always seem to encounter a weird bug or discover i missed one thing. Been using Blasters. This is another opportunity. I have rerolled Snarky as a Dark Dark Corruptor. I am using a new strategy. I complete all Blue Content at the LOWEST level available. Which is annoying. But it (should..) eliminate problems with small missed content. The fun part about using my Vampire concept for this is there is actually lore that matches. In some Vampire lore there is a nod to vampire OCD. Stopping to count seeds or grains, and is the basis for the Sesame Street character. Snarky must complete every contact, for every mission they offer. I am working full time (and a few other things) but am using my CoH time to mostly do this. Currently finishing 5-9 content. And carefully stepping into 10-14. Slowly…. 1 1 1
American Decoy Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I am doing a similar thing with a Peace Bringer lore run that has expanded into The Hollows and Kings Row missions. I am also running nearly complete red-side lore missions. I love using a macro to toggle XP on/off. Nod to Gulbasaur's two guides: The Good Missions Guide: A Heroic Levelling Journey through Story Arcs Blueside Guide, and The Mean Missions Guide: A Villainous Levelling Journey through Story Arcs Redside Guide. 1
Scarlet Shocker Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Fucking hell, finish the job already. Do you know how many times Everest has actually been climbed by now? kids these days... 4 I neither know, nor care, what the difference between ignorance and apathy is
Parabola Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Chapeau! I've had a few tries at this and given up every time. I'm settling for doing everything in flashback but in level order for my current run - it's going well, nearly finished 25-29. As well as missing out loads of hunts it means you get to keep levelling and can use a much more fleshed out build. Of course there are a load of missions that aren't part of a story arc or have a badge so these are out of reach doing it this way. I don't like playing on anything other than the highest settings I can manage though so it's still taking a long time... 1
Skyhawke Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Has anyone done the full monty and catalogued the journey, IE: a comprehensive list of what to do, when and how? Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Originally Pinnacle Server, then Indomitable and now Excelsior
Parabola Posted March 19 Posted March 19 The short version is shut off xp at every level ending in a 4 or a 9 and do everything you can. There is a bit more to it if your OCD is very strong though. When I've tried this I've been aiming to get all my contacts to confidant status (full bar) but that raises an issue blueside. A lot of the old origin contacts share a pool of missions alongside those specific to them individually. So, if you tap out one origin contact before moving onto the next you can find there aren't enough missions left to get the new contact to confidant. Unfortunately, even bearing the above in mind my last attempt at this was spoiled by a contact I couldn't get a full bar on. I'd been cycling through all five origin contacts in each level range but I still ran out of missions. Other than that the main dangers are forgetting to do something (the atlas park safeguard is easy to miss) or just simply not shutting off xp soon enough. You have to be very careful of mission and story arc completion bonuses, particularly early on. Something I've been enjoying while doing this kind of challenge is to try to get field crafter more or less through drops alone. It gives some purpose to all the enemies you are wading through with xp turned off. You still don't pick up enough lv10 recipes though. It's also quite satisfying to pick up the exploration badges and history plaques as you go too. It's a different experience doing it when the mobs are still a threat. 1
Glacier Peak Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I did this on my namesake, took years. Just be careful once you summit this mountain - your game freezes briefly when you open your inactive contacts tab or souvenirs tab. 1 I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! Best Post Ever....

Anout half the contacts are part of a “nest of 2-5” different named people that are all the exact same and you will be randomly assigned one of them. Once you have that contact open CoH wiki contacts by level and see who is “dead to me”. I keep a spreadsheet. For Blue stopping experience at 4, 7, 9, 14, 19 is still not enough! At least one of the level 9-14 contacts is bugged and only gives mission to level 10s. This run i am stopping experience at the BOTTOM of the possible level range, complete everything i can, go uo one level, talk to everyone, repeat…

Healix Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Wow, this is weird. I decided to use the Pillar of Ice and Flame for the wayback missions and do EVERY ONE that were never done. I am playing a re-rolled character that I created on live (2005), my very first tank. When I had to arrest 10 Skulls and 10 Hellions in Perez Park, it took me back to live when I first started playing...great feeling of nostalgia. I have been having a blast. 3 Forever grateful to be back in my city!

Game Master GM Crumpet Posted March 20 Game Master Posted March 20 A lot of contacts are purely for levelling and repeat missions and never run out. It's impossible to complete about a quarter of all contacts. 1

Healix Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I was always under the impression that it was you origin that determined what contacts you get. Magic gets different certain contacts than natural, etc. 1 Forever grateful to be back in my city!

Magic gets different certain contacts than natural, etc. Prior to level 6 you can go into the downstairs area of City Hall hero side and talk to everyone in each of their little rooms by just walking up and clicking on them (Azuria-magic, Prince Kiros-Mutant, Susan Davies-Natural, Jonathan St. John-Science, Rick Davies-Tech). You then get every contact of every origin and can do all, some, or none of their missions. It doesn't matter what origin you are. Once you hit level 5 or 6 at the latest you can talk to each of them again and they will introduce you to the next contact of their origin and again you can do the missions from every origin contact regardless of your origin. Those will then introduce you to the next tier of each origin and so on. Now, as you get to higher level tiers there will be more than one possible contact for each origin and you will randomly get one of them, but you'll still end up with 5 different contacts (one of each origin) in each level range that you can do and each contact of that origin will have the same mission set. A good chart is here: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Stature_Levels tldr: Origin really doesn't matter in determining what contacts you get. Keep in mind that if contacts really were origin restricted you'd have to be magic origin to get the very popular Atlas Medallion accolade because the Spelunker badge that is needed for it comes from a magic contact. Edit: Keep in mind that chart isn't always entirely accurate as the level ranges can vary by a level a lot of times. So it says they are 10-15 but they might actually be 9-14. A LOT of blue contacts are eliminated by being 1 of 2,3, or … that give that exact set of missions. I guess they did it to make repeat play through seem exciting and new. All it does for me us add a hard level of complexity to a daunting task. And that is another reason i call this bitch “my Everest”

It's not quite as cut and dried. Some contacts have a story arc then endless repeatable missions, some have just repeatables until you out level them. Others just have story arcs. Across the entire game I may be overestimating as a quarter, but I'm including all the repeatables like Shadow Shards Edited Thursday at 11:37 AM by GM Crumpet 1
Snarky Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Update! Level 14 with only two contacts left before hitting 15. Ouro should open at 15. I will stop exp at 15 and do all the low level Praetorian arcs, and the lowest tier of Ouro badges (just doing them on the first missions of arc 1 prae, which makes a couple harder but oh well!). But the big news is I hit 750 badges! Now I wear the Adventurer badge title. A decent achievement on a level 14 lol. This includes all location badges except maps i cannot get to yet. It includes all invention badges except the craft 2000. And a ton of random stuff because i run with anyone doing content that interests me and a bit with Justice Super Teamers on their “warmups” before main events Fri and Sun.
