Are you the base owner: Yes (edited to add info)

  • Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand:  The base entry doesn't face the correct direction due to the orientation of the base itself (can't change it without changing the entire base layout).  The gravestone markers with arrows point towards the Raveyard portion of the base.  There is also a hidden base owner respite domicile that is floating above the mall with a secret entrance, as well as another secret entrance for private parties.  The overall vibe of the base is that it's built on a destroyed mausoleum that has been retrofitted and rebuilt into a mall like atmosphere with amenities for heroes, and villains,  including a super suit tailor shop, and party rooms in the lower levels, and additional portals to get around for people that would be considered "staff"  Loads of spaces for RP potential, or hosting a party.

  • Additional Information:

I felt since this was my first base, and I've really only been playing for a short while, that I should put it in the "novice" category, though, if I were more confident, it'd be in the Sci-Fi/Tech category.

This base is meant to be a scientific think-tank, a kind of science-forward laboratory and defense contract company like Global Dynamics from Eureka, that also happens to host it's own superhero taskforce.

It has several nods to some of the other members of the supergroup scattered throughout the base, and an easter egg here and there, namely in the Hangar. There is an arcane laboratory located through a portal in the second dormitory on the left when entering the hallway. There are even exploration badges that I wish we could program for funzies.

  • Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand:

My base is a re-imagining of a portion of the Eden hazard zone, converted into a swamp and free of Devouring Earth. While it's possible to fly around, and I've left the base without invisible walls to allow other builders to 'peek behind the curtain', the base is meant to be explored on foot.

Exploration, actually, is one of the core themes of the base. While functionality suffers in the sense that the teleporters or other noteworthy landmarks may be tricky to find, or the camera is obscured unless drawn in tight, the wetlands is made to be an adventure. Bring your camera in close, take in the naturalized details and don't be afraid to explore. Jump from lily pad to lily pad, leave the boardwalks and beaten paths to chase a distant light or flicker in the fog. I've tucked little 'easter eggs' to find, some are cute, others a bit grim, or peeks at the life lost, or renewed within the fallen neighborhood block. In fact, if you spot glowing blue 'mushroom spores', it might be a hint that there's something there to see. Then again, sometimes a spore is just a spore. Whatever you may think of this mix of ruined civilization, untamed nature, and creature comforts amidst the wild, I hope the one thing every guest takes away is a bit of the joy of wanderlust.

    Oh also /visscale 5 reccomended.

  • Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand: Visscale 5. The door at the end of the long hall will take you outside. That is the only hidden thing you need to view the base. Travel points are hidden in the vehicles inside as the base was also meant to be functional. There is a hidden area in the alley if you want to take a bit of a trip, but it's not technically part of the base. It's behind the barrel, next to the door marked "authorized personnel only." You will need fly there.

There are several areas that are not for the public and are not accessible. Their presence is either for decoration or private use. The danger room, club preview, my office and the military base are not publicly accessible.

Background Story:

Spoiler

During the gentrification of Dark Astoria, city officials attempted a project which was supposed to be called Little Cimerora. The locals started calling the area "The Ruins" when imported Cimeroran ruins were piled onto the ruins of Dark Astoria. With very few actual Cimerorans involved, the project failed miserably, causing real estate prices to plummet and most of the area businesses to close. The only things left are Club Twilight, which is still considered the best high-end nightclub in Paragon City and The Apparatus, a training and supply company for street-level and Natural origin heroes.

Judging does not start until May 4th, so you have some time to finish this. Bases need to be complete to be judged, unless they look and feel complete without whatever it was you were going to finish. However, an unattached teleport point will be pretty obvious.

The novice category was created for both the new builder, and the casual builder.  If you're not hiring out for commissions, or entering contests and building prolifically, you probably are just fine in the novice category. If you feel like you should not be in novice due to your skill level, by all means, feel free to switch categories, as the "novice" tag will also be reflected in any title earned. 🙂

  • Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand: Visscale 3 or better is reccomended if flying above the water to prevent pop-in.   While flying is fine, especially to look over the top of things on the Island, it was designed for walking, especially in the underwater areas, since toons walking there will be swimming.  Most portals have signs, and all should be clearly visible.  (I hate invisible, often hard to click door portals - I much prefer them to be obvious and not a click fest to find.  But that's just me!).  It is located in Independence Port, and was hidden from humans until the Rikti invaded - and set the Hydra on them!
