cohRock Posted July 28 Posted July 28 (edited) First, this isn't a complaint. It's just something I have wondered about for a while. The maximum level Positron 1 can run at is 15, and Posi 2 is 16. That enables powers to be active thru levels 20 and 21 respectively. There is a power granted at level 20, but not one for 21 (slots only). So the practical difference between the two levels is very minor, right? The only possible advantage I can think of for the level 16 cap is that a person could train to 21 and add slots and enhancements to his accessible level 20 power. (Usually TFs move so fast, a lot of folks wouldn't even bother training, but my point is that it could happen and could offer some benefit.) Is there any other advantage having the 2nd Posi cap be one higher? Slightly related warning: If you are organizing a TF and have a level below its cap, consider passing the star to someone at or above the cap. Levels do not change during a TF. So if a Posi 1 begins at level 9, it remains 9 until it ends. This is true even though the team leader will level multiple times during it. (Being stuck at 9 has actually happened to me.) Scarlet Shocker Posted July 28 Posted July 28 There's a significant story progression between 1 & 2. I believe that Posi 2 is basically higher level to encourage players to choose them in order when at a playable level. If you've never done them before they add to your knowledge and understanding of game lore, so to have them equal or lower levels may give you the wrong orders It's clear as mud, I know but I believe that is the intent behind it All the best chemistry jokes argon
Hedgefund2 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Some teams want to do Posi 1 at low level (8ish) to avoid Ruin Mages. I've not been on a team that did this but it makes sense to me, I'd rather make do without a level 18 power (when exemping) then deal with an enemy that puts an Earthquake under you while protected by a Dispersion Bubble. 2
Psyonico Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I want to point out that once placed, slots "forget" what level you placed them at. So in your example, even at a 15 maximum, a player could train to 21 and still get the slot bonus. What this team needs is more Defenders
Uun Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Posi 1 has a minimum of lvl 8 while Posi 2 has a minimum of lvl 11. I'm guessing that the cap for Posi 2 was bumped to 16 so that the range would span 5 levels. (The original Posi TF is lvl 10-15.) 1 Uuniverse

Or even run the TF at 50 and get the full effect of having had the time to slot out all of your accessible powers. Admittedly, even if you've got ATOs, purples, PvP IOs, and Winter sets, virtually all of the rest of your enhancements won't be giving you any set bonuses, and the enhancement values are going to be worse than if you'd been slotting ordinary SOs, but you'll still have more overall slots than someone who was level 21 running the TF.

I've done under 10 to avoid ghosts. Best way to deal with the Earthquake, get KB resist from base empowerment. Handles it great for 90 minutes.
ScrewlooseCohh Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Slight side track. How many people solo Positron1? I find it much easier to do it solo than to do it with a team.

I soloed it once on a brute without much difficulty. My preference is still teams, though. Thanks all for your replies. I never realized that some people would prefer running Posi 1 at 8 or 9. To me, that's just "ouch", no thank you. -- Rock

A lot of times I'll just do the old-school Positron TF if I want to solo. It takes around the same amount of time as doing 1 & 2, and gives three times as many merits. 1

Marine X Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Yes, but you only get the Original Badge, "Positron's Ally" for the Taskforce instead of "Rule of Three", "Dam Hero" and "Positron's Ally" Badges. I know Sister Psyche TF does, but it's also listed in the Badge Accomplishments column, and the Old Posi TF isn't, which got me to wondering.
