Doc Ranger
1) Slotting a KB>KD IO in there makes them all fall down instead of out. The problem is in big mobs it can eat your endurance bar in a few seconds. It doesn't really work on bosses. Use it wisely. But you will probably not use it much. 2) I don't usually take it but when used it can literally turn the tide of battle by making your teammates unhittable machines...as long as someone dies within range of you. 3) This depends on what you are building for. Certain builds can only certain IO sets. Some sets have Def bonuses in them others have Res bonuses. If you are trying to hit a certain goal in S/L Defense then you will need a Def shield. 4) The problem here is that either one draws aggro. So if you are attacking a mob then go FS and your big attack because if you go FS and then SP...you might be dead before you get off the big attack. If you are attacking a single hard target then go SP first. 5) I usually have Hasten on auto. Rune right before you jump into a hard situation with known mezzers. 6) You nailed it. Tactics. But most Kin builds can operate over the dmg cap in mobs so adding +Dmg clicky doesn't do any good when your build is click heavy already. 7) Yes. I slot stealth IO in sprint on every toon. If you add SS then you are good for "most" content...but you will end up dead trying to blaze by many enemies 😉 8- Rune as mentioned before is good. Clarion Incarnate is good in the late game. The best you can do otherwise is Mez Resistance...which can be found in set bonuses and just limit the amount of time you are mezzed. Darkir will probably clarify any misinformation I may have provided 😉 Edited September 1, 2020 by Doc Ranger A bunch of toons. Global DocRanger All on Excelsior. beradical
Wow, that is such helpful information. I wouldn't have even thought of aggro with SP/FS. I can't thank you enough! One more question. I want to keep speed boost up on my teammates, so since I already use Tab to scroll through mobs, i keymapped Caps Lock to scroll through teammates, and (L)Shift to cast speed boost. that way i can at least CL > Shf > CL > Shf etc. But is there an easier way, such as binding that select next teammate AND cast it? beradical
Well, I tried to bind select next teammate, and execute power. Each works by itself, but not together, so I'm guessing no go on: /bind CAPITAL "target_custom_next teammate$$pow_exec_name Speed Boost" I'll have to stick with Caps Lock to select next teammate and LShift for Speed Boost, as I don't really like the solution of binding a specific key to teammate #. That seems like more work than just scrolling through teammates with the next function.

Other than solo, when wouldn't a team be upset that someone is flinging foes all over. Clumping is generally preferred, no? (2) Is Vengeance that useful? Seems rarely valuable, would something else more consistently valuable be better? (3) I see Mace Mastery a lot of Kin builds. Is that because it's the only Def toggle (not Res)? And I should prioritize soft capping my Def, right? (4) Is Siphon Power + Fulcrum Shift redundant, or helpful? Seems like 50/50, half take both and half say don't bother. Personally, it's a super clicky build, so less powers the better... (5) Is Rune of Protection something you would drop on auto, firing it when its up for routine Res, or just use for Boss fights, etc? (6) No one seems to take Aim on any of the X/Kin sets. Why not? Coming from a Stalker, Aim/BU is the shit. Does it not bring the same value to a Corruptor, especially since our big dmg via Scourge comes at the closing attacks, not the opening attacks? Or is it because Tactics already adds ToHit? (7) Does Stealth add value for the speed runs? Right now I use Super Speed which helps a bit, I just read someone recommended putting a Stealth IO in Sprint, so both on adds enough. Is that helpful or unnecessary for not dying running around speed TFs? (8) Right now my single biggest weakness is Mez protection. I'm popping BFs like Skittles these days. Which powers are helping to mitigate this? I'll take these one at a time, you may find you like things differently, but this is how I like to play kinetics after hours and hours of play and testing. 1) The slotting in repel is very important. The kb to kd IO makes it so everything just falls down around you and the FF recharge proc makes it so that you get a huge boost to recharge when you are surrounded by mobs. The endurance cost is heavy, but we have transference and/or we use ageless so we don't care about that. 2) Vengeance is not that useful as a power itself, but it is always worth 7.5% recharge as an LOTG mule. This is good value from a slotting perspective. It is also funny to use vengeance as a bit of an insult because when someone dies I use it and say [vengeance] in team chat. Vengeance doesn't actually provide any benefit to a fire/kin, you are at maxed dmg, softcapped def, and your acc is capped to +3s (+4s with alpha). It's really only there for the extra 7.5% recharge and to boost the other people in the team because in a team where someone actually dies the defense is probably going to do a lot of good for your team members. 3) We prioritize defense first because it is easier to get to the softcap and it provides more mitigation at the softcap compared to resistance. We only take 5% of all damage targeted at us at the defense softcap, but we would take 25% of all damage at the resistance cap. Ideally, you want both. Scorpion shield from mace mastery is good because it provides defense to s/l/e and those are the most common damage types. It will always be safer to get positional defense instead of typed defense though for general gameplay. There are multiple fire/kin builds in this thread and some are positionally softcapped to R/M defense, while using a resist shield to boost our overall damage mitigation. The problem with this approach is that it leaves us susceptiple to being mez (granted only 5% of those mezzes will hit us, but being mezzed will still suck when it happens and might end with us on the ground), in the current version of build I use rune of protection to give mez protection and also some considerable resistance, but its uptime is only around 50-70% of time. I have found this to be an acceptable trade-off, especially as it allows me to use ageless instead of clarion. 4) For 95% of all content, yes SP+FS is redundant. FS alone should easily be able to take you to the damage cap. SP is only useful if you plan to fight a lot of AVs, otherwise just stick with FS. 5) This really depends on the mobs you are fighting. If you are fighting a lot of mezzers then I just try to keep it up as much I can or switch to clarion. If you are fighting mobs that only mez occasionally and you aren't taking too much dmg from hits, then just use it like a break free. 6) Aim/Build up does very little for a slotted fire/kin, your damage is capped through fulcrum shift and you should be at the acc cap as well. This means that you only would take aim/build up for slotting purposes and sense you can slot tactics with the same IOs, tactics is the superior choice in this case. Its best to think of scourge as nice bonus damage when it happens and not build around it. The only time you would consider it is in choosing powers, where you would go for a lot of rain powers to maximize scourge (ice/storm etc.). However, I have found that straight up front-loaded damage is more effective 95% of the time (inferno is beautiful). 7) I take stealth a lot because it allows me to afk follow a brute with FS on auto without needing SS on. I keep the brute targeted which allows FS to target through the brute. I think you are already at the stealth cap with just SS and a sprint IO, but I'm not 100% on that. 8) Rune of Protection and clarion are the only ways we really have to mitigate mez. Doc Ranger
So in an attempt to make a less expensive version of this build I came up with this. The numbers are close with some deficiencies here and there. But if you want to save $350 Million or so influence then this is pretty close and as you acquire some more cash then I'd say build towards Darkir's final. But I made this as a transition build for us poorer people 😉 Villain Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.7.2.10https://github.com/Crytilis/mids-reborn-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! |-------------------------------------------------------------------| I see yes and I hear you, though, extra defense actually does come in handy in certain situations. No matter. I did reference your build and used repel with +recharge proc. Currently getting PLENTY of recharge, especially running ageless it's nearly capped most of the time. I've never been one to go all out on the min/maxing thing... A good build is well, good! I still have my preferences for getting around and play feel. Thanks for your shares! I came to the forums looking for a solid build to help me decide on a "main" that will take me all the way to end game without becoming obsolete at one point or another (or be prohibitively expensive for a 'new' player). The only questions I had was how this build scales while leveling, and is there a efficient way for me to fit flight into the build (temporarily for badge hunting, etc.) -- I can see you already answered both of those questions so I would just like to thank you for sharing your builds, knowledge, and insight. Thank you!
honoroit
Maybe some will have an incling to this. The thirst and scratching search, it's ceaseless yearning. To be in madness, all of the time. To know you are a hungry ghost. I can't have karna, but at least there's fire/kin. The rest is rubbish, meandering and slow!

You can get to the defense cap without the alpha if that is what you want, but these builds are 50 builds and so they min/max everything I can at 50. You lose a ton of recharge by going for the softcap without the alpha, but it can be done. In terms of accolades, I'm only using the +hp +end ones that are always on, the build still works and functions the same without them, you just need to heal and use transference more. After giving it some thought, I understand that the build doesn't need Musculature, and a recharge Alpha would affect proc chances. Optimally I would say Nerve would be best, since it lessens the need to slot for accuracy a bit, and also gives defense. That would make it easier to slot for procs, which would push damage further than the damage cap. My build does not need the extra accuracy though and you would lose recharge in your powers that allow things to be a lot more fluid. If you go nerve, you can change the acc invention IOs for recharge IOs in fulcrum shift and siphon speed getting you an extra 1 second sooner usage. Hasten is also no longer perma without the FF proc or the ageless (not really a problem until you are facing a single target), so you need to put an extra slot here for another recharge IO if you want perma hasten against one target when exemplaring. The difference in proc rates for blazing bolt and blaze are as follows: Blazing bolt with nerve 58.9% chance to proc a 3.5 ppm proc Blaze with nerve 50.03% chance to proc the superior ATO 5 ppm proc Blazing bolt with agility 49.65% chance to proc a 3.5 ppm proc Blaze with agility 45.61% chance to proc the superior ATO 5 ppm proc with nerve blaze recharge in 2.5 seconds with 2 siphon speeds and blazing bolt recharges in 3.5 seconds. The proc chances in inferno stay at the cap regardless of the alpha. Overall I prefer agility for the extra slots it allows me to use, a bit extra endurance to decrease the amount of times I need to transference, the tighter attack chains, and the extra few seconds it shaves of inferno and rune of protection. The above proc chances are only for my current slotting and yes, you can absolutely get higher chances with a different proc focused build, but you lose out on set bonuses that a kin desperately needs for defenses. Using the nerve alpha is absolutely a valid choice, but I'd make a new build that built around it. Focusing on procs while maintaining softcaps and good resistances is very very difficult for a kin build to do and may be impossible. If you can manage to do it, please show me the build as I would be very interested. I should also note that my build is focused on general all around content, made for everything in general, both soloing (missions not TFs) and teaming. When I soloed the ITF at +4x8 without temp powers or any store bought powers (no envenom daggers), I had to completely redo the build in order to do enough ST dmg to the AVs to take them down (I couldn't just use extra mobs as fulcrum fodder because the added hits were enough to take me down on top of the AVs dmg). Underfyre
Little known secret to people that don't frequent the Sentinel boards. I also have a Corruptor spreadsheet that's about 90% done. So while your proc chance estimations for Nerve are off, I can confirm that using Agility over Nerve yields a damage increase using your builds numbers. Well played sir. You could swap in Flares over Fire Blast. Maybe that's just there for gapless rotation? My numbers show no gap with Flares. I think it's just a universal constant across every AT that Fire Blast is sub-optimal in comparison to Flares. Yes, I think I talk about this choice somewhere in here. Essentially it boils down to the fact that I use fire blast mostly to finish off a low and running mob, times when I have a very high chance to scourge. Very often, if I have/use flares in these cases, I scourge, but it still isn't quite enough dmg to finish the mob entirely, thus I need to use another power to fully finish them off, whereas if I have/use fireblast, I also scourge, and the mob dies. This is why I use fireblast over flares. In a case of me dpsing down an AV or GM, yes, it is more dps to use flares (ITF build took it) for the ST chain, but in cases where I am killing minions/lieutenants/bosses I find that fire blast finishes them with a scourge when flares would not. Feel free to try both as it changes the build very little, but I take fire blast because I hate needing to use that one extra attack to kill a running/low mob. Also, because I am also super busy with healing myself, buffing myself+lowering mob dmg, and siphoning speed, I don't just sit there and use the ST chain. More often I do something like blazing bolt>blaze>fireball>a kin power and throw in a fireblast/flares/inferno/RoF where applicable.

Its crap, don't use it after the changes drop. I'll post a different build when I figure out which direction I think is best. *grumbles to himself* power with just 50% uptime with good recharge being nerfed into the ground, even though it takes a 3 power choice investment, two of which I never use, *grumble* ridiculous *grumble* let's all just take maneuvers, CJ, hasten, and weave and never customize *grumble* overperforming power my ass *grumble* melee ATs running around with better survivability and mez protection at all times *grumble* wtf are the devs thinking *grumble* why even ask for feedback if they don't listen to the community *grumble* corrs already in a difficult position finding a place in the game *grumble* 3
DeepSky
I use this build for a highly played charrie. I can't/won't leave Sorcery entirely for thematics so its either suck a bit more or have multiple Builds. And yeah pointless nerfing like this is super worrisome as is the hyper fixation on '1/3rd it must be cuz math n symmetry yo' which just feels awful comparatively. Ohhhh weeell...
