Flash's Showoff Thread

For the less businesslike aspects of my art... figured a second thread would be worthwhile for posting recent work including stuff I do just for fun of my own characters. Also I'll throw in some that isn't recent either but I just... like it

I love the little details like the pet with the heart speech bubble.

Also the GUYS HALP! HOW DO I WARSHADE made me legitimately laugh out loud.

Right!?! You're just expected to transform and know how to work that alien junk?

Said so in the other thread too that is a sweet color job on Dalantia in SAI.

😆

I wasn't even necessarily thinking the Ball of Light would be a pet - they'll heal you even when they con hostile, in fact. And thanks, I'm glad my experience with the Warshade AT has amused!

anyway I did another picture for Dalantia... also here's a couple more that I didn't put up yet but were lying around in my imgur

It got me too hahaha.

But gratz on the tattoo commish! It looks great! 😮 When you get a picture of it having been tattooed, share, will you? (if it's in a decent place that is.... O.o)

I too had a request to make a tattoo... but the topic, a skull with geometric shapes, is not quite my cub of tea O.o
If anyone wants a crack at that, go right ahead lol.
People tend to commission me for stuff I never drew before... *ponders* I wonder why that is...

If I had to guess it's because your track record shows that you have range and

can draw a variety of things in a variety of different styles. So they think something like

"If she's good at all those other things she would probably be good at the thing I want done too!"

In my experience it's a good bet to make. zb7XgP0P_o.png

That is why I use my own smiley's... + their's are not orange enough. 07K1tHnz_o.png

@Flashtoo If you want to get rid of it you hover over it and it makes a circle with an inverted cross-hairs symbol

appear above the smiley, click that symbol and then hit delete or backspace as appropriate. Cheers!

I'm not sure.  I've never tried removing one on a phone, perhaps there

is a different process for mobile, glad you were able to remove it though.

No, healix, thank YOU (and everyone else who's posted here). You have no idea how much it means to me, seeing actual written responses. Lately I feel a lot like everything I do amounts to just screaming into the void, and every time I see words regarding something I've created, that feeling gets pushed back a little bit, for a little while, enough for me to feel like my life has actual meaning.

Thanks for posting your draw this again Flashtoo, I love seeing the

progression of other artists over time. I like all the subtle

improvements (especially to the face and robe).

As for wanting comments over likes I said a very similar thing

a few days back in my thread, I know what you mean.

I tried to speedpaint a quick concept of the Hour Thief during his Hero Brigade days but uh

...I ended up spending all day on it instead >_<

Good on paint, not so much on speed!

I love the atmosphere you get into your art! Sort of hazy in places, really nice. 🙂

Your Hour Thief reminds me a bit of the first cover art of one of Lois McMaster Bujold's books on Miles Vorkosigan...only better.

I love the drawing of the ..slug? underwater...the water is just perfect.

thanks! :3

I don't know anything about those books, heh. The intent was "ok what might a variant costume for him look like with a 1940s military spin but keeping the same sense of style" and my thought on the result was that he ended up looking very Blackhawk, which I find perfectly appropriate!

As for the sea snail, that's a tabletop rpg character - I'm actually quite proud, the art ended up being used (with permission) in the second sourcebook for the Cerulean Seas campaign setting 😄

Cool on the art in the campaign!

If you like to read...and I suspect you do!...you would want to check out McMaster Bujold's books.  She has written both fantasy and sci-fi, and the book I referred to is sci-fi. Her books are extremely well written (she can put more layers of meaning into one concise sentence than anyone I've seen), her characters are intriguing, complex, and also very well written, and overall, I just love her books. The portrait of Hour Thief reminded me of Miles Vorkosigan not so much in the uniform, altho Miles would also be wearing a uniform, but in attitude. Miles is one of my all time favorite characters.  He's the only son of a high ranking noble family, but he was born with very brittle bones that have caused stunted growth and deformities on a planet where physical perfection is the only acceptable option, for reasons she covers but I won't go into here. This puts him in the position of having a lot to prove..to himself, perhaps, but definitely to the world he lives in. Fortunately, he's also brilliant, which is how he manages the situations he finds himself in. The book with the cover (now has a different cover, but that's good, because overall, the artist apparently hadn't read the book...) is the first book I read of the series, and it's where I recommend you start, if you wish to read: The Warrior's Apprentice. She is very adept at drama, but often adds in subtle humor that has frequently made me laugh out loud.

Ah, man, now I want to go on a tangent of books I've loved... 🙂 but I won't.

Do you have a link to your book? Is it COH related, or not really related?

@Dacy- I will have to take a look at those books, they sound interesting!

The books that the Hour Thief is in are actually not mine but my partner @Tinhead's. There are two, the first being The Interminables and the second being Immortal Architects - I believe they can be bought directly from the publisher's site. They are not set in CoH canon, but they do have their roots there and I believe that shows somewhat 🙂

@Dacy I feel like someone mentioned that like 20 days ago, it's probably

just that guy that goes around promoting everyone else's stuff though.  rs4wmRnk_o.gif

@Flashtoo If you were not aware you can buy them right from Amazon as well.

Are Tinhead and Paige the same person?

Yes, CR, I asked because you mentioned it. 🙂

Another author that is just amazing is Carol Berg; I haven't read anything of hers yet that I was able to put down, and she's the master of the plot twist. Fantasy.
