Multiple Auras

Razor Cure

While we're looking at costumer creator revamps, could we maybe also consider Head Detail 1 and 2 getting an option similar to the asymmetrical gloves and boots but instead of splitting things in half by sides, just give us the option to have 2 whole pieces from Detail 1 and Detail 2?  I mean, I have winter themed ice blaster with ear muffs, but that means I cannot equip sun glasses or goggles for going skiing on the slopes (and where ever else ice appears) without losing the ear muffs.

  • Cybernetic eyes?  No demon horns for you.
  • Mustache?  No cigar.
  • Bubble Helmet?  You must be clean-shaven.
  • Retro-SciFi antennae thing?  Definitely no goggles.

Also, I'm really stoked about the idea of more auras and a greater diversity in the color palette.

Will it have a 'favorites' list so once you have a color you like, you don't have to select it again?
I would also be great to have a translucency setting, for ghostly characters and custom AE mobs.

Having a personalized swatch of custom colors, or (something that has the last 10 colors you've picked) would be sooooo awesome!!!

The translucency thing though; as I understand it currently the transparency-opacity of any given power/aura has to do with each power's individual FX particles/textures. For some, the darker a color is, the closer it is to 0 0 0 black, the less visible the FX particles will be, for others (let alone Dark versions of powers) this does not hold as true, but the appearance is still affected by the brightness of a given color value. So trying to add a transparency/alpha option would require extra shenanigans that might look like redoing every particle from the ground up.

Please. This would be awesome.
(Since path auras and regular auras are already able to be mixed simultaneously, I am meaning more than one body/hands/eyes/head/etc. aura)

it can be done. one of the competing servers allows different auras attached to different costume piece slots. ie. one aura for gloves, another for feet. at least that's how I remember it. haven't been on that server in a very long time

I’d like to see more people rocking the 2nd auras we already have: prismatic aether effects.

Yeah... some of us are disinclined to farm enough PAPs to be able to buy those. At 250 apiece, duo'ing 1-star Hard Mode TFs at 2 PAPs a run (especially for soloists who's friends can only play a few times a week for an hour each time), that's a lot of runs (125) to get. And at 3.5M inf' (current rate on AH) for each? That's 875,000,000 inf' per aura.

Edited to add "(especially for soloists...)". And again to add "(125)".

I don’t believe that influence cost is insurmountable. That’s no more than a typical fully IO’d fully +5’d build. And I lose track of how many players claim to have billions sitting around in email.

God forbid anything require a little work in this game, though…

Yeah... I'm not one of them. More power to them. Buy as many PAP costumes/auras you want. No skin off my back. Not everyone in the game is a multi-billionaire though.

And it usually takes me a few months to get to that point on any given character. (Edit: +5'ed?)

I'm not saying the PAPs should be more common drops or the costumes/auras you can buy with them should be cheaper. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't hold your breath over seeing those costumes/auras becoming common use.

Ooooo...would love this!  As I use Glow Aura Eyes as a way to do solid color orb for eyes.  This would allow me to get some other aura on top of that for a couple of concepts I would've loved to have had to combine with just a Glow Aura Eye option 🙂

I'd have settled for Eyes Permanent and Hands in combat option too!

Hm.. my apologies if i 'used necromancy' on this thread here, but this has definitely caught my attention ^^ and reading from the start of the thread, i see it.. being possible?
has there been anything new on this?  i would love to have just one more passive aura for the character customization.

..and on a similar topic.. i don't remember if the 'reptilian' head texture always had dark eyes.. they would certainly benefit from regular white ones, or yellow or gold.. but i digress 😛

i'm not sure where to even get those oO

Costume Aura:  In the Character/Costume Creator, select the Auras button.

Path Aura: In the Character/Costume Creator, select the Auras button, then select the Path Auras button under it.

Prismatic Aura: Gather 250 Prismatic Aethers, either via random drops or buy them from the AH. Go to Benevolabs, go to the Tier 3 Premium Costumes, and buy an aura.

Toggles: Available mostly from armor sets.

hm.. after some searching online and seeing the premium costumes, i can't say that they would fit my character. but that now goes into just my preference, layering another costume aura over in the customization menu
besides, i don't think i would be collecting those 'Aethers' any time soon 🤣

You are guaranteed 2 Prismatic Aethers for completing any 1-star Hard Mode/Advanced Mode TF or SF. More for completing higher difficulty ones. Also, last I checked, they can be bought from the AH for 3,000,000 inf' each. And they randomly drop, albeit very rarely, from enemies defeated in all content.

I hear you though. It's not something I'm actively pursuing either since the only guaranteed way of getting them requires I do things I don't have the time to do. They do have 3 badges for them though. One for buying 10 costumes from Benevolabs, one for buying 100 costumes from Benevolabs, and another that simply costs 50 Prismatic Aethers from Benevolabs. Though I get why things like the auras are tier 3 Premium Costumes and cost 250 Prismatic Aethers, I also think that was the dumbest thing in the world to do after taking even the Vanguard costume pieces out from behind their merit wall so players can make whatever characters they have in mind. So after making everything available to players without level requirements or merit purchases, now they add costume pieces, auras rather, that are hidden behind a merit barrier. Makes perfect sense. To someone not me.

i'm not familiar with what player experience Homecoming is supposed to provide, but me as a game modder, is aware that setting it all up is sometimes a thankless job xD; i would be happy to chip in if i could, for a second aura

With the new single eye aura options it would be great to have more than one aura so you could pick a different one for each eye and maybe even a third option for something else like hands or body or whatever. Or two different hand auras plus more.  So many aura combinations would be really cool if they could be used independently with other aura effects.  It looks like there's possibility of adding a lot of auras, so maybe a good way to go would be add one aura slot for each area of the body that an aura exists for and you can select something for each area or nothing at all.

hm.. one thing i don't know is how auras are set up. some feel like they're a second suit layer, others like particles attached to some points on the character, while some feel like they're entire animated models, like the atom-like one i'm after xD

Most of them have options to choose from, depending on which aura you might have some options limited while others have most areas available and can even select right or left or both hands
