  1. *pulls out playerslot.txt* Let's see... Main Account 66 (Feels high, but that's how many rows I've got) Secondary 8
  2. I'm trying to poke a beta member to go find his drives for mods. :p
  3. Yeah, I'd held onto images and other things for a long time, 'retired' most of it, and like a year later, hear comes the Score rumors.
  4. The poor, hardly ever used soul in my group of devices. It has been upgraded with a custom 1 Ghz CPU, 2 Gb RAM, I believe the GPU has been upgraded as well, a USB 2.0 card was added, and an ATA133 card was added as well. It still has several ATA drives installed, but I may retire those in lieu of an SSD (or both). It's currently setup to Dual boot OS 9.2.2 and MacOS 10.5 Leopard (the most it'll handle). I really should sell it, but IDK, they'd Have to be local 'cause shipping is stupid. Note: The images are reference only
  5. A new addition to my list of rigs that's getting more use because of work. Using it mostly for work and anything I can try to run on it natively or in Parallels.
  6. I figured this would be safe here as "PC" stands for "Personal Computer", not (just) "Windows Computer" Why not have a place here where we can talk about Virtual Systems now that they've become more common, right? Here's what I've got going: (Most to least used) Host 1: Host 2: Host 3: As you can expect, I have a knack for pushing each platform, but at the same time, I'm learning more about the world of VMs as I go.
  7. Mule alt perhaps? Log in with a second account to hold things you're moving around in bulk.
  8. I've only seen to Ep5, but...
  9. This is likely something to be created about the time that they've cracked the game code to the point that they can create their own Character Creator and modify the core databases without breaking things. So...not IMPOSSIBLE, but quite a bit down the road with current resources.
  10. Following up with a few things: Game runs fine on Big Sur natively on Intel Macs with the little testing I've done Game runs fine on an M1 Mac as well, see the corresponding Guide for the quirks of the installation you'll want to know about When trying to copy/paste while in the Launcher's settings, use the standard Windows key combos, not the MacOS translated key combos IE: To copy you have to use Control+C not Command+C
  11. Not that This approach ever works for me in general, but a good path apparently. You might have been able to remove the existing install and put it back, but we don't know the nature of the corruption really. +1 for having it solved though!
  12. You'd think I'd have this memorized by now. >.<
  13. Best idea would be to reinstall the x86 and x64 versions of these: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0
  14. I don't think I've ever used the old version either, but if it helps, it loads and I can click through things fine in Opera and Safari.
  15. I just tested this using the new launcher and while it didn't create the file initially, it did create it once I moved an alt. I then copied the original file back while in the server list and confirmed the changes took effect when I chose a server (back to my original order). I'd check it again on your side. Personally, not moving them often, I keep a backup of all the TXT files for the game.
  16. Just to be clear, you're saying the file is located in: ~/Homecoming/accounts/accountname/playerslot.txt right?
  17. For those losing things, try this app: https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva
  18. I completely agree that the whole point is Not to encourage unnecessary spending, but to instead know your options. Hell, I'd much rather aim you at a budget PC at that point as you'd get more use TBH unless (like mentioned above) the issue was you were getting an M1 already.
  19. I'd suggest trying the previous drivers and seeing if the issue "fixes" itself. Hopefully NVidia doesn't break things on us, but it's not like you can't stay on a certain driver (unless it causes other system/app issues).
  20. +1 for noticing the bug as there are some like me that probably never payed attention enough to it (or played on mute) to know it Was bugged. I'd post in the Bug forum though if you haven't already. As for your other bit, I'd suggest a couple things (and making a post for them in the right clubs): For the Devs If possible, create a new option, perhaps attached to the Map as a popup, where we basically get a "Radio Station" style menu that allows the user to dynamically select music at the Zone/Neighborhood level for play anywhere For the Modders Create a mod that allows the user to fully customize the zone music selections The mod would need to retain an original copy of the "master tracks" for resetting zones Perhaps include a playlist style option for those who may want to load different music for different Alts Furthermore, perhaps as a separate mod, include the option to take a user's offline music library and incorporate it into the above mod request I remember Loading the "Best of 007" soundtrack onto my original Xbox and then playing that futuristic racing game. The adrenaline was epic!
  21. That's certainly a 100% ideal setup for sure as you (now-obvious to me) know. Just covering the basics as the userbase is quite varied. We've seen some rather odd behavior during the time of Post-Live and personally I've run into things that "shouldn't have a remote chance at happening", but have certainly done "the thing" in front of my eyes helping clients.
  22. What is the actual file path you're using for the installation? That sounds like your files are in a protected folder in Windows 10.
  23. Very good points, but I'd like to throw some personal experience in here Yeah, games aged and platforms change, so expectations should be realistic, but... I have apps apps and games that I've been using since the Release of Windows 3.11 that Still run (albeit begrudgingly) on Windows 10. That's a slightly different beast with Apple as they've flipped platforms drastically two (?) times now and those are the times when pain is felt the most, but there's always been a solution until now. As for the Mac side of long term compatibility, besides testing this and stuff for work, (because I could) I retested the compatibility of the GoG versions of The Journeyman Project Trilogy. I bring this up because because I'd played the game back in the mid 90s (first game is from 93 I think) and had been active in Tommy Yune's Journeyman Project forums. He looked me (and probably others) up somewhere between 5-10 yrs ago (?) to ask if I'd "smoke test" the remake of the first game for Linux/MacOS/Windows as they were secretly planning a rerelease to work on more modern platforms. I think it was about a month or so of testing later and we had viable ISOs that were sold physically and eventually on platforms like GoG (my preferences for PC because I hate DRM). Note: This was Volunteer work, but I did get a signed copy. Why'd I bring that up? Because I managed to get that up and running on my M1 with probably nothing other than Rosetta 2 being installed. I didn't have to tweak anything or do any funky process. Now the older games I had to run within my Parllels/Win10 ARM environment as I didn't feel like finding the MacOS ISOs, but they worked mostly right. Pretty good for something built for 16 bit Windows using Quicktime too boot. Mind you, these likely had a wrapper of sorts to support x64 when on Win10, but ARM felt like a gamble and it was cool to see it pay off. The big caveat to this argument is that unless you intentionally buy an Intel Mac (assuming you need to get a Mac for reasons). Not to long from now (if not already), Apple will stop producing Intel Macs, period and anyone buying a Mac won't have a choice if their needs require modern/current equipment. Granted, we don't Know how long this game will last either. Especially being a "work of love" as it is, so the reality is that we're already on borrowed time and I'd expect most understand that.
  24. Probably not, but try this and if it doesn't work submit a ticket. Some odd thing that seems to happen is that character arrangement can get screwed up for some reason, but the GOOD thing is, that's stored ON the local computer in a Very easy to see place. A single file (per account) that contains the last arrangement of every character for that account. Firstly, here's your reference point for finding said file: What you're looking for is this: Find that file and open it up in a basic text editor like Notepad for Windows or TextEdit for MacOS. I wouldn't trust things like Wordpad or say Microsoft Word because of the Off Chance they add invisible characters to the file. Find the name of the character you're looking for (hopefully you know it or it'll be harder) The file is sorted by server (last one played) and then by character-ish Note what server that character is on Delete the Whole Line where your character is, save the file, close the file Don't stress, nothing will break!!! When you next load the game, that character will now be located in the first available empty slot on that server list Tip: You can see this in Real Time by backing out of the character list to the server list, making a change in the file (saving and closing it first!), then going back into the character list for that server Checkout this thread for more on the topic:
