  1. And yet, i still hear people say "There's not enough content" from time to time, because they yearn for progression raiding / loot competition from other games. Humans are odd.

  3. I played WoW from the start of Burning Crusade until the end of Draenor. I get nostaligic for it, and some of the camraderie of a good raiding guild sometimes. But Never Again. Ever. WoW started to consume my life. It's one reason I will not join any SG in CoH, ever. I pug and that's that. I get twitchy if I even start to have a "regular" crowd of pugs, and I don't accept global friend invites. I play on my schedule, only, and if I take a 4 month break from the CoH, I am not answerable to anybody.
  4. Real Life has Amazing graphics, and the world just goes on forever. Attention to detail is stellar. The GM's are really non-responsive, though.
  5. Heck, I used to use Spirit Tree even before the patch. It was good passive regen anytime I solo'd, and with Permadom I could easily have two of them running at once.
  6. Very doable to turn your back on softcapping defense. Most of the time, 30% defense or so is fine, and you pop a Luck inspiration if you need to kick it up a notch. Also, if you are teaming, a lot of teams will have an Empath or a Bubbler, or a Ice Corruptor, etc. And certain if incarnates are in play, someone will pop a Barrier.
  7. Even if they added the appearance to another set, vs creating a new set, either way, don't care, but new options are good. I will say though, that personally, I really want to see another Mastermind Primary before any more melee. Melee already has over twenty sets. Masterminds have seven sets. A little love for MM's is seriously overdue.

But I'm going to at least take the man at face value there. Now, I do wonder if @Rudra is onto something, and his SO's are outdated and providing him with no more benefit at all. Without an actual screenshot, that's simply unknown, this way or that. But enhancements doing nothing for you, does feel, on Willpower, with Stamina and Quick Recovery slotted with SO's, the only way this can happen, is if his enhancements went obsolete on him, OR, if the man is constantly facing off against Freakshow Super-Stunners, or Sappers, or a bunch of Mu Mystics, or other mobs that drain the HECK out of your End.
  9. I mostly agree. But if you take everything from your primary and secondary that leaves you a whopping 6 powers from other pools, including epic/patron pool. I do think all powers should be at least semi-viable, but, players will always find a few that are only "meh" to skip and squeeze in more pool powers that they want. Be that medicine, leadership toggles, fighting, sorcery, what-have-you.

  11. Lol. Deep Sleep is Amazing. Five Thumbs up, even if I have dragoon others into it. For you, the good(?) news, is not every Sleep power got Deep Sleep. The Focused Feedback post itemizes them. Everything else has old sleep. Now, these are not going to be AV killers. They'll still park an AV in one application, just like an Immob. But any damage will awaken that AV immediately. Still. Mind Control is firmly boosted, a LOT. Mesmerize is essentially a second single target hold for most enemies, and Mass Hypnosis esp slotted for sleep, will lock down a spawn long enough for a team to burn them down. Spore Burst in plant is now clutch, as well. I am extremely happy with these changes.
  12. I completely respect your right to that opinion. I just also completely disagree with it. I find nothing immersion breaking about people who are just starting their hero careers needing to pause and use Rest. Heck, watch the Netflix Daredevil 2015 series, see how often Murdock limps back to Claire to get patched up. And he's only fighitng a few groups of people per night, he's not clearing 30 separate spawns on the same map, over and over again. I feel like you demand Superman / Thor levels of performance from your character immediately out of the gate, without any time to develop, and I think that's your biggest problem. But I am willing to agree to disagree.
  13. I would argue that's exactly what slotting up Stamina / putting End Reducers in your attacks, is. And then there's the harder-core investing like a Panacea proc, Perf Shifter proc, etc. But also, there's the angle other posters have occasionally had to remind me of. This is a Multiplayer game. No matter how much some folks like to solo. Certain support sets are very very good at plugging the endurance bar. Electrical Affinity and Radiation Emission immediately jump to mind for the early game, and Kinetics and Empathy are great for mid-game and onward. When all else fails, teaming is often the answer.
  14. as @tidge and others said, it is a definite learning curve. It is not fun when you're just used to it. But it's a second damage meter. Over time you get good at managing it. And occasionally, you will face enemies who specalize in hurting your endurance. They're "fun", too. One recommendation. Make sure every single attack power has at least one Endurance Reduction SO in it. Attacks bleed a lot more endurance over the course of a fight than all your toggles combined. Try to put a second slot in Stamina by lvl 14. A third by lvl 22. Eventually, as Influence / Infamy pile up, there will be some unique IO's that can really help. They're not required. You can get by without them. But they help. Also, I am a huge fan on a few IO sets that contain a "X% endurance reduction cost for all powers". It's not always the easiest to squeeze in, but it's really helpful. Good luck.
  15. This is excellent. This can be sorcery, this can be quantum manipulations of probability, this can be Maximoff or Domino, this can be someone who is a Walking Talking Luck Charm. (There was a 90's TV show called "Strange Luck" with a character "Chance Harper" that just everything insanely unlikely always happened around him. I seriously hope this gets traction. Maybe the devs tweak it a bit, but I would absolutely play this on at least one character, probably several.
  16. With Mind Control's T1, Mesmerize now doing Deep Sleep, it's darn near a Hold. I do recommend taking it.
  17. Personally, I dislike uses of terms like "Hexing" or "Cursing", unless the powerset would literally be restricted to characters of Magic Origin. I'm fine with additional Support Secondaries being proposed, be they Buffing/Healing/Debuffing/Other in nature. But I would want the powerset name, and the powers within that name, something that could plausibly belong to ANY of the Origins. Now, perhaps, the Origin Pools (Sorcery, Experimentation, Force of Will, etc) already invalidate my "keep everything Origin-Neutral" standpoint. You're certainly permitted to take Sorcery on a Technology character, even if I never do. And, Ok, powersets like "Necromancy" take some serrrrrious handwaving to justify as anything BUT Magic-based. So I dunno. Maybe ignore me.

  19. A few points people should keep in mind. Homecoming is non-profit, cannot ever be profitable. Therefore, what's popular or would draw more people, may or may not factor into the developer's decisions. They started Homecoming as a labor of love for a vision they had for the game, not necessarily to cater to the crowd. That vision is still probably their overriding focus. Because it's non-profit, they all have day jobs, as well as family and social obligations and wants, that also consume time. Changes to Homecoming are done in their free time, which they could be using to do things like play games that they like, or going to visit national parks, or play basketball, or any number of things that all of us enjoy doing in our downtime. I doubt they want to wake up, work, come home, work on homecoming nonstop until they go to bed, rinse and repeat. So, minimally, BE PATIENT. Now, the Homecoming devs are big boys and girls. They may still choose to undertake a project like this, just because they find the idea interesting, even if it might take them a long time to produce it. Or they might not. But I do feel confident in saying if they do choose to take on work as outlined above? They would not want to release it until they believed they had a genuine quality product, just out of programming pride. I don't think anyone is confused by the suggestion that has been put forth. We might individually like the idea, we might not. Maybe the devs will choose to act on it, maybe not. Perhaps we should just leave it at that.
  20. I mean, if you sign up for Hardcore, that is part of the package deal. Or at least, it was during the Diablo 2 Hardcore days. Lag or even server side glitch killed you all? Too bad, so sad, your characters stay dead and if everyone died, no one can recover any of your gear. Time to roll new characters. If people want to do a hardcore run, they need to accept that risk going into it. A list of "but it wasn't my fault" exceptions will only get abused and rationalized. Or at least, that's how I've always seen every version of "hardcore lite" end up. My $0.02 anyway.
  21. Per the General Discussion thread. I do remember really enjoying Diablo 2 Hardcore. That was INTENSE. A small group of friends and I used password-protected games to keep out the Player-Killers and griefers that could plague D2 Hardcore. We also tended to drop off good "starter kit" gear in Act 1 Rogue Camp for each other to nab if anyone could put it to use. If someone did die, it was all hands on deck to try to help them get their corpse back, and we'd occasionally send in very high levels to help bodyguard a newbie / help them powerlevel back up. There was some serious camraderie. So in principle, I'm sure it could be made to work in CoH. Would there be sufficient interest? Cannot say. I know for certain that several decades later, I have no interest in permadeath mode anymore. And I definitely would not envy the GM's who would inevitably need to field requests/demands to restore a dead character because "XYZ griefed us!" or "This or that happened and it was unfair!". Because you know plenty of people would submit tickets for that, again and again. I also would not want to be the Devs having to consider what content to introduce in one environment or the other, or trying to balance things around it. If I were them I'd probably say "you get what you get and if that means some content is flat impossible in hardcore, too bad for you, learn to stay away from it." But if that's a task they choose to take on, well, all power to you, and all power to those who are interested.
  22. A server-enforced permadeath would require more "skin in the game" from player than just a gentleman's agreement that they might or might not make good on. Especially if you have people just dipping their toes in, they might simply refuse to delete... even if some of their antics caused a team wipe. So I get where the OP is coming from. As I said, I'm not against the idea as such. I just would never partake, either.
  23. I mean, I definitely hold a lot of nostalgia for the Diablo 2 Hardcore days. I won't say it was fun looking at the "Your Deeds of Valor shall be long remembered" screen looking down at the body of my lvl 87 paladin. But it was a huge adrenalin rush playing hardcore mode. So I can sorta see the appeal. But while I do not oppose the idea in principle, if it were implemented, I can say for sure that I would never use it. Hardcore / Permadeath modes work best when the game is designed around it from Day 1. And when mobs you encounter and powerset builds are designed around it from Day 1. Trying to jury-rig it into an existing game feels like a lost cause. The Dev Team would to make a statement up front whether any content was / would ever be redesigned with the possibility of an official Permadeath mode in mind. The "lucky" GM's would then need to stick to that, even when scads of complaints come in that griefing occurred, or why something was "unfair" and people want their characters restored. It feels like a dog's dinner for the GM's to have to handle hardcore related complaints. But hey, if that's something they feel is beneficial, OK. I'll never participate, but OK.
  24. <Angry grandpa voice> Durn whippersnappers! Back in my day, we ran Doc Quarterfield without Mission Teleporters, or Base Teleporters! And we wiped left and right! And we liked it! We liked it right fine! Kidding aside. Why do you feel Synapse TF should be shortened? Building a comparison list between Synapse and several other TF's, listing out total number of missions, total number of kill-all missions, etc would probably build a better case for consideration.
  25. Honestly, much like pay phones, those nurse cap things are a serious anachronisms. I don't think I've seen them in real life since the 1980's. Scrubs and a no-nonsense attitudes are some of the biggest real life indicators. Maybe a scrunchie if they have long hair. That said, I am all in favor for more costume options. Even if some of them like the giant exposed brain, or the post-apocolyptic spikes in the head have me wondering Does anyone actually USE those?
