  1. .... with slurs. And you're actually proud of it. "Retarded" isn't really any better than racial slurs like any of these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_slurs ::sigh::
  2. It's the message I see being spread to them all the time, SRU.
  3. Because some questions cannot realistically be answered in /Help. For just one example: Mastermind pet-control Numeric Keybindings, for example. A hundred or two hundred lines of text, just to show ONE primary set's bindfiles, and properly explain how to use them. During which, NO OTHER QUESTIONS CAN BE ASKED OR ANSWERED, without risk of seriously confusing the person who needed that answer. /Help is for relatively simply questions with simple answers. Not for in-depth answers, nor for complex questions. For those things, the forum serves best. "Up to par." That's a funny phrase, really. You see, it doesn't have an objective valuation attached. Applying that phrase to, for example, a middle-school baseball team is going to imply some VERY different standards of performance than applying the exact same words to, say, the Yankees or the Red Sox. It is the same with characters here in CoX. For the crowd that insists on being able to solo everything at +4x8, "up to par" is going to set a very, very, very high bar. Exactly the right IO sets, slotted in exactly the right combinations, complimented by exactly the right Incarnate choices, or bust. For the more typical, mostly casual gamer ... not so much. Common IOs, or even just SOs (+0 or better), are going to be entirely sufficient for that. ... You don't need to have Major League skills, to have fun in the Minors - or, for that matter, to have fun on a Little League team. Or maybe just a random pick-up game of stickball with the other kids on the block.
  4. Eh. I liked the game in Wrath. Was okay in Mists and Cata (despite ongoing nerfs to Inscription's profitability). But Classic? As in, Vanilla? I played that, originally. Loved it, until my Dwarf Ranger hit level 21 or 22, in Loch Modan, and ..... solo-ability dried up, instantly. 😞 Left the game until about three weeks before Wrath dropped, in large part because of that.
  5. I never moved the installation, and nuking a half-terabyte partition from the middle of a 3TB drive with two OTHER partitions would be ... not something I'd be willing to do, without being very drunk first. And since I don't consume alcohol at all ... 😄 EDIT: I did, however, discover that the Screenshots folder had been created (by Tequila, not me) as "read-Only", so I'll give it a shot next time I log in. Thanks for suggesting that much, at least! 🙂
  6. Exactly this. My gaming comes in spells; right now, I'm on a "Space 4X" kick; a couple weeks of StarDrive 2, and now I've gotten back into Stellaris.
  7. ... IOW, you're trying to teach a fish to climb trees. First off, as the MM, you don't need much defense at all. AoE is what you should aim for, if anything, because Bodyguard is better than any amount of Defense, and AoE is Bodyguard's kryptonite. As for your pets, Increase Density gives S/L resistance, which will help against most targets. The rest of /Kinetics simultaneously debuffs the enemy, and buffs you/your pets/your team. Lots of -damage and -recharge in there.
  8. ^^^ This. It might be a fun archetype, but, it wouldn't be Sentinel.
  9. Just as an example, from the powers that Players can use: some AoEs are not targeted on any one enemy. They are targeted at a PLACE. Caltrops ... Rain of Fire ... Whirlpool ... powers like that. AoE Positional Defense helps against those. Ranged and Melee defense do not.
  10. As will I.
  11. Dude, have you read my signature, yet? 😄 😄 😄
  12. +1 I for one wouldn't use such an option, but since you've asked for it to be completely optional, I can definitely throw in a voice of support. 🙂
  13. Since GM Capocollo said "stop" in a tone that rather echoes of officialdom ... I have in fact carefully refrained from the vitriolic response I feel urged to make, myself. It's not easy, you understand. But I'm (barely) managing ...
  14. ... Mister Torgue? Is that you? :D
  15. PK, it's like, 99.9999% that the problem is due to Shazzie still using Win7. Mainstream support for Win7 ended over four years ago - that means it hasn't been getting updates as Unicode has changed and grown.
  16. Win7...? That's likely the problem. Unicode has evolved out from under you; I think Win7 was last compatible with Unicode 6 ... well, they're up to Unicode 10 now. The ones you're not seeing have obviously changed 'twixt then and now. Win10 has been just fine for me (for some five years, now), and if you jump that far ahead, you should be good for not upgrading for at least another four or five years. 🙂 Hopefully, anyway!
  17. One possibility is that you're missing the right unicode Font (that's how Emojis are handled, as b est I can tell). Another, is that your Chrome is not up to date (I actually JUST updated to version 76.0.3809.87 ...). And, as GM Capocollo just asked, what OS are you using (and how up to date is it) ...?
  18. LOL @ "Floor Inspectors Local 579" ... 😄
  19. This has already been explained to you as being impossible. It would require a ground-up rewrite of the game code, everywhere it interacts with Supergroups. That number is one per character for a damned good number of us. Nope. It'd still make some of those RP interactions effectively impossible. ... Dude, seriously. Just give it up, it's not happening the way you want it to. Ever.
  20. I pull my own status/health bar to the bottom, right at my character's feet. The Target pane goes down there, too. That way, in a big chaotic fight, I can have all the information I need right in a single small zone, right near my power trays. (Side note, my ex-g/f had sensory overload issues, especially with big fights on big teams; she tried this layout, and was able to keep going - tab to a new target, hit F, then start queueing up attacks - she played a scrapper.) Team or Pet roster goes between those, and the chat pane. Navigation stays top-center, it's already intuitive there. To the top right, I open a new detached Tab to monitor Global channels. Top left is for the Friends list. ... I've been having crash-to-desktop problems when trying to take screenshots, so I can't exactly SHOW it, but ...
  21. Don't summon the pet. If you did, and the mission isn't timed, wait it out. Trust me, Masterminds have been dealing with exactly that problem since Issue 6 - and to a MM, "pets are everything", so dismissing them to move around also gimps them for doing anything when they finally get where they're going.
  22. No it's not. It went free-to-play because subscription numbers dropped precipitously due to the Day One Patch of Doom(tm) and never recovered. I bought a Lifetime Subscription shortly before launch. I haven't logged in for mroe than fifteen minutes since six months after launch. That should tell you something right there. It is, at best, limping along on F2P life support.
  23. Not going to lie to you: I had almost that exact experience, playing my first controller - Gravity/Empathy - back on Live, during Issue 4. Nevermind that Empathy was the character's secondary, and not their primary reason to exist. Nevermind that this was IN THE BLOODY HOLLOWS, and at that point the ONLY Empathy power I'd picked up was the PBAoE heal. Dude justw anted me to set myself on /follow, set the heal on auto, and .... I dunno, go make myself a sandwich, or something? ... That put me off of Empathy, for any Archetype, for years. I didn't try another Empathy build until I had a group of people, in a SG, that I felt I could trust not to do that to me. (Medi-Lad, an Empathy / Archery Defender ... and the Official "Enema Arrow Test Subject" hehehe.)
  24. ... and that has nothing whatsoever to do with maintaining the code - that is to say, finding bugs, and changing the programming in order to fix them. Nor does it have even the most remotely tangential relation to adding new content to the game.
