  1. There's a way to deal with this, though, using /bind_load_file You set up a bunch of separate textfiles, each one with a different catchphrase related to the same power (say, "power1.txt", "power2.txt" "power3.txt", and so on). Each of those files includes just a single line: <key> "powexecname <power>$$bind_load_file <filename>$$local <phrase>" And, the first time you log in to the character, you manually type /bind_load_file <location:filename>". If that key is your "1" key on the main keyboard? You press "1", your basic attack fires off, a new bind is registered, the catchphrase is sent to /local. Every time. So if you've thought up, say, 4 or 5 things to say with that power? You won't be spamming the same corny line over and over and over. AND THERE'S MORE. You could pad those 4 or 5 out, by adding in files that omit any catchphrase at all. So, if we're talking about Fire Blast (set and power) ...? fireblast1.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast2.txt$$local Someone asked for a light?" fireblast2.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast3.txt" fireblast3.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast4.txt" fireblast4.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast5.txt$$local Did anyone bring marshmallows?" fireblast5.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast6.txt" fireblast6.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast7.txt" fireblast7.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast8.txt$$local Time to fight fire ... with FIRE!" fireblast8.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast9.txt" fireblast9.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast10.txt" fireblast10.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast11.txt$$local Do you smell someone burning?" fireblast11.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast12.txt" fireblast12.txt ... 1 "powexecname Fire Blast$$bind_load_file c:\binds\Fireman\fireblast1.txt" Every third time you used the power, one of the four catchphrases would be said. And never the same one, twice in a row.
  2. I default to the right more often than not, and the far elevator will be the first to come into sight on that side, so ... ((Edit: also, the far elevator means my pets will be dragged further into the elevator room before I click, when playing an MM ... less likely to have problems, that way.))
  3. WOW. I will definitely want to be using THAT one a lot!!
  4. I'll second the "swap the obviousness around" bit. 🙂
  5. You are falsely conflating one thread, with only fifteen respondents (and one GM), of which only about HALF are in support (in one fashion or another), with most people in teh game as a whole. Don't. No single thread - especially one with only a single page of posts - is ever going to be properly representative of the playerbase as a whole. There is, just to name one reason, typically a large portion of any MMO's playerbase who never even read the forums at all, let alone post replies there. Your "social needs" are easily and completely addressed by the use of an existing tool: Coalitions. Your social needs do not need to be further supported in a way that completely eliminatesp options for other people's differing social needs.
  6. Implementing 7 would require limiting what a SG base can contain. That would require restoring Prestige prices for all SG bases - including rent, but especially construction costs. That, in turn, would require wiping all existing SG bases out, entirely. THAT, then, would present SG bases with a lot of heavily-used storage to scramble to find a way to "hold on to" those stored things until the SG base could be rebuilt .... or face losing it all, when the base is deleted. ... And that? That last thing? Would really, really piss off a whole LOT of players.
  7. Might have been one of the Patron arcs ...?
  8. So, your mere convenience trumps anyone else's anything? How very magnanimous of you. That would completely defeat the point. Those were RP groups. Role-play. Not merely clumps of players existing for the convenience of finding a team.
  9. /JRanger Hell, /JRanger^2 ...! You completely ignored my point, that there are players who will NOT want all their characters on a given server, to be members of the same single Supergroup. Just one example: back on Live, on Virtue, had several alts in a supergroup called "The Young Paragons" - it was a light-RP group, themed on "teenaged supers". Simultaneously, the same group of people had a parallel Villain group, "The Wasted Youth", also on Virtue. For when we wanted to play redside. The group even staged a few "crossovers", especially in cooperative trials and zones. With HC SG/VG being Faction-agnostic (heroes and villains can be in the same group together), making membership be "per @global" would have made that impossible; no-one could have joined the VG without first quitting the SG, and vice versa. And without doing that .... how would the game know which group name to put over a particular character's head?
  10. Yes. He would. Planet Hulk ... and World War Hulk. Hulk was once king of the entire planet Sakaar ...
  11. Again, as GM Widower just mentioned, the problem is database limitations. SG rosters don't record membership by Global Handle, they record it on a per-character basis. And before you suggest changing that: not all of one player's characters on a particular server are necessarily going to want to be part of the same, specific, single SG.
  12. As long as the source is different powers/abilities, then it almost always will stack, yes - with the one caveat of there being caps, past which there's no additional effect. Also, usually the SAME power from two separate characters, will usually stack their effects. So, TWO guys with Chilling Embrace standing next to an enemy are going to really, really give that guy a bad day (assuming they don't resist any or most of the -recharge, of course ... AVs do tend to resist debuffs, a lot).
  13. If you do an XP boost, exclude AE from it entirely. The intent is to encourage people to play actual missions, in order to make teams easier to find/fill. Farmers don't run those missions, they only farm. What we want is to encourage people to run story arcs, Trials, TFs/SFs, and so on. ... In a similar light, the XP boost should extend to everyone, regardless of faction, when in a co-operative zone. Because people from the higher-pop side spending time there, means there's more opportunities for people on the LOWER-populated faction to find a team in those co-op zones. If there was a way, maybe give the bonus to high-pop people only if they are actively teamed with a low-pop faction character ...?
  14. Or if not remove it, maybe just "embiggen" it? And/or, maybe give players the option to archive messages - so they're still around to be re-read int eh future, but (somehow) take up less space in the database ...? Maybe can't be forwarded or replied to anymore would help with that?
  15. "New hazard zone", that'd be a good use for GC I think ...
  16. Well, if we go that way, let's not limit it only to MM secondaries. Do it to all the buffs. And maybe debuffs, in the opposite direction, to be fair (especially in PvP). 🙂
  17. Right, so let's keep the number of threads about "yayy" and "yuck" limited, shall we? I happen to like the new software - especially it's look - so I chose to start the "yayy" side of that. Post here if you want to give the devs a thumbs-up for choosing to stick with the new forum software.
  18. I will second the recommendation for rules as to size - number of lines; if images are allowed their dimensions (in pixels, on both axes) and whether or not animated images are allowed; size of font allowed (saying "only three lines" doesn't help if someone uses 72-point font instead of the usual 10- or 12-point font!); possibly limiting the use of colors for text (like, maybe, "no more than three" or similar) .... those sorts of things. 🙂
  19. No, there is no way to do what you ask for. Sorry. Your best bet is to find an unused key that is easily reached, and bind that to trigger your Active Defense power.
  20. I would take them to mean "I found this post inspiring (and my favorite color is _______)". 🙂
  21. In the lower right corner, there's a Heart icon for Reacting to a post. One of the options is "thanks", and it's got the same background as the Reputation field on our profile. I wonder if reputation comes from that. Let's try ... SRU has 3 rep now ... ... and after a Thanks from me, he has 4. 🙂
  22. Hey, I'm just trying to point out that you shouldn't be assuming all villains would be happy if the CoV side of the game had been limited to only PvP. Honestly, I'd've unsubscribed (and stopped giving NCSoft my money) a lot sooner without CoV; it was the Mastermind AT that kept me here for a couple more _years_.
  23. Well then, time to upload a larger version of the avatar I'm using now.
  24. You know, not all of us who play Villains - not even those of us who peferentially play Villains - have any desire whatsoever to engage in PvP. In fact, I personally find PvP to be the absolute polar opposite of fun, 99.9999999% of the time. I actively avoid PvP in almost every game I ever play. It makes me feel literally sick - nauseous and worse - after a very, very short while. Denying that dark side doesn't work for everyone. I, for one, need a safe outlet to let it out to go play - a way to purge myself of all the negative emotions and impulses I am constantly plagued with. (Just to be clear: most of them are also directed AT myself, not externally.) It's helpful for my mental health to let that dark side out to romp and play somewhere absolutely and completely safe: in a game. In make-believe. Where no-one really gets hurt ... especially, my own self.
  25. You know, I forgot about that angle, too. What, A, RIPOFF that entire powerset is, then. MMs who don't know any better - including longtime veteran MM players like me!! - getting sucked in, thinking their powerset will work to buff their minions, but really .... ::sigh:: ... Yeah, " lots of work" or not, I think changing that is something that needs to be looked at VERY closely, and maybe tested thoroughly over on Justin for a while.
