... that'd explain why my +1 is missing. 😄 I'd rather have our pets benefit from the MM's global +recharge (and other effects) that come from non-temporary sources. I don't know how possible or difficult this would be, but by appending those boosts to our Supremacy aura, so they work as an external buff to the pets. So if you have +20% global recharge from sets, autopowers, whatever? Your pets, when within Supremacy range, also have +20% global recharge. They will attack (and buff, and heal, and etc) that little bit faster .... just like if it were you, using those powers yourself.

Eh. My first ever character on Live was "Pax Arcana". I played him for maybe three hours, before abandoning the character (deleted it, even) for greener pastures (so ... many ... pastures ...!) Didn't really matter anymore, that my Global and my Character handles weren't the same. Indeed, coming here? I used my one-and-only to change my Global to ... you guessed it ... @PaxArcana. 'cause in CoX, that's just who I am. 🙂

Well, you can still add to it with BBCode (I did, above, just now). Just, I suppose if you want to change the spelling (etc) of a word you've italicised or whatever, you have to delete the whole word and type it, and the BBCode, all over again. A bit of an extra hoop to jump through, but overall not too bad IMO.

Well, it looks sleek, sure. Jury is still out on functionality. EDIT: another +1 in favor, there - you CAN still use BBC tags for bold, italic, etc, and the forum translates them properly when you post.

No-skill MMs were just as much an issue on Live as it is here. :'(

"/JRanger" is also a way of saying "No - and at present, I lack the energy and/or motivation to explain to you the myriad patently-obvious reasons why". And, of course, it is used as nothing more than a forum in-joke. Especially when the person (as did I) then goes on to explain, at least in brief, why they have offered that /JRanger.

Bring Back Galaxy City from release
PaxArcana replied to wjrasmussen's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
B;ackbird is right. 80% or 90% of new heroes went through AP, not GC. -
Seeing as I was the first person in this thread to bring up the codebase, please hold still while I hit you repeatedly with this large, half-frozen dead carp: *THWAKK* *THWAKK* *THWAKK* ... because, "code is evil magic" is no part of what I brought up. I brought up the simple, inescapable truth that in order to do this, you would have to have multiple versions of the in-game code. No, not just some art assets, but actual code - the hooks at Trams and the TUNNEL thingie, for example - to allow you to go to Galaxy City. You'd have to have difference in contacts, so that you could be introduced to a Galaxy City contact by an Atlas Park contact, for another example. Resulting in you now having two versions of the server code to maintain. And that's just for GC. To add back in ONE single zone. If you have five different possible changes, mix-and-match-able in all permutations? 2^5 versions of the codebase to maintain. (That's thirty-two, in case you're not good doing exponents in your head.) ... And what happens if, for example, the dev team updates how the Trains work? Double the versions means double the effort, and thus, double the time. That is why my response was, and is, and ever shall be: /JRanger

+1 I generally manually dismiss my pets before zoning, anyway. But still, not all MMs do, and you're right. Seeing the pets drop dead is a bit off-putting ...

I think people are completely misunderstanding (or maybe just forgetting) what "Paragon Studios" was and wasn't. They were not a separate company. They did not have the same "at arm's length" relationship with NCSoft that Cryptic did. PS was completely owned by NCSoft. It was .... well, look at Ubisoft. They have several separate studios all around the world - Ubisoft Montreal, and Ubisoft Berlin, and Ubisoft Toronto, and Ubisoft Bucharest, and Ubisoft Reflections (that one's in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England), and several more. Those aren't separate companies; they are all part of Ubisoft's global corporate "self". Paragon was to NC, in much the same way.

That's precisely WHY many people skip that first ability: Offensive Opportunity is kinda crap except against really, REALLY tough opponents. Like, stuff that's at least Red to you, or better, purple (AVs, GMs, EBs that're +2 or better to you).
-
A THOUGHT OCCURRED TO ME ... if NCSoft is actually (currently) considering the development of City of Heroes II, that could have provided them with the motivation to not step on this game (at least, until the new one launches): free marketing.
-
/JRanger Doing this would essentially mean maintaining multiple versions of the code, which would multiply the workload of maintaining and bugfixing the game.

Are people even interested in this any longer?
PaxArcana replied to eldriyth's topic in General Discussion
Maybe it's just that the heatwave is getting to me, but damn you are being a whiny, over-entitled, ungrateful little son of a bitch, aren't you? Every penny of which goes towards the game's hardware, hosting, and bandwidth costs ... and not one thin cent goes into any of the dev team's pockets. ... because the alternative is NO CITY OF X AT ALL, you insufferable little ingrate. >:( -

PaxArcana replied to eldriyth's topic in General Discussion
The dev team are all volunteers. They do this in their spare time, not as their day jobs. Don't expect patches to happen frequently, or really, at all. Just enjoy that the servers are up, and you can play. -
What does World of Warcraft do better than Cox?
PaxArcana replied to Hobbes1266's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely this. It has long been fashionable to hate on Bethesda. The last time they weren't hated, was Morrowind ... in 2002, long enough ago that many of the Bethesda-haters weren't even born, and I daresay MOST of them were likely too young for a drivers' license, and probably young enough they still thought the opposite sex had "cooties". Eeeeeeh, no, I think the idea was okay. It's the execution that really fell apart. People have been asking for multiplayer Fallout since F3 (even while the "old-school" Fallout fans largely panned the idea of Fallout as a first-person shooter). (Note, however, that I never bought F76 - the lack of private servers and risk of rampant PvP-dickishness warned me off, and the troubles the game has had since have kept me warned off ...) -
Mission stealthing, who to recall first.
PaxArcana replied to Botzoman's topic in General Discussion
Who to Recall first? The other guy(s) with Recall Friend, obviously. -
Doctor Von Zed is a Necro/Cold MM. So far it's been fun, but he's only in the mid-teens, so ... :)

Proposed change to the Poison support set
PaxArcana replied to Varkarrus's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
No, it doesnt. It means some people will defend anything. Conversely, some people will attack anything. Some people, indeed, are not satisfied until their personal-pet-favorite powerset is THE ultimate in overpowered extreme godmode amazingness. So when the argument is SPLIT between people saying "it's fine" and people saying "it's not fine", the consensus is: maintain the status quo. From what I've seen, they're saying it's okay for DPS, and the "soft control" of knockback is good enough to overlook being "merely okay" otherwise. ... and, your bias is revealed: You want your pet set(s) to be OP as possible, and to hell with game balance. ... /JRANGER to the whole idea. -
... now THAT is a change I can get behind, for Poison. I'd still like to see a "Poison Assault" sort of thing, though, to complement the support-oriented Poison set we already have.
-
They slowly refresh over time; it's done that way mostly to avoid having people server-hop willy-nilly. :)
-
Because you generally want your Set IOs to be at the max level possible for that set, in order to provide the max possible bonus%.

What does World of Warcraft do better than Cox?
PaxArcana replied to Hobbes1266's topic in General Discussion
... and yet, even the Big Guys can screw the pooch, and make films that are only mediocre, at best. :D (Yes, DC, I'm looking at you ...)
