I ran it yesterday on a team of 4/5. The mission itself isnt too bad, basically 3 hostages you rescue with an ambush. Once you lead them to the start its a 15 minute timer again waves of Redcap ambushes. But they spawn into a bottleneck so any AoE obliterates them. I did it with my blaster and 4 other squishies and it was pretty easy. Did a shout out in Lfg beforehand. But the missions before it can be a nightmare. Huge maps and evil little bastids who pop up, ambush and fill you with arrows. Half my team quit after the 2nd, including all the meleers. I felt a bit bad for them given how relatively easy the last was.

Energy Aura is easily debuffed by enemies and no heal till 35?
Carnifax replied to Omega9's topic in General Discussion
Personally EA didn't click for me til 35/36. That's when you get your Heal / PowersDontCostEndAnyMore power and have the slots to fit in enough IO bonuses to be hitting "good" defenses. After that it's like "Hey, I'm still alive in the middle of all of this". I do think Energize should be swapped with one of the Resist passives to come a bit earlier but Def sets tend to take mid-30s to come online anyway in my (limited) experience with NRG and Shield. -
It's not that I don't want a Blapper per say, just that I'm coming off the back of a Savage/Shield Stalker and a Bio/Spines tank so wanted a character who could stay out of melee. I had a cossie from Live which screamed "Time" so wanted to make a "Time" blaster (since I'd done Time / Sonic as a Defender). So it's a victim of all my self-imposed conditions 🙂 Plus the new Targetted AOE sets looked interesting and cheap (although given that this char earned 110 million yesterday off the back of a Synapse + 30 mins marketeering and is already pretty much slotted out why am I being cheap?) so wanted to try a build using them. Smashing / Lethal is a bit low (a Purple away from normal softcap) but NRG & Neg hit it which is nice. My Savage / Shield Stalker thanks you!! 🙂

Yup. This was my "approaching 50" build rather than the final build, hence the "normal" ATOs. I quite like hover-blasting in general (I've a pure-ranged Dark/Martial Domi and a Time/Sonic Defender who do it bar the odd jaunt in for a PBAOE stun / nuke). Artillery + Thunderstrikes are so good and Water is so ranged it seemed like a sensible idea. At 33 at the moment and loving it. Ranged Def is up to about 33% (and last night a Glads +3% dropped for me while running Croatoa missions which made my morning when I spotted it during my marketing work, sold it and bought the attuned version). I'm always happy to see alternate builds if it's easy for you. Other opinions and ideas are always good. Here's my "Level 50" variant. I know I said "no purples" but I've two here. Market Crash will give me one anyway and I've a few spare as well. Turns Dehydrate into the sustain + debuff and Water Jet into a semi-proc monster for abusing double-tap. That's okay. My plan for my blaster is just 6 slotting it with Artillery instead and using the wriggle-room that gives me in capping Ranged to remove 3 Thunderstrikes from the two single-targets and fill them with procs instead. Double-tap Water Jet with procs sounds fun.

Im guessing this includes Whirlpool? Mids seems to think it'd be a decent proccer but my brain disagrees.
-
Not quite. Knockdown forces the enemy to spend a couple of seconds getting back up. Knockback does that too but also ensures that enemy is no longer in melee range. That can be quite important if you're a squishy. Personally my broad take is that single target knockback is fine to good but aoe knockback is a pain cos it tends scatters things. On my meleers I never mind chasing something if it gets knockbacked but scattering a lovely tight-knit group which was begging to be AoEd is a pain in the nads. I pretty much always kb2kd AoEs.

Radiation teams (accelerate metabolism stacking)
Carnifax replied to feydrautha01's topic in General Discussion
I joined a Khan TF comprising only of Defenders and Corruptors before and it was glorious. We were basically capped to everything all of the time. One of the most ludicrous TF runs I've ever done. We were a mixed bunch rather than being all Rad but it was insane. -
I had an "interesting" Posi1 yesterday too and was worried this was me. But we didn't have a nightmare with the ambushes, I said thank you for every Wakie my Blaster sponged off people (there may have been a few..... ). And I'd never give out to a Domi for neutering a spawn and being smart. On our Posi1 we had a "healer" who quit without a word after we wiped a couple of times on the Orangabababababa map (CoT ruins). Mysteriously the Scrapper who hadn't said a word all TF also quit at exactly the same point.... 🤔 So they went onto gignore because that's just not on at all. Rest of the team were sound though and as a 6 man we did well enough from then on. Dealt with the Vash ambushes of Doom in the penultimate misssion and in the last mish we creamed the ambushes. Hit a snag when it came to the Shadows. A few wipes there but we got it done in the end and the people were decent and took it well. (also had one of the funniest Leeroy Jenkins moments when our Defender parsed our "Let's pull them into the lobby" tactics talk to mean "Pop 2 purples and run screaming at them". It was magnificent). I don't mind a nightmare mission if folks are trying, taking it in good spirits and there's no bitching, they can be hilariously fun. But quitting a TF mid-point without a word? That's a gignore.

Another question : Between Whirlpool and Steam Spray if I was to proc one out instead of slotting (which I can do) which would be the best to proc? I'm not sure how Whirlpool reacts to procs, if it's a Rain or not.

Hi folks Continuing on my "One of every AT to 50" following on from my Bio/Spines tank and decided that Blaster is next in line. I have a wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey costume from olden days so figured Water/Temporal would fit as a concept for her. I've no idea of Temporal (I do have a level 50 Time defender but that's a different animal) and aiming mainly to be AOE from far away so can anyone help with this. As per usual I've skipped Purples and Winters sets cos they're too expensive and avoided PvP sets too (bar the Pancea because it's awesome). Not very proc heavy either which is different to my usual but wanted to cap defenses and it's pretty AoE heavy anyway. Is Time Lord really the one-slot wonder it seems on paper or am I making a huge error in my theorycrafting? *Edit : Realized I was being dim with Posi's Blast over the 2nd ATO set and shuffled things around slightly to fit both Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! This. I had a PuG over the weekend where the leader was a Robots / FF MM. So lots of knockback at the best of times. But.... This wasn't the best of times. They had Repel Field on ALL THE TIME so pushed everything far and wide. I made a few veiled comments about how things were "glitching backwards" on me (a Savage / Shield stalker) but no response. I don't mind Bots sporadically knocking things back, that's fine, I'll chase them like the dog I am, but the widening out of every spawn into a lovely circumference of baddies (nemmies too so quite happy to stay at range and lob grenades at you) was too much for me. Ended up Scrapperlocking, jumping a mob ahead to deal with them before Mr Pushback caught up. I didn't ignore them mind, just waited for the mission to end and moved on, with a note warning me in the future that they use Repel Field. I did stick a persistent "Looking for AE Farm" person on Ignore a few weeks ago but only because a Blaster spending an hour spamming "looking for AE farm" in LFG while I'd been happily leading a PuG and made the bones of a level and had fun was breaking my brain with illogic. And it was day 5 or 6 of this (turns out he's infamous on the server I play on for it)

I've a Brute version in my Sig. But it took til level 36ish - 38 before it really started clicking : Started being able to slot enough bonuses to get mid 30s+ in defenses. Getting End Recovery at 28, Skysplitter at 32 and a self-heal / regen / power discounter at 35 and finally shoring up defenses with Weave at 38. Before that he felt squishy. But yes Staff is more about an AOE rain of orange numbers rather than huge single target.

Isnt the build up proc for stalkers global? Sure ive seen it go off for pretty much all my powers and I have it in Shield charge.

Hi folks Continuing my journey of "One of every AT to 50 and IOed out" my Savage / Shield Stalker is done and amazing so I thought it was time to try a Tank. Since I don't like repeating sets and I thought a crime fighting Sea Urchin was a good idea I settled on Bio / Spines. Bio is confusing me. Seems to be incredibly tight for power choices and hence opportunities for LOTGs. I've tried to proc up some attacks and keep others for set bonuses. Finally this is a levelling "as I head for 50 build" so no purples, superiors ATOs or the Winters sets (they're too expensive). But any help / explanations would be appreciated. Discussion: Disabling XP No Longer Increases Influence
Carnifax replied to Jimmy's topic in General Discussion
Same. I don't like it but it's still faster than the figures you quote here before the change. Just did a test run on my IOed (no purples or Winters sets other than the odd purple Proc) Warmace / Rad Brute who isn't designed for farming at all. Did the outdoor city map. Took me 25 mins and I ended up after selling everything for 5 inf with 17 million. I started off with nothing and lobbed everything onto the market with no regard of asking prices. That's me, not particularly Farm friendly or doing anything remotely smart and it's about 1/2 my previous rate (that farm seems to have changed too, the Corrupt Security bosses had disappeared) but it's still 2 ATOs in 25 mins. -
issue 26 Patch Notes for April 1st, 2020
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
I was running Rikti arcs on my Stalker and I kept mistaking mine for a Rikti Monkey and trying to Assassinate him. Between that and constantly thinking the Electric Affinity defender on the team was attacking me with their buffs yesterday was confusing 🙂 -
Find Contact : Enough of the First Ward / Night Ward spam
Carnifax replied to Carnifax's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
In theory the First Ward ones only go to level 30 and the NW to 40. And there's no need for so many of them. I mean I get the Talos contact who sends you there and a couple of actual inzone contacts as well. Seems weird. And they never expire. Similarly for Night Ward I get loads of them (4 or 5) and they never bugger off once I hit 40 and have in theory outlevelled them. I'd say the intention was this would always be some form of a semi-curated list, that as Issues went on they'd be edited / replaced with newer content so as to no longer show or have finite availability but whatever flags control it have never been adjusted for these contacts, so they stay forever. -
Take Your Child to Work Contest! ONE DAY ONLY!!
Carnifax replied to GM Miss's topic in Events & Contests
With all the social distancing and home schooling going on Mombie found their daily sporting outing to Perez Park was more important than ever to stop the children going totally stir crazy at home. Here's their story Mombie and Baby's Lovely Day out Mombie and the children went to the park. The children were very excited to be out of the house. Daddy was excited too. Baby ran all the way to the park by himself. First they did sports in the bandstand. Baby was too small to play with the balls like the bigger children. Daddy did his exercises. Then they went to the pond to do some fishing. "Baby. Be careful not to fall in" Mombie said. Baby got his feet wet. Then they had a lovely picnic. Daddy had a cup of tea. Baby didn't like his sandwich. And finally Mombie told them a lovely story about unicorns before they had to go home for Babys naptime. -
So when you hit level 20 all the way to 50 the Find Contact button in the UI gets almost totally filled with First Ward & Night Ward contacts. I've no problem with one or two to get you trying that content but 90% of the list becomes FW / NW making it hard to find the older contacts in Bricks, Founders and PI. Could we have a bit of a run through that logic to point people at other contacts? I ran the Revenant Project arc over the weekend and (other than the occasional PP doing it's Immortal Mode every now and then) it was a lot of fun with the 8 man PuGs I was running with my Stalker. I'd quite like to find other old arcs. Can't remember the last time I ran Freakolympics for example. I'd also quite like Vigs & Rogues to be able to pick up Praetoria and other side contacts too, just to open the arcs up a bit but understand others mightn't like that.

I used to be all support all the time. Controllers mainly, with masterminds, defenders and corruptors supplementing that. While I still have a controller and defender all my recent addictions in Homecoming now include 2 Brutes, a Domi which ive Perma-domed (first time ever) and now a Stalker who started to really bloom in the last few days in his 30s. And a Warshade but I always loved the random hodgepodge of a tricked out WS. So more melee for me, which I never did for long on Live. Plus one of my brutes can run S&L farms at a rate to fund lowbies as they level which is excellent. Jump on for 30 mins, 40 million which is enough for whatever set the current levelling build needs. Never farmed on Live (I know its not "proper" farming but its good enough and he's still a decent char outside).

Oohhhh! Never even thought of that

Mid's Reborn: Hero Designer
Carnifax replied to Metalios's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
Thanks both! I discovered I could also change the Default to my level, then set all my IOs to that default. But the number thing I never knew at all!
