  1. This is my preferred slotting too, my secondary is temporal and Im ranged focused, so Dehydrate really only needs to top up what hits thru softcap and gets thru the Absorb shield.
  2. Not a bug report but my Mids suddenly stopped working yesterday. Now I get this : Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and a .Net repair but it's still borked (latest Mids, Windows 10). Anyone got any ideas? Edit : Sorted via Discord. The uninstaller was leaving some JSON files behind. So once I uninstalled AND removed those the fresh install started working. At a guess something at start-up was parsing one of those JSON files and the resulting Object was a fail.
  3. I'd say have a look at Redlynnes Grav / Time thread and the thread here for ideas : As there's quite a few ideas & builds in those for Grav/Time. Having a quick look at your build it seems expensive but fragile (purple sets and Hami-Os can be dear). Power Boost in the Primal Epic is worth stretching for as it makes Farsight basically take care of a huge chunk of your defenses for you.
  4. Common IOs don't level with you. They just never expire (unlike SOs). Over the lifetime of your char it'll save you money to buy level 25 Common IOs at 22 rather than SOs. Once you hit 50 you replace them with a set IOd build. Personally I prefer to set-build as I go nowadays. Typically I'll have a "just-hitting-50" build I'm working towards done in Mids, usually posted to the forums too for feedback / clarification. That'll have no Purple IOs or Winter IOs and few PvP ones (all of these are expensive) and just the "standard" ATOs, not the superior versions. I'll get the ATOs at level 10. Some of the set IOs at 22 and most of the the rest at 27 and slot them in situ as slots become available. I'll shore up with SOs or common IOs as I go (if it's for "3-4 levels" I'll use an SO, longer I'll go Common IO). Generally by level 34/35 or so that means the build becomes stronger than an SO or Common IO build but it's quite convoluted and can involve a few respecs along the way. But I enjoy that part of the game. Plenty of other people use mostly common IOs at 22 and don't worry about set build until 50. I just find that at 50 I get distracted and start an Alt so the newly minted IO Build doesn't get played as much. Really it's up to how you like playing and planning builds.
  5. I wonder what would happen if you combined "huge taunt" with the "only affecting self" flag things like Afterburner apply. Would the mobs be attracted to the taunt spot, or would the pet AI instead cause them to run away like idiots? Im betting its be the sort of "run, change my mind. No, ill run. No, but its so pretty" you see with Tank taunt auras sometimes.
  6. Cheers all. Icicles is back into the build now, took it at 44. Look isn't as bad as I feared when turned darkest navy and in amongst all the other toggle effects. I'd tried darkest grey previously and it stuck out. Also dropped GIS for Crosspunch as suggested and it's much nicer feeling, and will take an Oblit set too. Level 46 now and sitting at 44% smashing, lethal, NRG and Neg. With that, Hoarfrost, my tier 9 and Epic Hibernate available as an emergency I've found myself being the last person standing a fair few times. Yup, I know the proc chance goes down but having such a quick animating power up more often seems to make up the difference. Plus as-is I need the 3.75% smash / lethal from Kinetic Combat.
  7. Personally, unless you need the slots for an IO set I dont think youd need any of the heals 6 slotted. 4 or 5 would be my normal max (with maybe an exception fora Kin or Dark who need to get Acc in there too, or a range for Natures cone). Healing Aura is a clicky so I dont think youll need 3 end reduction in it. Also on the offchance you have it on Auto, dont have it on auto. Theres no need and the animation time can interfere with when you want to actually need to save someone with a bigger heal. Plus the constant noise of heal spam is kinda annoying 😀
  8. IO slot-wise, without going into an entire build (cos I'm hungover) I usually use 5 Doctored Wounds in my heals for the recharge IO bonus. It's not the hugest increase but probably the most cost effective (around 7.5 million for a set of 5).
  9. I was following this too but since AI and .Net arent my strengths I wasnt throwing my oar in on it. I do agree with the implied point that with Mids it may be time to tear it down and start afresh, while completely understanding how much work would be involved in such a blase sentence.
  10. Healing is nice and all but I think here youre way overslotted for heals, at the cost of your attacks. Pure healers arent needed in CoH, especially later as peoples builds mature. You have a whole secondary stuffed with Blasts for a reason. You can certainly focus more on buffs and then heals and finally blasts but effectively ignoring your secondary is going to gimp you and leave you with very little to do on a strong team who doesnt need much healing. Also recovery aura should be slotted with End Mod rather than End Red. Theres a whole post stickied at the top of this forum explaining the fallacy of the "pure healer" in CoH.
  11. On the "power monitoring" tip one very useful thing to monitor is "last hit chance". It's always at the end of my list, for easy reference, and lets me know if a certain enemy got massively buffed or something. For example with Rikti drones are typically hard to hit but often ill be fighting a Lieut apparently exactly like all the others but my ToHit is down in the teens because they got buffed. Similarly with Carnies I can easily miss that theres a Dark Servant somewhere in the bloom cloud. Checking my last ToHit at a glance let's me confirm one of the buggers is in here somewhere and I should try and use my quick animating attacks to take him out (cos wiffing a quick attack is much less annoying than with a 3 second heavy hitter) and maybe pop a few yellows.
  12. Never seen this on my Brute. I always have to do Guarded > Innoculous > Guarded and then I'm 3 stacked. Could be a Tank-only bug resulting from the changes to tanks recently? My Staff / NRG also only "clicked" at around level 35. Now he's a beast. Sits at the incarnate cap for Smashing / Lethal (well way above for Lethal once Guarded starts stacking up), 2 stacks of guarded gets me there on melee, a heal and decent resists, especially if you use Body which NRG can do. Only thing I dislike is the redraw. Devs said Redraw was a thing of the past but it certainly looks like redraw to me if I heal or end drain (or use Gloom or the epic AOE).
  13. Yes, I usually have enough by then too. It was just a warning in case someone starts, realizes they can only upgrade 4 and ends up splitting the IO Set bonus in twain.
  14. Running Market Crash is also worthwhile once for your Purple drop. Also if you have any ATOs upgrading them to superiors is useful, but only if you have enough / can afford enough to upgrade the whole set in one go.
  15. I messed around with an above build to squeeze Power Boost in (at the cost of a few slots for LOTG). Looks like you're still within Perma-hasten & perma Chronos. So now (in Mids) everything seems capped and as a bonus you get a Resist shield. Since there was additional recharge wriggle room I turned Propel & Time Stop into proc monsters, along with Slowed Response for some AOE damage. Also changed the Proc in Wormhole into KB2KD because your team will thank you. Removed procs from Distortion Field cos they're crap in there. You could switch the Lift and Propel slotting if you prefered a quicker proccer. I also moved Hasten up instead of Weave. I just prefer more recharge over a wee bit of extra defenses, especially if you end up exemping for TFs. I know losing Mez protection from your Epic is a pain in the unmentionables but for endgame you can get Clarion. Or you could try reworking to squeeze the Sorcery pool in somehow for Rune, which works as clicky mez protection. So if you HAD to get Sorcery in there somehow for the Mez protection I'd probably go with this. You lose a bit of recharge and defense (and Distortion Field!) but get a Ward, Mystic Flight and Rune available about 50% of the time (and the resists it comes with too). You could make up some of the recharge losses by going the Purple in Crushing Field and GDF if you're loaded (I'm not so I only smatter builds with choice Purples)
  16. Yes. Water Jet is your hardest hitting DPA attack, plus with 3 stacks of Tidal it instantly recharges. Water Jet slotted out for Acc & Dam with the spare slots filled with procs will make you very happy.
  17. Are Corruptor values right in the current version? I was doing a Dark/TA build and thought Life Drain seemed terrible. After comparing with someone elses figures in the thread it looks like Damage values for corruptors in my version (which says there are no updates) seem very low.
  18. Latest version. Both mine are unslotted. I did think they were very low alright. Looks like the Corrupter values are incorrect in my version. The Defender version is higher!! Mine should be the latest but I'll see if I had some buggy version of it. Edit : Seems to be the latest but the Corrupter version seems borked. That's very odd. I'll go report it. Good news is that Life Drain seems less sad than I thought it was.
  19. Hmmm. I'm seeing 46 damage vs 49 in favour of Dehydrate? Plus a marginally better heal, recharge (like 6ms) and better range. And it isn't even Waters Tier 3 (it's got Water Jet for that), it's available from level 12. Remember the -Def also means it's Achilles friendly. Although Dark does get it's Snipe, and early, and quick snipes are amazing now. Here's the two with no other modifiers in Mids.
  20. This, and Dark Armor last week. Meanwhile poor Dark Blast is sitting in a corner crying for a pass, with its weird mismatched cones and the Tier "3" blast which Dehydrate points and laughs at..... Anyway I'd agree with most things posted here. I don't mind the look of the dog too much, more alternatives would be nice though. But dear lord please get a muzzle fitted to him. He barks CONSTANTLY and its maddening. Other than that it's a well designed set sitting somewhere between Illusion and Mind in how it "feels", with a lot of AOE Control. I know a lot of people don't like Shadow Field but my Domi loves it and appreciates the fact it's somewhat Domination compatible (I think the initial placement uses Domi but the random "procs" after don't?).
  21. Also I've no idea why people are discussing Dark Armour and Dark Control as the weekly topic when poor old Dark Blast seriously needs a pass. Setting the 3 cones to the same angle (40 degrees) and making Life Drain do decent damage (compared to Waters Dehydrate it's a joke and Dehydrate is buffable via Tidal Forces stacks) would be a start. along with giving Dark Pit something to do.
  22. You seem to have sacrificed damage output for defense and recharge sets. Dark Pit is garbage. It only stuns Minions. I'd be taking the Cones and slotting them with the new Artillery set. 6 slotting Artillery gives you lots of Ranged defense and some Range, perfect for cones. Torrent is crap damage but it is soft control and will take a Forced Feedback for more recharge. You also want Oil Slick slotted for damage. Achilles -Res works better in Acid Arrow. Burning Oil Slick does a lot of damage. Getting some reliable way of lighting it (well as reliable as lighting Oil Slick can be) would be useful. So if I was building one of these I'd go with a build like this. Not quite at the softcap, maddeningly but you could tweak things. This build is 1 Purple off capping Smashing & Lethal too, nearly at the Incarnate Cap for NRG and nearly capped for Neg too. With all your -ToHit you'll be pretty safe! I included Arcane Bolt as your Oil Slick lighter. But it's damage is decent too. Animation is annoying but it hits hard. Another option for lighting Oil slick is the Origin power for Tech or Magic. No travel power because I just go down the P2W route nowadays (Ninja Run, Sprint, Rocket Pack). Life Drain really needs a buff. Looking at the numbers in Mids makes me sad. I only have it slotted like that for the Thunderstrike Ranged bonuses. I don't use Purples or Winters Sets (and only one PvP IO) cos they're too expensive for a non-farmer afflicted with altisis.
  23. I have a Necro / Nature and it's a fun combo. It is recharge intensive (since the 3 big buffs need recharge to head towards getting them perma) but there's room there for things like procs. Mostly I went for Nature originally for concept but it worked out well. Build in my sig. Whatever route you go try and stick the Overwhelming Force Chance for knockdown into your zombies. Slippery Zombie Puke never gets old.
  24. Nope. No min for it. Tried darkest blue in the cossie editor but its still minging. I understand how auras are free damage, animationwise but I dont think I can get past it. I may try again but it is terribad looking. Hmmmm. This is interesting. Gonna look at the animation & recharge time differences. For frozen touch at the mo its using the same slotting as Ice Sword, kinetic + an Acc/Dam to get it fully slotted and a psi proc. That IO might be a decent alternative proc. Im not against a smattering of purps etc, just most builds are 2 Winters sets and 2-3 purple sets here and thats 400+ million. Edit : So taking all of this onboard and trying to shunt things around (Cross Punch IS marginally higher DPA, plus it can hit more than one thing but won't take ATOs)
  25. Set bonuses. You probably want to focus on those giving Smashing/Lethal defenses, recharge. You want to try and get 45% smashing and lethal then work on recharge (more recharge = quicker disruption, oil slick and ice patches). In Mids you can switch to "alternate slotting" to experiment with sets without disrupting your current Common IO build. Try and buy Attuned IOs (except purples and PvP) so you keep as many bonuses as possible if exemping down for Tfs / Strike forces. Affording them can be tricky. Easiest way is to use merits to by Converters and then sell the Converters en mass at the market. Each converter goes for about 80k typically and you get 3 per merit. So your overall inf per merit ends up around 220,000. For more advanced techniques you can instead buy cheap recipies which only use common and uncommon ingredients (usually at level 31 to save on crafting fees) then use the merit-bought converters on them to change them to more expensive IOs you can sell on the market for a few million inf. Use that cash to buy your attuned sets.
