  1. I'm not sure why this, as an optional feature, couldn't be made available regardless of which perspective you're playing from...
  2. Since I was supervising him as he played, we did things like close chat and some other superfluous windows. He wanted CoH to kind of mimic a 3rd person action game as much as possible, because that's what he's used to. It was hard enough trying to explain that he could use the number keys instead of having to click on the power icons, and I had to arrange said power icons because he didn't grasp that he could drag-and-drop powers however he liked. Heck, even explaining the concept of inspirations and how he didn't need to save them *just* for boss fights was a bit of a struggle...
  3. Now imagine you've never played CoH, are about 10 years old, and want to focus on your character. On top of that, further imagine yourself as having virtually no experience with PC games, mainly being a console player only...
  4. The problem is, not everyone is used to having to take their attention away from the main gameplay area to look for a little marker on a fairly small compass bar at the top. Remember, this isn't so much for us who are already familiar with the game, but a newcomer...
  5. So I have a tanker I've grown to love "Megalo Don", who is a 7' anthropomorphic shark. Each interpretation gained their powers through slightly different means, but what is important is that they all use savage melee. I already have a bio/sm and a rad/sm version, and was seeking ideas for other ones. My current leaning is toward willpower and ice armor, but I'm open to other sets. My only caveats are that they must use savage melee, and that I'd prefer to not use sets that make the character invisible or completely override their costume. Your thoughts and input are greatly appreciated! Cheers!
  6. So I was showing CoH to my nephew the other day, and one thing he had difficulty with was trying to navigate to targets/contacts via the compass marker at the top or via the mini-map. He's more familiar with FPS games, and how they'll often depict an arrow pointing right or left, indicating where the target is relative to you. I was thinking it'd be useful, as an option, to have similar indicators here in CoH. Such indicators for the target being above or below you could be helpful as well...
  7. There was a time where reaching level 14 to unlock fly, SS, or SJ, felt like a huge upgrade to your gameplay. I remember running around with just hurdle & combat jumping, trying to see just what new areas I could get to. I remember having just hover, and trying to reach the blimp in AP. I also remember wracking my brain on how to fit hurdle, health, & stamina into my builds...
  8. Maybe make it an easily accessible power from P2W, then, similar to the reveal one...
  9. Just mark them on the map already - one of Mako's Patron missions has you planting bombs on a ship, and they're marked on the map, so why not just make that the norm...
  10. My next thought, then, is if the car crash could have occurred after Bruce was sent back to Earth, after the Hulk was beaten by Thanos, when Hulk refused to come out. Then, Bruce could be injured as a normal person. *** shrugs ***
  11. But he was aware of it. Let's say someone he trusted gave him some sleeping pills without telling him. Bruce falls asleep, and then that person tried to kill him. That's what I'm wondering about...
  12. Has anyone tried Stray? I've watched some gameplay footage, and while it looks great, I'm wary that it'll turn out to basically be the "boring parts" of a 3rd person RPG, without any of the combat, powers, or customization...
  13. I'd love a "summon all" power as a QoL improvement. The numbers can be tweaked a bit, sure, and customization would be lovely as well...
  14. Does Bruce have to be "aware" in order to turn into the Hulk? Like, if they were on a long drive and he fell asleep, then they got into the car crash, could Bruce have conceivably gotten cut before waking up and transforming?
  15. My understanding is that a seagull model spawned somewhere in error, named "Null", and they ran with it...
  16. Back of a small box truck in the parking lot just east of City Hall. What harm would it be to familiarize yourself with the game a bit more - if you didn't even know there was a connection to Pocket D a mere few steps from where you spawn in, then maybe that should be your priority. Read the pink box toward the bottom of this page to learn more.
  17. If you're talking about the CoT collar + mantle + little back piece, they yes - it's under shoulder options for males. And, yes, I agree it should be available for all body types.
  18. It was basically a quick and dirty way to implement the features, as outlined here.
  19. Maybe have an "information officer" NPC near the starting areas, that offers some useful advice, like how to find Null the Gull...
  20. I can't recall, but does any of the lore address casual use of super powers within the CoH setting? I do recall a trailer where BaB was using his super strength to help with the post-Rikti invasion cleanup, as was Sister Psyche, (only using telekinesis)...
  21. Since there are entries to Pocket D in the starting zones, I don't think this is needed. While I would like a one-shot "make me immune to group travel powers" option, due to how it had to be kludged-together, I don't think a toggle option is viable...
  22. What if, instead of full-fledged minions, they initially existed as sort of floating glyphs or kind of amorphous clouds, (think unbound Nictus), but when attacking, they'd open into a small portal, and things like Hydra or Lusca's tentacles reached through to attack your target. Alternatively, you could use the various Rularuu monuments that float around and the tentacles emerge from them. The set could be like this: 1. Bolt of Ichor (use the aqua bolt animation) - dealing toxic and cold damage. 2. Summon lesser tears - You can open up 1-3 small tears in reality, through which weaker extradimensional creatures reach through and lash out at your enemies. Use a smaller Lusca or Hydra tentacle, only sideways, coming out of the tear graphic, (think a small portal with a starfield visible through it). 3. Ichor Blast (use the hydro blast animation) - dealing higher toxic and cold damage. 4. Empower entities - 1st upgrade power. 5. Burst of ichor (as per the water burst power) - dealing cold and toxic damage and knocking affected enemies up and slowing them. 6. Conjure greater ruptures - 2nd tier pets - represented as larger portals, through which reach multiple Lusca and/or Hydra tentacles - these can lash at targets and project some of the ichor attacks previously mentioned. 7. Eye of beyond - Use the Eye of the leviathan model, only have it emerge from the ground, (or from an appropriate floating portal) - have it launch attacks dealing cold and toxic damage, as well as fear powers. 8. Breach the Veil - The tier 3 pet - an even larger portal, out of which reach many tentacles from some unknown entity - these again deal smashing and cold damage with the melee attacks, and cold and toxic with the ranged attacks. Have it periodically place small tar patches from darkness affinity, haunt from darkness control, and other appropriate powers. 9. Mastery of the Unknown - final upgrade power
  23. Doesn't all of fire armor "pay" for the extra damage granting abilities with lower resist values?
  24. I wonder how stringent sports teams/leagues would be about checking for superpowers or other enhancements, within the CoH world. Heck, just about any job, particularly those that involve manual labor, would love a superhumanly strong worker, or someone who can start fires or freeze things on a whim...
  25. If the game cane handle the amount of glow shown below, then it can surely handle having the existing chest symbols glow...
