I came up with a few ideas, all based on the same theme. I won't post screenshots of them all, but here's a few samples, (I did include all the costume files though): fire blaster mk1.costume fire blaster mk1d.costume fire blaster mk1c.costume fire blaster mk1b.costume fire blaster mk1a.costume

For me, it's about realizing different and obscure character concepts, neat costumes, weird or unusual powerset combinations, or more recently, seeing how the IO system can best compliment, compensate for, or otherwise fundamentally change how some powers or sets function.

I can't speak to a specific build, but in general, you'll want to make sure recovery and regen aura are available as often as possible, so you'll want to make sure you have some recharge reduction enhancements slotted in them. Similarly, fortitude is a very powerful buff, so you'll want to try and keep it on as many teammates as you can. Further still, you'll want to look into getting 5 of the special "Luck of the Gambler +global recharge" invention-origin enhancements, (IOs), to increase how often those key powers are available - they can be slotted into any power that allows slotting a defense enhancement. If you find that you are running out of endurance when trying to keep all the buffs and attacks going, look into the following special IOs: Panacea: Chance for HP & end, Miracle: +recovery, Numina's Convalescence: +regen/+recovery, and Performance Shifter: Chance for +end. Assuming you get any endurance issues under control, one nice thing about electrical blast is you can just keep the voltaic sentinel out, so it'll attack for you whilst you focus on buffing & healing. With regard to the latter, you can click on the teammates name in the team window, so you can more easily select them. Depending upon how tight or free a build is, I'll usually just throw 3 heals in each heal ability and leave it at that. I also tend to skip powers like absorb pain, since it locks me out of healing myself for a while.

Are you looking to stick with the same color scheme as your screenshot? Are you trying to go with a "clean scrap" a la Iron Man Mk1, or more of a rusted-out junk/steampunk aesthetic?

I almost always take one. I find them more convenient, as I don't want to worry about the timer running out in the middle of an instance or event.

I think the best and least obtrusive way would be to create a custom chat channel, then bind a commonly used key, like W or spacebar to type the location into that chat channel, (which you'd push to said custom channel)...

New Computer - Any pitfalls to worry about?
biostem replied to dmiasek's topic in General Discussion
What I mean is that even a modern integrated graphics card will not be able to properly run the game at full speed and with all effects turned up, (you can use the -usetexenvcombine launch parameter to mostly address that, but the game won't look as nice). If you're using something like an APU, or a system with a built-in, but still distinct GPU, you'll be fine. -

Yeah, CoH pretty much needs a 8086 architecture, barring any emulation thereof, which would add additional layers of complexity... -

Any modern computer will be able to run CoH without issue, but you will want a dedicated video card. -
I don't think you can look at a blaster's melee attacks in isolation; They do their best work when combining both ranged and melee attacks. You can get a rough idea of the damage scales for each AT here, but that doesn't give you the whole picture; Blasters get stacking damage buffs for each of their primary or secondary powers they use, so that has to be factored in as well. Further, if you combine that with many blasters having access to both aim & buildup, not to mention being able to deal damage the entire time they are closing to melee range, things add up pretty quickly. Don't get me wrong, scrappers also deal great damage, but they trade some of it away for that added degree of safety.

Animations are probably the most time-intensive aspect of creating a new set, which is why they get reused & repurposed so often. The closest you're likely to see would be some tweaking of the titan weapon animations, but even then, some of the existing broadsword weapon models don't have the correct hilt lengths. I suppose they could try to make the katana animations selectable for broadsword, but IIRC, those 2 sets basically started off as clones of each other in the first place...

Now you gotta do his female counterpart, "Juiciet".

Frankly, since you're getting back into the swing of things, I wouldn't worry too much about a specific build right now. Heck, by the time you hit 50, you'll have 3 separate builds to work with. To that end, what I'd suggest would be to use some level 25 or 30 "generic" invention-origin enhancements, (IOs), which are on par with single-origin enhancements, but never expire as you level up. Those cost a lot less than the set-IOs, and should give you a good enough idea about the character to see if they're worth sticking with and fully slotting with said set-IOs.

Managed to get mine in this month. Keep up the great work, HC team!

Here's what I came up with. As I mentioned before, it makes heavy use of the barbarian costume pieces... he-man concept1.costume

I'll see if I have time to put something together later, but start with a bare chest, then the barbarian legs, (with or without the tights), and you're most of the way there - just tweak it to your liking.
-
No need to, though - use x-ray beam as your ranged attack, then rely on boxing, kick, cross punch, and maybe air superiority or even jump kick or some others to fill out an attack chain. Cyclops was quite the capable hand to hand combatant, after all...

honoroitisfantastic whats your most pressing issue?
biostem replied to honoroit's topic in General Discussion
I may be wrong on this, but beyond the increased XP for mobs within an instance, you also get the end-of-mission XP. -
I mean, all you need is 1 farming character, then you just roll anything you want on an alternate account and dual-box. Don't even need to follow or autofire anything...

In looking over the Wiki, to see what particular power combinations I haven't played yet, one that looked interesting to me is beasts/forcefield. Has anyone tried this combination, and if so, what are your thoughts or advice? Thanks for reading!

There might have been a time, when CoH was still live, that farmers used bots to speed up the process of gathering rewards to sell on the RMT market, but in general, I don't think CoH ever rose to the level of popularity for it to become a real problem...

Unofficial Is This Copyright Infringement Thread
biostem replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
If you don't enforce copyright, you lose it. Once a precedent has been established that a company won't enforce it for whatever the reason, it becomes ammunition for others to violate it going forward. -
So... like Species, only with batteries?
