This is actually quite an interesting video. A lot to digest but very informative. He also presents everything with a touch of humor so extra points for that. I'm not mentioning this to perpetuate the already rather exhausted 'discussion' in this thread - rather instead it is something fascinating and perhaps worthy of 20~ minutes of your time if you just like learning things, which I do. In fact I see this guy has a bunch of videos that look interesting to me. I have no idea if I agree with him on everything (maybe, maybe not) but he certainly presents the information in a fun way and with logic and reason. I might check out some of his other vids now - so "Thanks!" @TemporalVileTerror. 👍

😀 Okay I know I said I was done with this thread - but in rereading some of it I guess I totally missed the part where we weren't just casually kidding around about baby boomers. Good golly I have no 'hatred' toward anyone. Tough crowd today. I know most of you are being casual and lighthearted but it seems like every comment gets taken as 'hate'. I feel sorry for comedians these days. Must be weird saying a comment meant to be humorous and having some folks come back with "You serious Clark?"... 😀 I forgot to include Gen X because I am an old and feeble Baby Boomer! lol 😀 Okay - NOW I'm gonna try to leave this topic in peace instead of pieces, lol. 😀 (I've added some pictures of smiley faces - If those somehow mean rage and hatred please let this old dog know... I'm afraid you have me very wrong and I could not possibly disagree more strongly. The only 'hate' I'm feeling here isn't coming from me... hint hint. Nor have I ever implied anyone should be dragged into the street and beaten. Perhaps you aren't referring to me or any of the others in this post who said grown up things in a grown up way. Or perhaps you were referring to me in which case I would suggest calming down. BECAUSE YOU AREN'T MAKING MUCH SENSE if that is the case. lol The original purpose or point to this thread was to bring a valid community concern to light (someone possibly breaking the terms they agreed to). The correct course of action (in this case) is to turn it over to the Homecoming GM team. They will evaluate it. It MAY or MAY NOT be a violation. It isn't up to any of us to make that call. However, you AND OTHERS can pop in here and post your opinions (mine included) all day long. It's kind of what forums are for. I honestly don't think anything being said in this thread is any kind of threat to you so I just don't quite see the reason for a statement like the one bolded above. You have every right to make that statement. I simply will use my identical right to disagree. I'm not quite seeing the 'hate' you are implying. Hate for what exactly? I'm, confused. Oh never mind... This thread started out as a Mogwai and someone fed it after midnight. lol There is honestly no point to keep posting in this thread other than to possibly cause a headache for some folks who don't deserve one so I am officially done with this particular circular conversation. Technically you are correct. My point was that I am actually part of a smaller generation that gets called 'baby boomer' because they decided to extend that period for whatever reason. My point also is I missed the boat on reaping many of the 'American dream' benefits on being in that generation and am simply labelled as part of it. Completely petty and irrelevant distinction, I know, I just find it odd to be lumped in with a group of folk who lived a very different generation than I did and still be considered part of that group. I have a feeling I'm not completely alone in my perspective. As an example (or evidence) of what I was trying to convey why suddenly in 1965 (six months after I was born) is everyone Gen X? Now that I look closer at the whole supposed 'generation' thing it's all kind of 'broadly' applied even though many folks on each end of these arbitrary time periods (withing each group) lived or experienced very different things.. lol 😉 Lost Gen = 17 years Silent Gen = 17 years Baby Boomers = 18 years Millennials = 15 years Gen Z = 16 years Gen Alpha (wth kinda name is that? lol better than 'lost' I guess) = However flipping long they decide to make it

Wait. Shouldn't this have said "Thank you, thanks, I really appreciate it!"? 😜 As far as the baby boomer thing goes... I'm 57 in a couple weeks (born in '64) and sometimes I get included in the baby boomer group. The truth is from my perspective the actual baby boomers are my parents generation (mother born in '45) and I am part of a generation that has no specific title. I am honestly right in the 'wake' of the baby boomers. I often feel (even more so as I get older) that I'm the guy having to clean up the movie theater after the baby boomers massively destroy the place on a Saturday night. The closest thing I can think of to associate my personal experience with is 'That 70's Show' and even then I would only have been around 10 so I sort of misfit that group too. I guess you could call my generation the 'Disco' generation but I think I would prefer the 'dog poop' generation to that. lol Anyhoo, speaking from a personal perspective I feel more like the guy who wanted a sandwich after the locusts were gone than actually part of that group. 🙃

@Col. Kernel - No problem. I cannot throw stones at anyone else. It simply caught me off guard and I did not know where you were coming from. I can see how someone might get the impression you did. If a person likes tribute characters and HC says they are okay as long as they don't cross certain lines I don't see what the problem is. I would disregard the 'banter' parts of this thread as they are just that. I was completely unaware of your (understandable) irritation with this thread. I myself am guilty of letting a forum thread or two get under my skin, lol. I just did not know your 'passionate' replies originated in your strong feelings about tribute characters. I have no problem with that at all. Unfortunately the way you came across when I read it I made no connection to you defending anything, So I spoke up, as did others. Heck we all disagree with each other about one thing or another. It's all good. We just couldn't see the whole picture. Had I seen it I would have just let you be (but maybe still pointed out how you were overlooking a true danger). Of course I don't believe you don't care. I know you do or you wouldn't be here my friend. I think that's part of what threw me was your posts sort of came across "f 'em. let them try!" which I'm sure now that's not what you meant. As for the personal jab, I had no idea there was something going on there. Sometimes when something presses my buttons just so I react instinctively. We all do. We're human, you know? I know.. Did you really mean to come across like this? While I agree with the rest of this post as a 'general' comment, I really am not sure what this part of the post was about. I wanted to say 'like' to the other part of the post because it is a good point (however keep in mind the Beatles song 'Revolution' points out that this too can be taken too far). But this tone pointed directly at someone who really didn't say anything worthy of being hung from a tree just seems... unnecessary. Especially when they were just stating a truth. Maybe you said it lightheartedly. It's difficult to tell when reading something online what the actual tone is sometimes. Again, they simply pointed out the truth - the part that is being overlooked by others. I can see that you feel passionately about the past and NCSoft and I can certainly understand that. What I think has me puzzled here is this seems like hubris to me on your part. You sound pretty confident that you and you alone understand exactly how the rest of this lunatic asylum will react and that they are all powerless to do what they clearly can do if they want to. I don't know you personally and I hate butting heads but I have to speak up here. Why all the attitude? We all just want to quietly play our game. I completely agree - I think it would be most unwise to make the Eye of Sauron look this way. Even if this seems overblown none of us really knows what toe going over what line might wake the sleeping giant. They seem to be tolerating us. For now. It seems like this may possibly go well and HC and NCSoft may eventually be able to reach an agreement, but I think anything that creates a potential issue for them would give them pause. So, lets continue to all try as a community to behave and at least not give them a legitimate reason to shut this all down. Just my thoughts on the matter. Either way I don't think this is something to get too worked up over. Just be aware and watch for toes going over the line...

I wholeheartedly concur. Probably best to call GM attention to it now before it does create a problem.

Hmmm. I hope folks aren't misinterpreting the relaxing of the video rules to mean they can trample on IP rights. I would just take note and maybe shoot a message to the GM's to let them determine what's going on and if it's allowed.

Yeah, I don't mean to poke fun at the OP because what they are upset about is valid to them. I was just trying to lighten the mood. But in all seriousness, I would say to anyone getting that frustrated about something (actually unimportant) in an online game, EVEN IF JUSTIFIED, it's not a healthy way to play. I actually feel for anyone so frustrated that they blow a fuse because, well, been there myself a few times. Honestly there IS NOTHING any of us can say to relieve the OP's frustration. That person is going to have to work through it like we all do. Instead of taking the humorous approach, I think maybe I should try a serious approach to this topic, because I do care when people get worked up (and I hope others do the same for me when I do). So OP, perhaps you just came here to vent and honestly, I feel these forums are a safe place for that. You're going to get a little feedback you don't really want to hear and that's understandable too. But your frustrations are valid (for you and others) and I don't want you to think I'm laughing AT you - I was trying to laugh WITH you which is what I think most folks here try to do. I'm hoping once you cool down a bit you might understand we're all friends here and just having a bit of fun with you but I am concerned that your reaction indicates instead of helping you relax a bit I may have just made your day worse, and for that I am sorry. For what it's worth, I'm having similar frustrations IN REAL LIFE. People misbehaving is certainly nothing new to the human race, but right now the volume knob on that behavior seems to be turned up full blast and I am having what feels like more than my fair share of BS from life... well, it's just the way it is. A LOT of our frustrations as human beings comes from our expectations of others based on what we want from them, not who they are. Control of your life, while real in some ways, is a complete illusion in other ways. Realizing that can be incredibly helpful to begin to heal whatever toxins are getting bottled up. Just try to avoid the mistake I have made many many times (including recently) of thinking just because something SHOULD and COULD be done differently or better doesn't mean it will ever happen, or if it does, that it will happen because you want it to. I have no answers OP. In your particular situation I can only suggest maybe trying to group with folks who are on the same page with you play style wise. But I did want to stop back in here and say as one human being to another - I really am just trying to cheer you up (and others here). Notice my caps lock seems to 'stick' sometimes too. Take care.

Very cool @Solarverse . It's kind of fun just watching you run around pew-pew'ing! 🙂 This is a good idea in general. I wonder if others who make mods (I don't, at least currently) will pick up on this. Also, do you plan to add links in the CoH Modder descriptions or will PK's app even let you? Anyhow, very nice!

My main here is a remake of my main from live, an Elec3 blaster. Is Elec considered the most uber? No. But he IS uber. VERY. IMO the powerset differences for blaster can make a difference if you are trying to achieve a specific goal but for overall general playing I recommend putting together a build with powers that are fun and enjoyable to you and/or that go with what your character's 'theme' is. Also, honestly there are ways to make almost any build awesome at this point. And there are some real build 'wizards' out there posting great ideas for builds to help folks (see the "Archetypes" forums). Anyhow, I'm trying to say that CoH here on Homecoming pretty much allows you to put together almost any powerset combo and just being a moderately skilled player you will do fine (or should). My E3 blaster most certainly can do some very powerful stuff. He's not a tank but even still he holds his own against numerous mobs very well (again, not as many as a tanker or brute but still impressive). Anymore you can build all of them to be pretty solid - then you just need to pick good powers from whichever powersets you choose and slot them well. Oh, and of course learn how to use them and be tactical about your battles or you can sometimes even get scrapperlock depending on your build and the mobs. I think I even found a tanky elect blaster build by Hyperstrike right here in these forums if I'm remembering correctly. Basically IMO blasters are still the 'glass canons' they always have been but now they are more like 'fiberglass canons' with even higher damage than before - so if you kill it fast YOU WIN! 😁 So go - be any darn type of blaster you want to be and have fun!

I sometimes say the line from Dumb and Dumber "Hey Guys! Big gulps huh?" and then when I'm done 'arresting' them "Well, see ya later!". It's not even funny it's just a silly thing I say for some reason. Another is to sing the Mighty Mouse battle cry "Here I come to save the day!" full on Andy Kaufman style. I've always wanted to do the 'Leeroy Jenkins' battle cry before a raid and listen to everyone freak out. Not a good way to earn DKP though, lol. Sometimes I catch myself just talking to the mobs saying things like "Aaaand just where do you think you are going?" or "Get back here you slobbering coward!"... Just random nonsense. (which is pretty much what everything I say is, lol)

? Edited to add: Well shoot. I'm the kind of guy that likes to use humor to lighten things up. On the off chance that (unintentionally) I angered you with my admittedly silly humor, my apologies. Added this in case you log back on later and are plotting my doom (along with all trollers and doms). The other possibilities are that posting a snippet quote with no reply is some kind of statement (I'm not always up on the latest internet weirdness). If so I do not understand. I dont know which AT would be best. Curious myself. For the name perhaps something like Terrific or Terriflic or Trickflic or Stickflic or Trickstic. Will keep thinking on it. Ballistic is obviously a great one.

I am glad to hear Redlynne is okay. For someone to be that involved in CoH / HC and then drop it like a hot potato (for vanilla WoW) sounds like maybe some unfortunate incident took place (as already speculated). I wish Redlynne (and others) well where ever they go. Salute.
