  1. Ok - I have a Savage brute, scrapper, stalker, and tanker, all of whom I love but admittedly haven't played them much as I have so many toons at this point, lol. Anyhow, I recently came accross the Gorilla Costume thread in General and decided to make both a inv/sav tanker (cyborg gorilla) and a sav/inv brute (werewolf) because I didn't have much in the way of animal/beast toons in my stable. So now I have two Savage brutes and tankers. With no regrets. Long story short - Savage Melee plays like a dream for this kind of toon. It is the perfect pairing. I don't have to look at numbers - it just FEELS awesome to play for this kind of character. So, while I'm in agreement that this set is being overlooked by some without justification, it really is a great set with certain 'theme' builds and that may be getting overlooked also. My other Savage toons are non-beast types and it's actually great on them too. But wow, it goes great with the 'animal' look /feel. (be sure to add beast run and an occasional Tarzan emote for the complete effect). YMMV πŸ‘
  2. Well since I love this toon so much and I brought up my werewolf from Champions Online I decided to create a were character to go along with my gorilla. The name 'Full Moon' was taken along with pretty much every good name I thought of including 'Lunartic'. You all impress me with the name creativity. I ended up with a sav/inv brute named 'Indemnity Claws'. ... and I'm loving it too. But this made me wonder about other cool looking werewolf costumes / builds. Not to derail this thread (sorry OP) but does anyone have any pictures of cool werewolves (or other animal/beast type toons)? Is there already a thread for this I missed? Here's Indemnity Claws: Indemnity Claws.costume
  3. I am usually mostly a 'forum lurker' especially in most mmo's anymore. I pop in to keep my fingers on the pulse of what is going on and look up things I need answers to. But posting on a lot of forums feels a lot like volunteering to be the target at a shooting range. Some forums you can't say so much as 'hi' without someone eagerly wanting to debate or challenge your concept of reality. Not so here. These forums, the HC team, this community - ALL OF YOU - you are all wonderful. Lately I've been downright 'chatty' and enjoying myself and thinking, "Wow, this is a really well behaved, mature, respectful, intelligent, diverse and considerate community." So, I have no idea what is prompting me to go all full cheesy here but I really do want to say thank you to the HC team AND this community! You guys are great. There is a true camaraderie here. IMO this may be the BEST mmo community I have ever had the privilege of being part of. ... and to any other 'hermit crabs' out there - I think this is a safe place to 'come out of your shell' if you are feeling compelled to jump in and become an active community member or even just toss in your '2 cents' here and there. If there was a ranking scale for forums this place gets a 12 (out of 1-10, lol)! So thank all of you for making this place such a nice place for everyone. You folks are the best. πŸ’— (sorry to any of you who dislike these kinds of posts - I just really had to say it)
  4. Sounds interesting. I had not seen that thread before. This thread is quite intriguing also. I am liking some of these ideas. Perhaps the HC team is listening and getting ideas? One can hope. πŸ˜‹
  5. I did some final 'tweaking' to my Furrocity costume (colors and body size) and think it looks pretty good. I'll attach the costume file if you want to tweak it for your own. Also, I think the stance in the pic of the original cyborg gorilla is from doing the Tarzan emote. Very cool emote on a toon like this. I want to say thanks to all for this thread - I now have yet another fun character that is a blast to play! (inv/sav tanker). I have a werewolf (named Full Moon) in CO but never thought of an 'animal' concept toon for CoX. So, thank you! 😁 Furrocity.costume
  6. Kalkin, I did not get the opportunity to know her. Thank you for sharing this. Rose was amazing and very beautiful person. Those photos are wonderful. You are too. When you said it really touched my heart. You are a very loving person. Thank you and bless you.
  7. Just goofing around super tired last night I got the name "What The?". Now I just need to make a costume/build that's so odd that the first reaction others have when they see the toon will be "What the?"! lol
  8. Here - I just did this visually last night. Got it pretty close I think. Here ya go: Cyborg Gorilla.costume Be sure to get the Beast Run for the stance. Have fun! 😁 Edited to add that ForeverLaxx is correct, the pants are actually the 'rough leather' which has stitching. I prefer the 'animal fur' personally though.
  9. I spent a couple hours last night and was able to recreate it really really close. I’m at work for a few more hours. Will post the build tonight when I get home for everyone. I made an inv savage tanker named Furrocity.
  10. CoH Modder is pretty straightforward and there's quite a bit of stuff available at this point. There are I think two mods that increase the existing sound by 5 db and I think there are some other sounds available for glowies too. There are even a couple of sound files in CoH Modder for making demons sound like kittens and such. Worth checking out if you like changing sounds easily. All kinds of sound files in there. As mentioned it's a link to a forum post here on HC so it's legit (PK made it): CoH Modder - Tools, Utilities & Downloads - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com) If you don't want to go the CoH Modder route then making your own sound file and adding it into your directory should work (as Mr. Vee said).
  11. Very nice. Similar to what I've been dreaming about putting together lately: https://newegg.io/a3127797 (click the arrow on the right to expand my build) Edited to add easier to read 'wish list' view: https://secure.newegg.com/wishlist/sd/tFJNfuKi___0W27IawZXbpLw== I have had very good performance and reliability with ASUS, Corsair and WD on my current and past rigs so I tend to use them often. You should see my Cooler Master HAF Tower. It's the size of a suitcase. lol
  12. I would show you but my cape is at the dry cleaners.
  13. I'm usually madly slamming my hands and forehead into my keyboard until what I want to happen happens: (27) Angry German Kid (original) - YouTube Sometimes when I calm down I use tab targeting or mouse click. lol
  14. Just for grins I tried to roll a toon with this name on Everlasting just to see - yep, it's already taken! lol (by you perhaps? if so l'm curious what AT/powers) I very much agree with @Turric on AoC and STO. Both great games in their own way, much as he described.
  15. I haven't built a new rig in a few years, however I have built some very good rigs with ASUS (inc Crosshair) MBs. That photo made me drool a bit. But I understand. You have a goal. Do not deviate or be tempted to compromise. πŸ‘ I've zero experience with the m.2 stuff but it looks pretty cool. Mind if I ask though.. where any of the other things that you consider showstoppers like m.2 support? I ask because some day, maybe this year, maybe next, I am pondering building another rig and I like ASUS Crosshair so that MB would be a contender. Which leads me to wonder what else it's missing? (I confess I didn't read this entire thread through so if you already said it sorry) Sounds like you are building a beast! 😁
  16. Very true. You could even take that further and say this is how business works. Software as complex as mmorpg client/server literally can't be fully tested via the standard in-house, then alpha, then closed beta, then open beta. It's just too much to literally test for every conceivable scenario. So testing is kept reigned in a bit primarily focused on functionality and bug squashing. If they had teams trying to dream up every way someone might be able to break something by doing some combination of things the game would never get released. The sheer volume of possible issues that could arise would require a TON of testing. Just the requirements and test cases alone would make me run for the hills. As a business, with investors, they NEED to get these beasts up and running as quickly as possible, or perhaps even by certain 'deadlines'. Having been in the software business myself for a good while, I know there is a LOT of pressure to get these things going. So, as much as they may want to test it just a bit more, there comes a point where you have to pull the trigger. And on something this large scale and complex, as you stated, there WILL be a TON of new data that they will be watching very closely. That's why I said in my first post that mmo's might not be the thing for him because after launch nerfs are pretty 'standard'. I sympathize with his frustration in the general sense that it sucks to like something and really be just getting into it and have it be changed radically. However if he's really played online games/mmo's long enough to be spouting off about so many (bad) examples, then yeah, he should know better. And if it was an obvious gamebreaker or exploit, then he REALLY should have known better. Nerfs happen. Either adjust or find an alternative in the game, or move on, perhaps even temporarily until you cool down and give it another try. But going on a rant flaming a ton of games won't accomplish a thing, except to perhaps expose your lack of ability to back up your rant with you know, actual facts... lol. Makes me chuckle every time (because I'm human too and will admit I've thrown a fit or two of my own back in the day when I was a younger whippersnapper - never went well for me either. hehe). πŸ˜„
  17. Here's one: It's basically a cosmetic issue. A clean install in a clean new directory should fix it. BE SURE not to delete any builds you have though. I usually just relocate my old directory to a backup drive OR rename the old directory and leave it where it is, then create a new fresh directory and install mids there. Just re-install mids fresh from the official link should do it. πŸ‘
  18. It looks like you have the issue that occurs when you upgrade from the old mids to the new one but it part of the old one is messing with it. I just got home from a very long day so I can't recall exactly, however, I know there are a couple threads that talk about it. I'll go dig one up...
  19. You sort of read a bit too much I think from what I was saying. Maybe it was the way I wrote it, if so my apologies. However, my statement was about BAD BUSINESS DECISIONS. Or at least waht I consider bad business desisions. Not evil. Evil is everywhere there are people. Even here. So is good. Funcom and NCSoft are two mmo companies who have made business decisions that were most definitely done deliberately. Whether they had 'evil' intent and were intentionally trying to suffocate their own children or they simply made a numbers call was not the point I was making. The point I was making was that CoX still had a strong heartbeat when it died an untimely death. Pretty much the opposite of what the angry guy was ranting about CoH in the OP. Funny to me. I REALLY do not wish to discuss business practices - I'd rather go clean the bathroom or get a tooth extracted. Businesses make choices just like people do (because they are run by people). Every factor that can affect a 'persons' decision can also affect a 'companies' decision. I completely respect your position of trying to see the best in people (and business) because I do it to. Anyhow, not a big deal but I wanted to post this in case others took my post the same way. Just understand - I do not want my comments to be taken as 'XXXXX company is evil!'. Not at all what I was trying to say. πŸ™‚ Evil little imps... I'm going to have to check with my boss. Might explain a few things where I work! lol
  20. Yes. This happens to me. After giving it some thought, I believe the problem is having to spend time at work instead of being able to play 12 hours a day. The problem is DEFINITELY NOT my alt-itis. I'm fine. I have it under control. There's nothing to see here...
  21. Valid question. I don't think most folks know it was killed slowly and painfully. I think a lot of folks think one day they just changed the main power from a toggle to a click and they think flipping 'that' back will do it. The were lots of other changes too however so very valid question. After thinking about it, Anything they can do that would make me think of picking it over say WP (or anything else, lol). I would LIKE to play regen again if it wasn't a button clicking whack-a-mole set. I don't mind the concept of regen requiring a bit more attention but to me it doesn't fit with what a certain X-man would do. He does stop attacking while he whips out a first aid kit and patches himself up. He does stop attacking to meditate and focus on his healing, it just happens. It was fun. Granted, overpowered and in need of adjusting. But fun. There was a reason to choose it. Look. I LOVE the energy sets too, but I would be lying if I didn't admit they felt weaker than most other sets (until recently). Just give regen ANY little bump. Anything. Something. A nudge. I'll take a flipping placebo even. Lie to me and tell me it's all better now. Whatever... Just make me want to pick it. ☺️
  22. Too funny when you put it that way (and true). Not only did he get his facts wrong, if anything CoX was an example of a game that wouldn't die despite the best efforts of those running it. Reminds me of Funcom and AoC / TSW (the actual mmo's - not the garbage replacement versions they rolled out on Steam). Two of the best mmo's ever if Funcom wanted to do something with them. When NCSoft gets even the faintest tickle of displeasure with their games they opt for pulling the plug instead of putting a little effort into marketing them and fixing a few things (I never really got into Tabula Rasa or Wildstar but they seemed fun and my brother, nephews and son were just getting into Auto Assault when they killed that. As a business it's their prerogative, granted from a customer point of view it's a lousy way to go and amazing to me that companies can behave that way and still be in business. This has all been discussed to death so I'll stop here. But yeah, CoX was darn near the OPPOSITE of what he claimed. lol
  23. Quoted for Trooth. πŸ˜‰
  24. Aw shoot.. And here I was thinking brutes are good. Silly me I actually was enjoying them. Glad I found this out before I spent too much time enjoying them. Always better to be safe than risk having fun. I need to go delete a few toons! 😁 Probably the only solution to this horrible problem is to combine everything up into one AT. What do ya think? Tutes? Brankers? Scranks?
