To be fair, I've not seen a timer in one of his arcs for a while. But they were definitely a thing for a bit. -

Can you not create a new named faction built from a Demon Prince and Demonlings? -

@ZamuelNow runs M.A.S.S. as regularly as possible and is a great advocate for story based AE. -

I know there's been a gap, but it's hard to believe these started three years ago! -
Since I'm sometimes nasty, I'd custom fit him with a Power Mission_Maker_Secondary.Dark_Armor.Soul_Transfer. You take him down, he gets back up while stunning you. Downside is customs like that don't give XP, so having plenty of minions around him to grant XP would be needed. To make it even nastier, if you do use something like this then have "Get to Mission Exit" instead of the Exit Button on the Nav bar, so the player can't just hop out. The how of this should be linked here. Custom Builds for AE NPCs. Maps? Ah, there's so much to choose from. I can't really advise you on that.

Underground contacts vanish too depending.

Worst arcs that assume your character is an idiot?
Darmian replied to Zhym's topic in General Discussion
Weirdly I'm not angry with the original writer. No one sets out to write a bad story but sometimes ambition far outweighs talent and/or experience. I'm more annoyed with the testers/gatekeepers who let it through in that form. It's a case of "you had one job" springs to mind. Then again, did they even have staff for that at that point? No matter, I'm sure plenty of actual players would have been happy to test it and throw that fish back. Given the option of badges already being in the game and Red Widow appearing in scenes after this arc, I for one would prefer an entirely new arc to detail her resurrection and let the current one (patched as it is by HC) sit in the Ouro as an oddity. There's plenty of better things hiding in the Ouro after all such as Sister Psyche's TF, the OG Calvin Scott TF, OG Positron TF, the OG LRSF, so it would be in esteemed company. -

No, apologies. I meant in the Mission Architect section. Anyway.

I was simply stating Night Ward is both Praetorian and Spirit realm so I don't know what point I'm making for you. I'm not sure why we're talking about the Midnighters since Praetoria has its own version of them. I think the Primals might have at least an academic interest though! As when War Witch points out that a book missing from the Praetorian one could be found in Primal, it's quite possible the reverse is also true for other things. Agreed. Hamidon has no interest in this zone. However Hamidon describes itself, it's very much a living thing. The Drudges' biggest issue isn't the living being there but that they have lost the ability to send souls further. They're dangerous and can kill you but might also deal with you. Yep, agreed. The story doesn't get to the War. Which is weird because you get all the build up to the War before the Rift mission at level 20 and then if you go to First Ward... crickets. I'm also maybe one of the few people advocating that expansion of the Praetorian story can occur pre War. I'd be happy to see that. Might need some tweaking of the levels so as not to bypass contacts. I don't think we're entirely disagreeing here! Just on maybe different approaches.
-
Yep. It's the Spirit Realm of Praetoria. That's the point. It's not a binary, it's both. And the Shadow Shard isn't an analog. But you mentioning the Shadow Shard raises an interesting point. I mentioned above that in Faathim's TF Mother Mayhem and her Malaise are present in the Shadow Shard. So some Praetorians can go there, so why can't others?

The most you can say about Night Ward is it is both Praetorian AND part of the Spirit World but it's still definitely Praetorian. Dark forces hide in Night Ward, threatening to destroy the world. Night Ward is a Level 25-30 co-op zone, with contacts up to level 50, where characters encounter strange magical allies and foes. This Praetorian zone is connected to First Ward, and is a realm trapped between the land of the living and the world of the dead. Night Ward is a pseudo-dimension created by a small portion of the Netherworld overlapping the world of the living in First Ward. As such, it closely mirrors Praetoria’s First Ward geographically, but that is where the similarities end. The zone is packed with the spirits of the dead who are trapped between worlds. Night Ward gives both the living and the dead an opportunity to view things from the other side of the veil.

Ah, I honestly don't think there is. It's deceptive though because all the NPCs LOOK like a training dummy before you place them. But an actual one? I don't believe so. As a query, why ask here?

Will give Architect Arc: Praetoria Falls! Book 1: The Evacuation of First Ward | Arc ID: 51490 a run! Thanks for writing it @Heavensrun.

Story Structure: Arc-based or mission based?
Darmian replied to Forager's topic in Mission Architect
For me the story is told over five (or fewer, depending) episodes in an arc. See above. I mean you COULD do it like that. Like say five tip missions or bank missions, but those missions are either going to be very tightly written (possible but tricky) or very slight. It does. Sometimes you have a story that needs more than one arc. Or more than three arcs! It happens. I've done that and so have a few others. Check @TerroirNoir2's epic attempt to play through all of my arcs as well as @Ankylosaur's and @cranebump's. -

Nothing wrong with that! Although I wish I'd finished up that final trilogy. I will, whenever the maps I want/need appear. Or I can work out a valid workaround. Which at the moment I'm stumped on. Anyway, there's other writers to review alongside @Ankylosaur and @cranebump when mine are done. -
And they're the BIGGER shards.

There's the Backup Radio too. Yeah, it's not a Sig Summons level NPC but it's still back up! As for the Summons NPCs themselves? I'd like to see a wider variety of them rather than the huddled few we have. And no, I've no issue with the cost.
