  2. I'm totally casual. I probably play less hours these days than most people on this thread. I stick to one character at a time though. That makes a huge difference. And no a billion really isn't that much. Even a haphazard unfocused incarnate can make 50 million in a few hours.

  4. You should read more carefully. They can solo that task force at max difficulty, with BUFFED enemies. In times it used to take teams to do it at +0
  5. Im on my phone atm so sorry for quoting all of this. You probably low on the 300 mil estimate. Most of my level 50 retirees end up at that level, and they really aren't in the solo 54x8 class without at least some help. At a billion inf though, its a snap. There is no IO decay, there are no maintenance costs, etc. The only check on people reaching that level is boredom altitis or a lack of focus. A billion isn't even that much. If you solo through arcs to 50 you'll be halfway there.
  6. As time goes on the typical player build will become more and more powerful. Anecdotally its already happening, sampling the set bonus spam of other characters get longer and longer.

  8. I admit the status quo is very convenient, after all when I'm asked to stealth ahead in a task force, I don't need to worry about ATT being up. I can just solo the whole end room by myself. But that probably isn't how the game should be.
  9. Perhaps it would have made more sense for SOLO players at the elite build level to be able to take on either level 54 or at even level x8. Instead of both. Its a shame that control over power level inflation was completely lost.
  10. There is no need for anything right now, including teammates. Not at 54x8 normal buff levels Not for most content.
  11. Almost no one can Solo the ITF 54x8 with enemies buffed, player nerfed right now. But some crazy build/combo can maybe do it. The same way you and some others have been able to solo the enemies buffed version. So I include Almost. You wouldn't have to nerf anyone necessarily, you could buff the bad guys. Ideally though you'd rework some of the mechanics since we've entered into the realm of very poor granularity in today's game. Should is actually a very important word from a game design standpoint. Without any balance goals you are more likely to get out of control power level inflation. Yes I realize none of that will happen. I've conceded that repitively. But when people wonder why COH feels console cheats easy we shouldn't pretend like its some mystery.
  12. To put it more clearly. You have a Max Difficulty Setting of standard buffed level opposition. +4 level, Equivalent to 8 standard heroes. That should not be a SOLO setting.
  13. The other way around. Almost no one should be able to. That is the setting for big teams, right?
  14. I wonder that no one sees the basic disconnect that ANYONE can solo at the highest available difficulty setting. (Short of throwing on additional buffs and debuffs) You would think the highest difficulty setting for level and number of opponents should require a team. Like every other MMO I've ever played.

  19. I think that perhaps that ability was added due to the balance difficulty question. A lot of games do not have separate PVP/PVE attribute levels.

  22. I didn't say it made it worse. I said you could argue that it did. The main suggestion I'd make is that PVP requires a new Axis to balance your game around. Making the task more difficult. An effort worthwhile if you have a big PVP focus in your game. But if you don't?

It seems like people that like PVP imagine that more PVP will rev up MMOs However even on MMOs with a much more PVP oriented focus, their open-PVP servers tend to be less populous than their PVE servers. So I'd suggest there is very little evidence to suggest more PVP will improve the overall health of the game.
  24. You could probably argue PVP actually made COH worse.
