  1. EA is really easy to softcap Dark also with just one Energy Drain. Energy drain makes a great defense debuff cushion also.
  2. Limiting it just to future content is pretty meh But also don't stop at Accuracy and to hit bonuses. Give them defense bonuses too.
  3. Now *THAT* game was hard. A lot harder than anything anyone is proposing for COH.
  4. lol. I doubt that. I just charge into the bad guys and push buttons. I don't even prioritize targets unless its like a sapper or a ITF Surgeon or something.
  5. That's cool if you think that way. I was just saying the way you quoted me it looked like I was saying, "The game is easy, but not too easy." as my opinion. That is not the case. That's all.
  6. I'm surprised any support set would be on the radar in the current climate. Since most ATs can basically forge all the support they need from IOs and incarnate abilities.
  7. That portion you quote is sort of taking me out of context. I think the game is TOO Easy.
  8. I have said that. And I have explained why. Its barely a game at the level even a 300 Million Inf build plays at. If you can spend an entire task force where you have a 95% chance to hit and a 5% to be hit, the mechanics have failed.
  9. I have a hard time understanding people who don't think the game is easy. I do I suppose get it when they say its easy but not "too easy" As for seeing who has mob stomping builds its fairly easy to get a anecdotal sampling. Just start looking at the info card of all the level 50s you come across and look at how many set bonuses they have.
  10. The progression path though is that sooner or later a larger and larger segment of the playerbase develops god characters. And a larger and larger segment finds the game too easy. And eventually boredom trumps nostalgia and ...
  11. This is just the "Great Silent Majority" Argument writ MMO. And to be honest it is a fallacy whether or not you intended at such. Its the my side is right because the masses agree with me argument. Appeal to Popularity I think is the technical bit.
  12. I think some of those who make the "just use the current tools" argument are genuine. Others just want to prevent any nerfing or increased difficulty. Sometimes its hard to know which. But when genuine I wouldn't think its a fallacy.
  13. There is also certain lack of elegance to a Game System where you spend your whole time on the rails of the possible outcomes. As a RPG Gamer since the early 80's it is somehow unsettling tbh. You may as well ask why we hated Munchkins and Monty Haul Campaigns after a few months playing D&D.
  14. A few things, probably not really an answer. Because the main answer is that the status quo "Feels Wrong" And it feels wrong for lots of little reasons. First. The Difficulty I really want isn't available. Even as an option. I want the bad guys not to be morons. Second. I think a community dedicated to playing a game that is essentially at Console Command Cheat Code level easy should revaluate. Third. Superman is boring. So mind numbingly boring. And Superman has more weaknesses than my Stalker does. Fourth. Nostalgia. I remember City of Heroes when it was on a par with other contemporary MMOs difficulty wise and the change is jarring. Fifth. I already play at 54x8 most the time. Do I really need to add further tweaks other than cranking the difficulty up to max? Seems like a bad design. Also I could turn this all around on you. Lets say the game was hard. The Baddies weren't so stupid. Sunshine. Rainbows. Clowns. Whatever. Most everyone was cool with it. But a few wanted the game to be much easier. And msny just told you, "I don't care what you think go play the super easy stuff. And good luck finding a team." Seems a little. Eh. Dismissive. Tone wise. Not saying that's what your post was per se. But a feel of similar posts in general. Since the same argument has been made tons of times. As I mentioned. I don't think there will be any real changes to the difficulty. But me thinking there should be is just as valid as the people trying to hide the fact that a TW/Bio Scrapper can do 700 dps ST and still do more AOE damage than any other scrapper set.
  15. Very true It has the same AOE as the scrapper version. It gets a normal build up - as opposed to the Scrapper reduced damage build up analog. As you say the combo system works a lot like the Stalker AS crit chance increase, so you do get a rhythm going. All good things.
  16. Nah. The war is over. Has been over. The Overpowered / Game is too damn easy side won. Its actually sort of funny to watch the "everything is fine" lobbyists try and hold the floor to fend off any nerfs to be honest, like there is anything for them to really worry about. Any adjustments to difficulty or reductions in sets like Titan Weapons will be tokens at best. But. It shouldn't be that way. So those who want the game to be harder speak up every now and again. Its kind of like people who don't want the music that was popular when they were in high school to be called "Oldies" even if the stuff IS over 30 years old. All those songs are OLDIES. Deal with it. Calling them "Classic" doesn't change that.
  17. At level 50 with a decent build or better a character basically spends their entire time bouncing on the rail for chance to hit the enemy and the opposite rail for chance for enemy to hit them. They typically have copious amounts of Recharge and added damage, added Recovery, near Double Build-up boost (due to Guassians), etc. The game is based on random die rolls. There isn't a whole lot of random left when you have 95% chance to hit and 5% chance to be hit. And when you live at the rails, there is a lot less for Support to do.
  18. Is it though? Or is it just that its most popular on that one AT, since playing it on a scrapper gives you the biggest bang for your buck.
  19. This seems like speculation. ===== The story is that originally Titan Weapons had no damage bonus in its Build-Up analog. Then it got added in at the 11th hour. Changing it back would also be a "Mechanics change" for example. (Note this is ALSO Speculation)
  20. Perhaps. But they are also relatively much easier than they used to be.
  21. I think the Super Hero comic analogy is way way over used to try and explain away/lobby for game mechanics in COH. It doesn't matter at all how Justice League was. Whether it sucked or was awesome. It wasn't an RPG nor an MMO.
  22. I have 2 Heals in Energize (50+5) And 2 Defense in Energy Drain (50+5) Since I don't really need to heal usually but when I do I want it for the biggest amount I can. And I don't normally need the Defense but when I do, I want it to be a big buff (nice when Def Debuffed or whatever) But that's it. 1 added slot to each. I used to use the Chance for stun in Energy Drain and it really works. But I found I didn't need it. Whether minions are stunned or attacking me makes no difference. Most of my slots go into attacks since that way I can run more purple sets.
  23. If you never die on a Blaster it doesn't matter if the Sentinel is tougher. At least in that Team. Of course on some other team, with some other opponent the Blaster may die sometimes, then it matters again.
  24. Don't think anyone said that.
  25. This is a pretty well organized summation. Thanks. While I never play support characters and don't think along those lines, It makes perfect sense that the easier the game gets due to uber builds and incarnate abilities, the less value support has.
