yeah. If you are only planning to go from 1-20, regen looks pretty good though.

There was a pretty awesome illustration in one of the Champions rulebooks (c1980's I don't remember which edition but it was a revised one) of an Energy Melee type character power/smoke rising from her fists surrounded by dead/unconscious baddies slumped and fallen next to her. That's the one that comes to mind when I think Energy melee. Champions was kind of a good ruleset to build something like this. "Energy Blast - Range = 0" giving you points discount. -- Iron Maiden from the Destroyers in Villains and Vigilantes used a Staff that was an energy melee type attack, at least that's how the illustrations looked. Of course that was a weapon though. That Adventure Module had a defeated hero named "Morning Star" with an awesome take on a Mace Power. Basically her gloves ended in tech maces from what I could make out. Sort of a tech version of a gauntlet/punch dagger - but with a Mace. (The V&V Module version of the character not the later more generic fire hero "Elementals" version) === As to comics .. As mentioned Iron Fist would be Energy Melee, but of course that's his high end attack, not his normal combat. Speedball could be Energy Melee (looks wise sort of), Or maybe Kinetic Melee (conceptually) I think most "Energy Melee" Characters in comic Books also have Super Strength, I guess it depends on which is the main type of attack. A lot of the "Energy Blast" type characters do also.

The name of Infinite Corona (Excelsior) was reset

It would be like suggesting you can't tell someone that they have to leave your house if they won't stop screaming "duck!" -

Good thing congress doesn't run Homecoming then. There is no right to free speech on someone else's hosted MMO. If Homecoming stops you from speaking out outside of *their* hosted servers / forums / discord / etc we can all lose our minds then. -

I am sure that Corona is far from the only prohibited word in character names. There are surely a number of words that have been prohibited since the earliest live days on the original servers. And somehow we muddle through. -

Exactly. What are they supposed to do, police every idiot making a joke character name with Corona in it? Easier to just ban it for now. -

Where the people running the Server draw it. And try to be understanding about the place they are in hosting the servers. -

Kind of have to err on the side of what would be Political Correctness I think. (in a sane world) Lots of people have died. A lot more will die. People will be disabled, etc. So not allowing Corona makes perfect sense. I don't see second guessing the GMs on this one. -
This is why I think a hard mode shard might work. Sort of like the concept behind Siege Perilous in UO. Or the Requiem mod in Skyrim. Or Frost in Fallout 4. This lets almost everyone have their normal COH, but the tryhards you mention can have the other experience. Ideally you could also eventually add in some story type changes to make everything darker, bleaker, etc.

It was cool for about 5 minutes on Test ..

Is this a new broken? Or the same broken they always were?

I think there exists a minority of players that want the game to be challenging even with bleeding edge IO builds. But its basically impossible to design the main game around this. But no real challenge setting affects top end IO builds without removing the enhancements. No Inspirations? PFFTs don't make me laugh. On a top end build you forget they are even there half the time.
-
No solution that doesn't keep IO builds will work. No one wants to give up their build. To a lesser extent this includes incarnates. Though I think people are less attached to those overall.
-
I don't think that will work. Seeing how unpopular Challenge options for Task Forces are. Progression Servers are sort of popular though. Extreme Hardmode mods for some games (Skyrim Requiem, etc) have some popularity as well. I think it would have to be locked in to work. But forcing it on the rest of the community would be unpopular. So you'd need a server where you couldn't transfer characters, funds, etc. With a different set of rules. And so on. But the game mode option would be easier to try I'm sure. Maybe offer some reason to use the current challenge settings other than just "Hey anyone wan't to set this Dr Q to No Enhancements? No? Yeah. Me either."
-
At this point I don't think you can fix the mechanics of the "Main game" Maybe there can be a shard with a more difficult ruleset, and they can see how popular it is.

Easy enough to work around. Thanks for the info though, OP. In a couple years maybe you can get it back. -
Stay up super super late, so you are almost falling asleep at the keyboard. THEN .. shotgun a Monster Energy Drink. Those recurrent jitters, that's momentum.
-
Really this was just a range thing. Get an AOE with a wide cone but short range, then add range enhancers .. suddenly its insane how much the Area affected is due to the increase in range. Its less spectacular on a narrow, long range cone of course, due to the positioning required.

Get back with your vile trigonometry!

I feel some people are deliberately obtuse here. Superman for example has a very stylized costume. Its obvious if you are copying it. Comic book Wolverine does also. However in the first Xman movie, everyone is just in black leather. Black leather while debateably stylish in many instances, is not stylized per se. And lots of fictional characters in many mediums have gone this route So if you made a black leather costume you wouldn't be copying anything. ========= Preemptive response warning. Intentionally obtuse responses will only receive a LOL in return.

Training is a long honored MMO tradition. To remove this aspect leaves us all poorer.

What if we add DPA to the damage formula?

Seems like a big change to make at this stage
