Irradiated Ground is absolutely OP with procs. If it’s half that good it’ll be in a great place.

If you want to dismantle the game’s core design principles, other servers that have already done so are the way to go as opposed to trying to spoil one of the relatively conservative servers for players that enjoy its approach.

Hard no vote to removing repel from repel powers. The Dimension Shift revamp is liked by a lot of people too so don’t touch that either. Do what you want with Black Hole I guess if you must.

Straight cash at any given time? Probably <20mil. But that’s because I always have something to spend it on. Nearly at 70 level 50’s, most of which are purpled/boosted/etc to the teeth.

I would just go ahead and play in Atlas AE. You can already solo farm if you don’t pump the level up (+0x8 as said above), but you’re also likely to run into level 50 farmers that will let you join their farms. Once you’re done building this farmer ofc, other level 50’s are a one-day job 🙂

Well at least I can say this doesn’t constitute much power creep. Before I opened the thread I was sure it’d be something about heal, absorb, or regen, so I am pleasantly surprised by the suggestion’s reasonableness 🙂

It’s nice to dream about but yeah I just don’t think this is appropriate as a real design philosophy. I am not ok with stripping that many more challenges from this game which already exists on the far (easy) end of the difficulty bell curve. Also note that we’re already closer to this than ever. With a fire mastery build with winter sets you can already make any character survive a maxed out meteor farm map, with only the completion time issue left to conquer. Pylon times may not quite be there either but the PPM system has low damage AT’s already doing way more damage than ever before.

Brad, I think you’re arguing that not only should all characters with a good build be equally able to solo +4x8, but they should all be equally able to jump into melee when doing so against mez-heavy enemies. Correct me if I’m wrong? If I stated that correctly though, unfortunately, I am comfortable guessing that there’s a 99% chance that position is inconsistent with the design philosophy of any of the past or current devs.

Yeah assuming that any common user of this forum doesn’t play every single AT in the game is a bit of a weak bet.

50% reduction sounds like a huge boon to me. And it’s not hard to get there because they give this particular set bonus out like candy. Resistance bonuses are already very common, and this comes with every one of them. So however common resistance to a damage type is, this bonus is about 4x more common than that.

Yeah I’d prefer they leave it as is.

I would support offensive toggles suppressing when mezzed. I think my Rad defender is my only character with Clarion due to this issue. I don’t really struggle with mez on any other characters, but I do tend to just completely forget to turn other offensive toggles back on, like Time’s Juncture. Which is slightly annoying from time to time.

There’s something important and perhaps even profound here. I have strong suspicions it even correlates to worldview outside of CoH. I see just about every defeat in this game as a tactical error with varying (nonzero) levels of avoidability. Others seem to see themselves as relatively powerless subjects of a systemic force. I have a feeling these philosophical differences between us are deep rooted and unlikely to change.

Right... and.. again.. my point is that those powers should not be the reference point for balance at all. So until we stop bringing up the absolute *best* pool powers when balance is something you do based on the *average* pool power, the comparisons are irrelevant to me.

Absolutely disagree with the “must be considered as good as Hasten, Weave, Maneuvers, etc. before you can nerf it”. Those powers are at the far (good) end of the bell curve, yes, but IMO everything on the entire “better” half of the bell curve is fair game for balancing. I also think the only reason the big 4 pools meta hasn’t been nerfed to encourage build diversity is because the shitstorm would make this thread look like nothing - not because those powers represent the epitome of reasonable balance.
